Welcome all to the 2022 distance challenge thread!

Any form of self-powered movement which you can log distance for; any distance in whatever units you like for your own personal challenge!

A rather soggy 6km this morning - total so far 18km (run)

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2022 14:50

Thankshope you feel better soon, SkiRun.

It's cold and clear here today, so we went to the next big river up, 12.7km. Forecast looks ok for tomorrow and then dire for a few days, so were getting out while we can.

39.8km walked.

First day back to work, so my rate will slow down now, but I managed to jump on the stationary bike (DH's and my Xmas present to/from each other!) for a quick 7km.
Total: 35.5km (7.0 run, 28.5 bike)

Slobberstops · 04/01/2022 20:44

Am still not running but as the sleep deprivation ends I will start. Have attached some puppy cuteness:)

Oh what a gorgeous pup!
Freezing cold in the dark very slow (but it all counts, right!) 2.2 miles this p.m.
Covid tests negative so back to school tomorrow so will try to get a lunch walk in as only done 3 miles against that goal.

11.5/1000 run

rrhuth · 04/01/2022 22:24

4.5 miles today, so in total now done 15.5 miles.

The sunshine was really beautiful and I walked past a local landmark that looked amazing. I am trying to not listen to anything or phone anyone and just walk like it is 1990 or something. Very relaxing and nice to have the brain space.

Tarahumara · 05/01/2022 06:42

Ah gorgeous pup!

MuesliNameChange · 05/01/2022 07:06

I'd like to join please. I can only walk (long term health issue) and am limited in how much I can do, but I am hoping to slightly increase my strength and stamina over the year. At the moment my max possible walking distance is 3km, and I can't manage it every day - I can sustainably manage probably 13km per week which would be 676 over the year. But if I can manage to slowly improve over the year, hopefully I can increase it a bit. So my goal is to manage at least 676km this year, with a stretch goal of 750km.

It will be lovely to be part of the thread with you all, thanks very much for starting it OP - best of luck everyone and lots of motivational best wishes for all of us! Smile

If you count lengths you work it out.

I am low tech Grin

UnaOfStormhold · 05/01/2022 07:23

I fell short of my target for last year (930/1000 miles run) so I'm extra motivated this year. 13.6 miles so far.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/01/2022 09:07

Welcome to yet more!
That sounds like a great plan, Muesli.

4.5 miles today / 20 miles TTD

Tarahumara · 05/01/2022 14:10

6.4km run this morning - cold but sunny.

takingmytimeonmyride · 05/01/2022 14:23

Can I join please?

I have done walk 1000miles for the last couple of years, did just over 1,300 last year.

I also wanted to cycle 1000 miles but didn't actually log all my rides so have no idea how many miles I did.

So far I've ridden 18 miles this year, and walked nearly 20 miles. I count all my steps towards it as I can't be bothered separating actual walks out on my Fitbit.

TabithaTittlemouse · 05/01/2022 14:37

Yesterday was a short walk bringing my total to 22.7 km.

I haven’t left the house today! I need to take the dog out and get walking!

ErrolTheDragon · 05/01/2022 14:50

Another cold but bright day here - 9.4km

49.2 walked.

StEval · 05/01/2022 18:37

4K run and 7K walk = 11km

KendallRoysRabbit · 05/01/2022 21:05

Hi everyone - it's so inspiring to hear all the miles you're logging Smile

3 mile run today
Total miles: 12.6

Zampa · 05/01/2022 21:17

Great going everyone!

It's too cold to exercise outdoors for me so I've done everything inside so far this year!

Static bike - 16.1km
Rowing machine - 5km
Treadmill running - 6.4km
Walking - 2.2km

Total - 29.7km

Strength session tomorrow so no Kms to be achieved until Friday now.

Jumbojem · 05/01/2022 22:23

Evening everyone!
This thread is super motivating, well done all!
So much for a lunch time walk in the sun, realised I'm behind with work and it was taking me longer than I expected. So managed a quick match to the post office and back before it closed. If it's sunny tomorrow I'm definitely getting out for a better walk as my mood and concentration much better afterwards.

rrhuth · 05/01/2022 22:29

Just wanted to say thanks @ErrolTheDragon for this thread as it has cheered up my first week back Brew

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/01/2022 22:39

@ErrolTheDragon that's what I thought too, there's no way anyone could do that within 3 days! It's definitely the 2022 challenge though so I don't see why anyone would start before Jan 1st?!

Low mileages for me at the moment as I'm back at work and it's very busy. plus I'm full of cold and sneezes, annoyingly. DC are back at school tomorrow though so I'll get in 5K+ on walking there and back twice Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 05/01/2022 22:40

My pleasure!Smile
I fear tomorrow will be one of the (relatively few) days when it's wet all day where I live - other parts of the country not so bad though.
