Yoga session done. Hope you’re feeling better, cat!

MotherForkin, if it’s any consolation I’ve had a dreadful month- when work is busy exercise flies out of the window.

Days exercised 151.

SophieLion · 07/10/2022 09:54

Sorry I meant to write a bit more earlier.

Very sweet squirrel story MotherForkin. Your dog sounds lovely. Sorry to hear you've have another tough week. It does sound lovely where you live though close to woods etc. and the sea!

Get well soon Cat Flowers

I might have a look at that app too Roonetta. I want to get a dog from a rescue centre (there are loads of stray animals here - my two cats I took from an litter of kittens which had been abandoned - they were only 6 weeks old when I found them) but DH wants to get a breed. We'll see....

Pelo, Is the peloton strength class done while you're on the bike?!

PeloFondo · 07/10/2022 10:33

@SophieLion no! Well there's classes that do light arm weights on the bike but the rest are all on the floor
My screen swivels so I can use it to do yoga, weights, barre etc

SophieLion · 07/10/2022 11:03

That's great that Peloton offers so much choice re workouts pelo. Was thinking that weights whilst on bike would be very difficult (even dangerous even?)

PeloFondo · 07/10/2022 11:46

It's really good, there's even outdoor audio walks, meditation, whatever you could want really. It's how I justify £40 a month

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 07/10/2022 15:11

That does sound like a good investment, Pelo, glad it's working for you.

We are lucky to live where we do, Sophie, we're close to lots of natural amenities...between the rain showers! The dog is lovely but was supposed to be a way of making myself get out for a good walk every day, but he is so slow...He has to sniff every blade of grass and lamp post so while I'm usually out with him for 45 minutes, we might only walk 3km!

I went to the gym after drop off this morning and after sitting in my car for 15 mins procrastinating, I went in and did 40 mins of weights and core work. My hip has been niggling me so I need to make sure that doesn't get worse. I think I'm coming apart at the seams...

Happy weekend everyone!

Days exercised 136.

iloveeverykindofcat · 07/10/2022 16:46

@MotherForkinShirtBalls Oh I'm the same, it has to be first thing. I'm 100% a morning person, wake up early and fall asleep early and I hate the winter when its dark until the middle of the morning. Exercising in the evening is my idea of hell.

CrimsonAlligator · 07/10/2022 20:24

I’m a night owl, but have to exercise first thing as well. Otherwise I have zero chance of falling asleep at a reasonable time 😬

Today’s exercise: 40 minute slow & steady row.

PeloFondo · 07/10/2022 20:31

I'm an evening person! Always exercise after work, but I work from home. So it's nice to finish, then I get straight on the bike, shower and it's like a mini commute to break up work/home

Doing an FTP test tomorrow, pray for me. 20 mins max effort to see where my fitness is at

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 08/10/2022 09:37

When I first started getting fit (my first of many couch to 5k programmes) i used to do it in the evenings. I figured it was better to be running instead of sitting on the couch eating biscuits! I have always been a night owl but since having kids, and I had to be up earlier, now I'm torn. I wake automatically about 7.30 but have to fight myself to go to bed early enough to get enough sleep. I'm like a toddler...if I sleep later in the morning i don't sleep the next night and I'm not good at being told what to do, even by myself Blush

Anyway I've been out for a short run (couch to 5k programme again) this morning.

Days exercised 137.

CrimsonAlligator · 09/10/2022 09:38

As a fellow night owl, I so recognise that feeling @MotherForkinShirtBalls. I know I should go to bed at a reasonable time and that not doing so will make me feel terrible, but that’s still not enough to actually do something about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today’s exercise: 3 x 10 minutes row at anaerobic threshold. That was my first attempt at sprint training after 2 weeks of not feeling up to that due to a nasty cold. It went ok, but now everything hurts 😬

PeloFondo · 09/10/2022 13:17

FTP test done
Not a great increase hut I've lost 18lbs so I'm just glad it didn't drop (power to weight and all that!)

iloveeverykindofcat · 09/10/2022 13:35

@PeloFondo congrats! How do you get the test done? On an app? I'm back to yoga and will be doing gym tomorrow early. Let's see if I can lift some heavier weights. Back to work tomorrow, doesn't feel like I've had much of a holiday as I was ill in the middle of it but I'm alright now. Still at least it was a mental break.

It's on the peloton app, so I just did it on there
Basically 20 mins max power than you can sustain for that long. It's awful Grin

SophieLion · 09/10/2022 17:04

7km run - outside! Much better than treadmill!

Days exercised 185

CrimsonAlligator · 10/10/2022 19:55

Today’s exercise: 5 minutes variable intervals, followed by a 1 km row...repeated 4 times. I’ve discovered muscles I didn’t realise I had 😄

PeloFondo · 10/10/2022 20:14

15 min barre class. My bum was screaming 4 mins in Grin

iloveeverykindofcat · 11/10/2022 07:09

@PeloFondo That 'why do I do this to myself' feeling. Feels good after though. In real life I'm a very non-aggressive person so I get on the cross-trainer and listen to angry music and pretend I'm some kind of badass who could survive a post-apocalyptic societal breakdown. (I wouldn't last a week tbh but it gets me through the workout).

CrimsonAlligator · 11/10/2022 12:37

Today’s exercise: 6 x 3 minutes at 5k race speed. The battery in my heart rate monitor has ran out, so I ended up pushing myself harder than I normally would. I’m not very good at pacing myself 😬

roonetta · 11/10/2022 13:07

Hahaha these posts had me laughing 😆. Well done ladies, keep up the aggressive workouts!

I had to look back quite far to find my last post. I have done the following:

Walk to/from work Friday
Absolutely jack shit Saturday and Sunday Blush
Walk to/from work Monday
I noticed Caroline Girvan had uploaded a short full body workout so I did that today with light weights and plenty of arm/elbow/wrist supports.

Days exercised 157

CrimsonAlligator · 12/10/2022 10:50

Today’s exercise: 4, 3, 2, 1 and 0.5 km rows at increasing speeds.

It was very satisfying to dig deep at the end, when I thought I’d used up all my energy, to find that I still had a sprint in me 😊

roonetta · 12/10/2022 16:02

3 mile WWL

Hello 👋 I've hurt my back. It was last week (but I was naughty and ran on Sunday - although that hasn't bothered it) . It's an old
Injury.
Missing exercising but don't want to risk it until I feel ok.

Glad you are all going for it!!!!

roonetta · 13/10/2022 20:47

Sorry to hear that Sophie. Hope it doesn't put you out of action for too long Flowers.

Walk to/from work today

I've had a few days off, trying to convince myself my cycling fitness won't vanish in 5 days
Insomnia has hit hard this week and I've been too tired to exercise
