30DS L1 done. That makes five times in the last week, plus a couple of Pilates classes and daily yoga. School starts again tomorrow- the plan is to get up 15 minutes early and do one of JM’s 10-minute workouts, and stick to the yoga in the evenings if I can, but I won’t beat myself up if it doesn’t go to plan.

cat, I don’t do Caroline Girvan but I’ve done an awful lot of Jillian Michaels and over the years I’ve built up a collection of dumbbells between 0.5 and 8kg. I have a very weak upper body in spite of the workouts so I don’t suppose I shall ever need anything heavier than 8.

Bez, I feel your pain- that story confirms that I was right to run away.

Days exercised 3.

OublietteBravo · 03/01/2023 20:04

I’m aching from yesterday’s press-ups. So I did an abs circuit today. KAbs L1 (31 min)

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 03/01/2023 20:05

I was foiled in my attempt to swim at lunchtime (session cancelled because of a changing room problem) but they had a session this evening to make up for it. It was lovely, much less busy than the usual lunch hour sessions and I swam for longer than usual as a result. I did realise it's suddenly time to get a new swim suit though, will be ordering that for express delivery 😳

BezMills · 03/01/2023 20:34

I have just signed up for 2800 pressups in feb. That is quite an ask, as I guess I can do like 10 at the moment. Oh well it is for a good cause and the struggle will make good stories on fb for fundraising.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 04/01/2023 07:59

Wow, Bez, good luck! I can do 10 properly on a good day - can’t imagine doing 100 a day.

10-minute JM HIIT/plyo workout done (plus warm-up and stretches). Ouch. Yoga tonight.

Days exercised 4.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 04/01/2023 13:18

That's an incredible challenge Bez. Good luck with it.

Short run this morning.

Days exercised 3 (I managed to confuse myself yesterday, bodes well for the year 🙄)

roonetta · 04/01/2023 13:30

Wow great start to the year everyone! I need to play catch up.

About the dumbbell weight increase cat - I was using 5kg quite happily for a while with CG and so moved up to 7kg and again, managed quite well with this weight. Being the idiot that I am, I stupidly increased the weight to 10kg. I only used them twice and injured my arm. Definitely slow and steady is the way to go, or even lighter weights and more reps. I don't think my 10kgs will ever see the light of day again Blush

Good luck with the 2800 press-ups Bez! That's definitely a challenge.

30 minute Pilates workout with my new Pilates ring (oof!) and a 20 minute strength workout (Lift with Cee).

Swim today. Shorter than planned as my shoulder started to niggle at me and I didn't want to risk it.

OublietteBravo · 05/01/2023 18:23

I had a rest day yesterday. Because everything ached. Today I’ve done 30DS L1. I’m also trying out a new DVD: Darcey Bussell’s Diverse Dance Mix. This seems to be short (2.5 min) workouts in different dance styles. I’ve only tried the warmup plus 1960s so far. But it was fun, and did push my workout time over 30 mins.

I am lounging about killing time before teaching my first BodyCombat in 3 weeks. I am in a bit of a mh fug at the moment, but I am sure my class will do me the world of good.

I am slightly stressed as I am due to be assessed on BC (I have to film a whole class and send it up to HQ), but I am treating tonight like a first pancake if that makes sense? Just have fun and get my head back in the game. I will film tomorrow and Friday week, and submit the better of the two.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 05/01/2023 22:23

I’m in awe, Bez. As I’m totally uncoordinated I can’t even do Body Combat classes. Good luck with the assessment.

10 minutes of core work from JM this morning, and yoga tonight. So far so good.

I like the sound of the Darcey Bussell DVD, Oubliette. I have a deadly dull Pilates one of hers, yours sounds better.

iloveeverykindofcat · 06/01/2023 06:29

@roonetta Yeah that's a big jump. I started with 5kg free weights and am now up to 7kg (for some exercise) but that took 4 months.

BezMills · 06/01/2023 16:00

I did my Thursday evening and Friday lunchtime BodyCombat classes. 2 days exercised!

Pelo22 · 06/01/2023 16:07

I'm alive but not back to exercise yet! Covid took me out for 2 weeks
They've been amazed how I've recovered (underlying conditions, immunocompromised and first time) and the antivirals definitely helped as well as the fitness
Still breathless so I'm under a sats monitoring service thing

OublietteBravo · 06/01/2023 19:26

Glad to hear you are on the mend @Pelo22. Totally understandable that you’re not back to exercising yet!

30DS L2 - which I consider to be my nemesis workout. I hate the squats with a v raise so bloody much! Plus Arabian and Charleston from Diverse Dance Mix.

(4/20)

roonetta · 07/01/2023 16:06

I'm embarrassed to say I had to look up Body Combat. Wow you must be hardcore Bez! How long have you been teaching classes?

The dance workouts sound fun Oubliette. I'm with you on the hate for squats with v raise - they never seemed to get any easier.

Hope you get well soon Pelo Flowers. Sounds like you've had a rough time of it.

That does sound like a very intense programme Bez! Good luck with your review. Hope you're back to full health soon Pelo, mind yourself.

Busy day yesterday so I didn't get to do much proper exercise. I did a short run followed by a long walk with a friend this morning. I had 9000 steps done by 11am!

BezMills · 07/01/2023 18:17

@roonetta I have been teaching only a few weeks. My sensei teacher has taken time out to have a child and the class wasn't running since May or so. She persuaded me that it would be a fine idea if i did the training and became the new teacher, to get the class going again. I missed it a lot and I know there were a lot of others who felt the same way, so I said sure why not.

I really enjoy teaching but it has not been easy! And I am still on my provisional so to speak. I am quite proud that I have come this far and hopefully I will have my full qualification inside this month

roonetta · 07/01/2023 19:06

What a great achievement @BezMills - best of luck with it!

iloveeverykindofcat · 08/01/2023 11:47

Well last week was very disorganized what with train strikes and one thing and another but I should be back to my normal routine this week. I did a 30 min session on the bike which included 10 HIIT intervals. Tomorrow will go back to the gym.

Just looked up bodycombat. Some very co-ordinated people! I think I would punch myself in the face.

Still laughing rather than crying...

OublietteBravo · 08/01/2023 19:21

Oh no @Rebel2023!

I tried a new Jillian workout today. Killer Body: Core (30 min)

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 09/01/2023 15:10

Hope you're OK, Rebel, you've really been through the mill.

I had a short run early this morning and a swim at lunchtime.
