I've just done W1 R1 so am at the beginning. Anyone else want running friend/s? A couple of rl friends fancy doing it but I bet there's people here that have been thinking about it like I did for a while?
I know there's plenty on MN already doing it but want to chat with newbies like myself. Spur each other on 🏃‍♀️👟👟

Still repeating Wk here - up to 6 mins, but just finding I'm getting pains in my knee & I need to rest it up before doing the next. Bit disheartening; but I did feel my stamina is gradually increasing & each run was a bit easier than before.
Will just keep slogging at it. Glad now the weather has improved.

Vebrithien · 20/05/2023 06:27

W3R1 done! Those 3 min seemed like an age, but I did it all!

Certainly couldn't have run for 3 min, 4 weeks ago. And I've also lost just over 6lb in that time too.

So lovely to hear others and their successes too.

bailarbailar · 20/05/2023 09:30

So I haven't been out since my last run/post 10 days ago! I've been ill and feeling v sorry for myself. Finally felt a bit yesterah so went out this morning. It felt very very slow and painful and I struggled but actually my app tells me I do it in exactly the same time and pace as last time lol
Think the lesson is don't push yourself when you're ill and be kind to yourself - getting outside is definitely the hardest bit

DoINeedToDoThis · 20/05/2023 10:12

I did it! 20 min continuous run! 🥳

Only 2 more runs with walking breaks in and then it's "proper running" 😳

I'm so proud of myself - 9 months ago I was 145lb (10st 5lb) heavier than I am now and just getting through the day was a massive effort and now I can run for 20 mins! 🎉

DCINightingale · 20/05/2023 11:49

Amazing, well done!!! What a great achievement, you have come far. Keep on going!

Amazing!! Such an achievement and well over half way to the end! Woop!

Tartantop · 20/05/2023 15:21

Wow @DoINeedToDoThis that is amazing! What a fabulous achievement.

I’m due to do W2R3 tomorrow, will need to squeeze it in to a busy day. I have no idea how I’m going to manage running for even 5 minutes non-stop in a couple weeks time but just need to trust the programme!

upandoutofbed · 21/05/2023 10:56

W4R2 ticked off! So nearly didn't go again. I tread such a delicate balancing act with peri, Long Covid recovery and life's general ups and downs.

Beautiful sunny morning, beautiful run and quite emotional as it was to a special place that my husband used to drive me to quite often when I was ill. There is an enormous old oak tree there that I used to dream of walking to and today I ran past it.

@bailarbailar sorry you've been ill, and glad you're back out again. Onwards and upwards! And wow well done @DoINeedToDoThis - what a phenomenal achievement!

That's such a lovely story, about your tree.

I've been taking a photo, each time I manage to do the run.

Hi everyone, it feels like I’ve been gone ages! Unfortunately I got to week 4 run 3, was all set to go on Monday evening but had a very stressful week and didn’t do any exercise at all. It has really taken it out of me so I’m going to repeat wk 3 and then start wk 4 again to get back into it (I know I will not be able to do week 4 if I just go straight back to where I was, even though it’s only been a week!) so this feels like the right thing to do.

Vebrithien · 22/05/2023 06:21

Good luck @Motorcycleemptyness

W3R2 completed. Got up at 5:30, and am now heading back for a shower and a full on day. This will be the test of if I can stick to these days.

APurpleSquirrel · 22/05/2023 20:55

Got up to 7 minutes running - still repeating wk1 but massive improvement on my first run back in April when I managed about 40secs.
Aiming to do 7mins a few times, then attempt the 8 before moving to Wk2.
Very slow & steady but it's progress.
@DoINeedToDoThis that's amazing! I'm guessing (not weighed myself) I need to lose around 6-7st; & this is a start. Certainly noticing the improvement in my stamina & recovery.
Keep going everyone Smile

SupremeCommanderServalan · 23/05/2023 07:00

W5R1 done yesterday. I'm away with work at the moment, so had to set my alarm for crack of dawn so that I could go out and back without colleagues seeing my fat arse slowly wobbling about the place.

Vebrithien · 24/05/2023 06:46

W3R3 done!

Along with making some changes to how I eat, I have lost 4.5kg since starting!

Will have to think about the route I take for W4, don't want to get caught on an incline for the first 5 min run.

Wow that’s amazing… I have lost a grand total of ….. nothing!
Im on the last week now but have had 2 really bad runs in a row, where I just couldn’t keep going (think it was too hot! and I’m finding certain time of the month harder) anyone else?

RightWhereYouLeftMe · 24/05/2023 08:54

Just did w5r2, which means the 20 min run is next!

I struggled with two 8 min runs today, not sure I'll be able to manage 20 minutes straight

DCINightingale · 24/05/2023 14:47

Hi everyone, lovely to hear how you have all been getting on. @RightWhereYouLeftMe 20 minutes seems daunting but you just did 16 minutes, take it really steady and you'll get there!

I have finally done W9R3! It has taken me 3 weeks to get through the last week due to various things but I eventually got there. Still a way of 5k so I might try and see if I can run 5k next time, even if though it will take me longer than 30 minutes.

upandoutofbed · 26/05/2023 08:51

Hi everyone! So lovely to read everyone's updates.

@DCINightingale so you've finished the programme?! Whoop 🙌 🏆 well done! You did it! What an achievement. Except it never feels quite over does it, as next step would be 5k I guess, either by building stamina or speed.

I just did w5r1... think this is going to be a challenging week. @RightWhereYouLeftMe I didn't realise I'm only 1 session away from a 20 minute run, eek. I'd only peeked one session ahead and was already worrying about the 8 minute segments! I think I need to download some new music and trust the process.

RightWhereYouLeftMe · 26/05/2023 09:19

@upandoutofbed I just did the 20 min run this morning and actually managed it! At about 8 minutes I thought I might give up and go home, but somehow I did run the whole thing.

Although if I keep the same pace for 30 mins as I did today I'll only do 3km, rather than 5, so I was going verrrry slowly.

Flashinggreen · 26/05/2023 15:01

Amazing achievements folks. I did w5r2 today so am slightly apprehensive for r3 on Sunday. It was a lovely sunny run and I’m going to do the same route round the park so twice round should do it and a place to aim for works for me.

bakewellbride · 26/05/2023 16:01

@Flashinggreen well done! I'm doing that run this evening once kids are asleep!

Flashinggreen · 26/05/2023 17:45

Go for it!

bakewellbride · 26/05/2023 20:13

@Flashinggreen thank you. It was a bad run though. A dog scared me, I just came home and cried.

dreamcatchmee · 26/05/2023 20:22

New to the thread.
My second time doing couch to 5k. Just did week 3 run 2 and it SUCKED!! I got a stitch which I never usually get. Maybe because I ate a big dinner?
Fingers crossed for a better next run.

Flashinggreen · 26/05/2023 22:03

Sorry to hear that @bakewellbride
