Been to the gym the past two days, didn't manage to complete my full workout yesterday though. Half because my left leg started feeling a bit sore, and half because so many people were in last night and mostly standing around in the way. Drove me mad. 😂

Didn't get my early morning walk today so going for it at lunch time. Little delayed but I will bloody do it.

PeloAddict · 30/08/2022 11:07

I need to do a 45 min ride for the challenge tonight

WolfMother326 · 30/08/2022 13:15

Hi, can I join?
I was doing couch to 5k earlier this year after having a baby, then lost momentum as we moved house.
Baby is 1, has started nursery and I am getting to do lunch runs.
In the past week ran 3x, 2-4 miles each time. Going to try to run most days through September to get back into it, just short distances.
Already feels so good to be back doing some exercise, something just for me!

CrimsonAlligator · 31/08/2022 10:42

Welcome to the thread@WolfMother326 . I agree, it’s always good to take some time out of the day to focus on yourself, especially when you have young children. I’ve only just started C25K, so 2-4 miles sounds very impressive to me!

Today’s exercise: a 4km, 3km, 2km, 1km and 500 metre row, done at increasing speeds and stroke rates. It was easier than I expected, and kind of fun

WolfMother326 · 31/08/2022 12:52

Thanks @CrimsonAlligator 😊

How does the thread work? Just do a little exercise every day?
Went on a morning run, 2.5 miles pretty slow. Got stung by a bee while minding my own business but still had a nice time.

roonetta · 31/08/2022 13:08

Welcome @WolfMother326. I agree with CrimsonAlligator about making time for yourself. We all know how the mum guilt can creep in. Sorry about the bee sting! There is no right or wrong way here, we all do what we can, when we can, with some doing way more than others (I'm definitely in the less category) Grin. Some of us note down how many days we have exercised and some don't. I think it's great that we all do different things. I'm positive I would have given up long ago without this thread. Every single one of you motivate me Star

Your rowing schedule sounds awesome CrimsonAlligator.

Did you manage to get your ride in Pelo?

That sounds frustrating Waterbottles. Hope you managed to get a walk in.

I didn't! I'm actually taking 2 days off as I'm not sleeping at all. But I'm ahead of myself in the challenge
Got next weeks schedule too so I can plan

Unilateral week day 4 (full body dumbbell).

Posted too soon!

Hello wolfmother and welcome to the thread! Yes good that you are getting some time for yourself. Good luck with the running! 🍀 and hope you didn't get a reaction to the new sting. I always get really huge swellings/reactions which take days to go....

And like Roonetta says, we all just post what we want on the thread. And count days if we want. It's all quite relaxed but really motivating at the same time.

Sounds like your gym was the place to be yesterday hotwaterbottles - unless you actually wanted to get some exercise done! Hopefully quieter next time.

Great that you are finding the exercise fun crimson! Have to say that the unilateral week (Caroline girvan) which I'm doing at the moment is totally boring. Far too repetitive. Only one day to go though....

Hope you manage to get some sleep pelo ❤️

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 31/08/2022 21:24

Hello Wolfmother 👋 Hope you're OK after your bee sting. I got nettle stings for the first time since I was a kid last week and I was a total wuss about it Blush

I'm in awe of the rowing, CrimsonAlligator. I got on a rowing machine at the gym when I was on holidays and thought I'd do a gentle 10 minutes. I had to give up after about 3!!

Hope you get some rest Pelo, not sleeping is the pits.

The children are finally back to school so I have time to go to classes again! To celebrate I went to a pump class. I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow.

I have some zopiclone now so hoping that helps!
Am managing 4 days a week exercise consistently but want to try and up it to 5

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 01/09/2022 14:28

Lovely longer swim today (850m) and my shoulder wasn't sore at all! I actually feel like I'm getting closer to where I was 2 years ago. Once I'm back to 1km I'm allowed up my front crawl a bit so that'll be the next challenge.

I see I’m not the only one with suffering shoulders (MotherForkin, I’m so pleased yours is on the way to recovery.) I do need to do more stretches at work. Also I suspect reading on the Kindle is very bad, and I do a lot of that! I find yoga does help: I’m very inflexible and I see very tiny and gradual improvements if I do yoga regularly.

Yoga session done last night, but I was too tired to post. Days exercised 134.

SophieLion · 02/09/2022 08:15

Unilateral week day 5 (HIIT) plus a 3 min plank challenge. That's unilateral week finished. Not my favourite girvan program - the HIIT was the least boring day.

Great news about your shoulder MotherForkin 👏🏻👏🏻

You are so right about yoga and flexibility professor. I really Must try to do some
More yoga workouts.

Days exercised 161

CrimsonAlligator · 02/09/2022 09:44

A 3 minute plank challenge sounds pretty hard core@SophieLion ...no pun intended!

Great news that you’re seeing an improvement with your shoulder @MotherForkinShirtBalls and thanks for the rowing admiration. It’s definitely a tough sport, but does get a little easier over time 😊

Today’s exercise: 12 x 300m “power stroke”. I had to dig deep towards the end, but all in all it felt a little bit easier than last week’s power stroke session. With warm up, cool down and technique practice, today’s session came to just over 10k. Think I’ll be feeling it later today...

SophieLion · 02/09/2022 14:12

Yes crimson it wasn't easy. But I figured 3 mins of that equates with my usual 10 mins of abs or core (I was running short of time today).

Well done on your 10km row!!

ILikeHotWaterBottles · 02/09/2022 15:10

God you guys are all doing so well. 😄shall use it as inspiration to catch up!

I did a 60 min walk on Tuesday, weights workout at home as couldn't be bothered travelling in to the gym on Wednesday, and pt last night. I can finally do a squat and not fall back onto a box! While holding 10kg! Hips are finally getting some strength back 😂and I have kept to my workout plan.

roonetta · 02/09/2022 20:11

I wonder if Caroline will be back soon with a new programme Sophie? Hopefully it will be a bit more enjoyable.

Well done on the 10k Crimson Star

Great to hear your shoulder is finally on the mend Motherforkin. It has been a long slog!

Well done on the squat progression Waterbottles! Star

Thanks everyone 😊

Those squats sound hard, waterbottles!

Hill walk this morning. It's ages since I did it so I was glad I brought the dog and had sniff breaks as an excuse to catch my breath! Was worth it for some beautiful views of the sun coming through the clouds over the sea. I'll be stuck at my desk all day tomorrow so probably going to have to have it as a rest day.

Yoga done tonight. I’m so creaky I could be the Tin Man this week.

What a week. Period from hell and then I find out my boyfriend isn't actually single. So that's great Hmm really impressed he didn't mention that in the last 9 months
Planning to hide myself in exercise after I've had a couple of days to mope

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 03/09/2022 08:10

I'm really sorry to hear that, Pelo. What a shit Angry

Question for the more experienced fit people:
You know when you're trying to go from skinnyfat to lean
How long are your legs supposed to hurt after leg day? 😫
