45 min bike done after I told his girlfriend. They've been together 10 years and she had no clue

CrimsonAlligator · 03/09/2022 18:33

@PeloDramatic that’s awful. What a bastard!

(I like your name change by the way 👍)

@roonetta what does WWL stand for in your post? I can’t work it out!

Today’s exercise: 3 x 4K steady row. I did it in a sleep deprived state, which wasn’t ideal, but at least meant that my heart rate didn’t shoot up. I’m supposed to keep it under 150 on longer rows, which is usually really hard, but somehow gets a lot easier when you’re half asleep on the rower 😂

@iloveeverykindofcat I’m not sure I am well placed to answer your question as that’s not really the kind of exercise I do, but for me muscle ache rarely lasts for more than a day. It used to last a lot longer when I was just starting out, so I guess your body gets better at dealing with it.

roonetta · 03/09/2022 20:20

Oh wow Pelo, I don't know what to say apart from echoing the sentiments of Crimson and Motherforkin Flowers. Hope you are doing okay.

WWL stands for Walking With Leslie Crimson. It's a walk at home programme which feels a bit like the old 80s aerobics workouts. It means I can get my miles in from the comfort of my back room and is great fun Grin

When I first started working out @iloveeverykindofcat I would say the pain lasted a good couple of days, depending on how hard I pushed myself. I only get the pain now if I have a break from working out.

ILikeHotWaterBottles · 03/09/2022 21:51

iloveeverykindofcat it shouldn't last too long, do lots of stretching. Stretching helps immensely. Have a bath the next day too if you need to. It shouldn't get too bad after a few times of doing it. I don't get sore after any workouts now, but I make sure I do a full stretching session after.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 03/09/2022 23:39

Pelo, I’m so sorry. Better to know than not (for you and his girlfriend), but that won’t be much consolation just now.

I did an actual yoga class with real people today. Days exercised 136.

iloveeverykindofcat · 04/09/2022 05:36

Thanks. I think I didn't stretch enough. Must work on that

Pressed send to soon. I'm not exactly new to fitness - I've always swum, and used to be county level in my younger days (though I'm certaintly not anymore). But I'm fairly new to strength and swimming is much more of upper body workout than lower. Funnily enough, short legs are an advantage in swimming (check Michael Phelps' legs in comparison to his total height). Your legs create drag in the water.

SophieLion · 04/09/2022 08:48

Oh that's horrible pelo. What a !?%#. Sending you a hug Flowers and how awful for her too. 10 years...

I was thinking that carline will probably start a new program around now when her children are back in school Roonetta. I hope she does!

Hello Iloveeverykinfofcat, in my experience whenever I use muscles that I haven't used in a while (whether that's because I haven't exercised for a while or because I try something new), it hurts after. Sometimes I feel mildly sore and other times can hurt for up to 3 days. The more they get used, the less they hurt. And obviously a good warm up and stretching after always helps.

Inspired by professor today and did a 40 mins yoga with Tim session today. Plus a short lilly sabri abs workout.

@SophieLion they seem to have recovered today! Onwards. @PeloAddict I'm new to this thread but very sorry to hear of what you've been through. Or what the guy chose to do to you I should say.

roonetta · 04/09/2022 09:05

3 mile WWL done ☑️

Hope the exercise is helping Pelo

Hello @iloveeverykindofcat 👋 like
Others have said, I fins doms values a lot but its always less bad when I'm more used to whatever it is I'm doing.

Pump class today. I wasn't really in the humour for it and the music was terrible, but at least it's done.

Goostacean · 04/09/2022 11:57

Hi all, may I join? I’m on the final day of a VERY decadent holiday and am feeling pretty sluggish from it. I also need to seriously improve my core strength as it’s causing me issues when I work (sat at a desk). I’m not working on Fridays for the next 10 weeks so am thinking C25K plus Pilates on the Fridays is a good place to start!

PeloDramatic · 04/09/2022 14:34

30 min power zone ride done. Week 1 of the challenge completed and I got platinum so max points

SophieLion · 04/09/2022 19:32

Glad you've recovered a bit iloveeverykindofcat.

Hello Goostacean! Welcome to the thread! Running and pilates on Fridays sounds a great place to start. Good luck!!

No sign of life from Caroline girvan Roonetta. Thinking about it, she usually starts talking about new programs end of August. I think I might try her complex series (one week) next. It was either that or pyramid one and the pyramid looked a bit tough!

iloveeverykindofcat · 05/09/2022 08:24

@PeloAddict 👏
Just done 45 mins Pilates (HARD) and off for a 30 min swim (easy) then pretty much deskbound for the day (wfh).

CrimsonAlligator · 05/09/2022 13:34

Today’s exercise: 10 x 1 km fast rows. It was a little bit easier than I thought it would be, which got me thinking about what time I can realistically aim for when I do my 10 k race in November. May be I should be a little bit more ambitious than I’ve been so far?! 🤔

Welcome to the thread @Goostacean

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 05/09/2022 14:55

Welcome @Goostacean 🖐

Do you row on water too, CrimsonAlligator? My bil, niece and nephew are very involved in their rowing club (always seem to be heading off to regsttas!) and are preparing for their overwintering programme now.

I just did 1000m at the pool. Whoop whoop! And it was a nice way to ease out the aches from yesterday's class.

Joining for motivation - thanks

PeloDramatic · 05/09/2022 17:34

Just signed up to a pelofondo in October
Only 50 miles to bike over 2 days but it's my first one so didn't want to overdo it!

CrimsonAlligator · 06/09/2022 09:58

Well done on your swim @MotherForkinShirtBalls ! Unfortunately I have nowhere near by where on water rowing would be an option, so it’s strictly garage rowing for me 😄

Welcome to the thread @StarryHyles 50 miles over 2 days sounds challenging, but doable @PeloDramatic . Do you think you might look at longer distances for future events?

Todays’s exercise: 15 x 1 minute “power strokes”. Combined with warm up, cool down and technique practice that came to just over 10k.

PeloFondo · 06/09/2022 10:06

Hopefully! I would love to do a 100 mile one
It takes me a 90 min spin class to do 20 miles so that's a vague idea of how long

roonetta · 06/09/2022 10:28

Welcome to the thread @Goostacean and @StarryHyles 🙌

I hope she does another one too Sophie. I am missing her workouts but my arm just won't allow the upper body with heavier weights at the moment. I have stopped going to the osteopath for financial reasons. At £50 a time I just can't justify it. My wrist is much better and that was the thing that bothered me the most. I will keep going with the lighter weights for now with Jillian and maybe add in some Girvan lower body, although they are my least favourite.

Well done on the swim Motherforkin! 👏👏👏

Good luck with Pelofondo Pelo

30DS L1 D8 (I think). This is the longest I have taken to complete L1 ever Grin

I will be doing workouts from home for a while. My partner has COVID and I doubt it will be long before I catch it, I catch everything. Terrible immune system. Will keep exercising at home while I can.

SophieLion · 06/09/2022 15:13

Hello starryHyles!

Sorry to hear your arm still isn't right Roonetta. Yes £50 a pop is a lot. Can you go to your GP to see if they can help?

Fingers crossed you don't catch it hotwaterbottles and hope your DH is better soon.

Complex series day 1 (legs) today. Tough.

iloveeverykindofcat · 06/09/2022 15:14

Caroline Girvan vids look intimidating! She looks extremely lean and strong so I guess the proof is right there but HIIT and weights seperately are hard enough!
