Moruing everyone - well done on the miles, the views, the perserverence!

Speaking of broken - my knee is incredibly painful, and I don't know what to do. I've followed all the physio's advice, adapted my running pace and distance, added some strength and stretching.

I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and rest it fully for a week, and just stick with walking and do some cycling. See if that fixes it.

It's really not a pain I want to live with for the rest of my life - so let's see if this works.

I'll report back in a week....

*Morning

Iamblossom · 22/04/2021 10:54

Really sorry to hear of injuries and pains. I hope you all recover quickly. Agree with resting suggestion, a week out of your running life is worth it if the injury heals right?

3 miles on treadmill this morning, I run so much slower on it than outside 🙄

Thanks, @lamblossom - I think a week is a fair amount of time to see if it heals it. Not so long to have an impact, I hope.

Well done on the treadmill!

IRun4Me · 22/04/2021 12:42

My tiredness is just age. Need to remember I’m not 25 anymore but double that and need to look after myself a bit better.
Sorry to hear about the knee 50footwave hope the rest is what is needed.
Lovely run with the dog this morning, the sun was out, I went with the flow and really enjoyed it. Just one of those perfect runs.

Thanks, @IRun4Me.

I had a nice walk this morning, and I'm (sea) swimming tomorrow, so I'm hardly short of things to do! Just frustrating, cos I LOVE RUNNING. Grin

Purpleraindeer · 22/04/2021 17:01

Easy run for me today. Bit tired as was only 12hrs after yesterday’s intervals.

@Iamblossom - well done on the treadmill. I am always faster on the treadmill than outside but I find persevering on the treadmill so hard so I avoid it!

@50FootWave I’ve had to rest for a week on physio orders before. It really helped me recover quicker in the long run. Sea swimming sounds like a good alternative.

@Iamblossom I find the treadmill harder than outside so tend to completely avoid it.

2 interval sessions and a lovely river trail run to add from me.

I have summoned up the courage to join a running group. It starts at 7pm. Have never run with a group before - am hoping it goes all right

emummy · 22/04/2021 18:36

Good luck!

Good luck @MirandaWest. It can take a few sessions to get into them, so don’t worry if you don’t click. Especially at the moment as people are busy reconnecting with people they haven’t seen for ages so might forgot to talk to the newbies.

10 social miles today. I’ve also fixed a date for own attempt of Race to the Stones. I have a few people who are happy to act as support crew

Hi , can I join? I run quite a bit and am in a local running club . I'm due to run in the London Marathon in October , if it will be happening . If not I will run a local one in September, if it will happen. I trained for London for May 2020 and Oct 2020 so really want this one to happen. I have kept up a good level of training since so am ready for more intensity soon.

emummy · 23/04/2021 11:52

Exciting @Amaura!
Welcome @Teawaster! Hope London goes ahead for you - is it your first marathon? Sounds like you will be very well trained!

Rested my ankle for 4 days, strapped up for 2 days with KT Tape and it has recovered. Managed a sociable 7 miles this morning and ankle feels fine.
50FootWave hope the sea swimming helps.

Running group was good. Although I think I slightly overestimated my ability to keep up with the runners in the group I was with - they were just a little quicker than my comfortable pace although I did manage to talk while running and the hour went by quickly!

Will go back next week but this time I will go for the slightly slower paced group Grin

Thanks @emummy .
I ran a Marathon in 2019 . I also ran 2 many years ago , before kids and life took over . I took up running at 29 and a year later , ran my first marathon. The confidence of youth! Then I continued to run for fun but no races until I started Parkrun and then joined a running club when my husband died a few years ago.

Teawaster · 23/04/2021 18:02

6 miles today along the coast today . Lovely day for it .

Ah, you know what you’re doing then! Pre-kids running was definitely easier!
Sorry to hear about your husband.

Was my long run today - ran along by the river into town, round the walls and back the other side of the river Smile

21 miles today, was a bit of an effort actually. Mixture of reasons but also the first long run in ages I’ve not met someone along the way to break the run up. Some recovery miles yesterday too
