6 miles today . I try and do a quick one on Saturdays . Was pleased with my time despite forgetting to wear my 'fast' trainers and it was quite windy too. Another lovely sunny day here

@Amaura , are you marathon Training ? 21 miles is great going

Purpleraindeer · 24/04/2021 14:16

Beautiful run today! 24miles so was a long un. Felt surprisingly ok at the end but quite sleepy now.

@Amaura - you and I were both slogging away on our long runs today! I’m doing race to the stones this year. I’ve been wanting to do it for ages so I’m excited. I’m doing the 2 day version as I really liked the idea of doing 2 days and camping.

@MirandaWest well done on going to the running club. I’ve never been brave enough.

@Purpleraindeer I live about 2/3 the way along the Ridgeway so I get good training ground. My RTTS effort is not until August though, hence being a few weeks behind you in training. Sounds like your progress is more than on track.

@Teawaster I’m doing a mountain race in September so training is similar to an Ultra, but lots of hills. Finding the time commitment starting to bite now that children’s clubs etc are back on

PaddingtonPaddington · 25/04/2021 08:44

20 mile trail run in the forest yesterday. Was glorious weather and lovely scenery. Taper time now for me as I found a trail race with spaces last minute in 2 weeks time.

Must have been the day for long runs yesterday, well done all.

Good luck with your race @PaddingtonPaddington.
Short easy forest run today; sunny, beautiful, no one else around, just perfect! Keeping it short to make sure my heel is ok before ultra training starts in May.

Who invented back to back runs 😴

12 rather broken up miles, squeezed them around taking children to their activity and back, with a bit of homework before finishing the last few miles

Lovely club run among the bluebells today - what a lovely yearly tradition!

Somewhat to my surprise I'm still hanging on in the top 10 for the club's elevation challenge - everyone's so much more experienced than me I was sure I'd be nowhere but fingers crossed I keep my spot for the next 5 days!

Easy ‘recovery’ run today. Felt knackered after yesterday’s efforts. Makes me a bit apprehensive re running 50k 2 days running in July!

Well done on the club challenge @UnaOfStormhold

Morning all.

Wow - a week off runnnig and my knee feels amazing. So of course I've been for a gentle 3 miles this morning...

..this week will be a bit of an experiment to see what I can get away with, but I have never felt such relief at the pain going away.

Note to future self - rest is a good thing when you need to recover!

Hello, lost you all there for a while. Sounds like some good running has been done!

My foot had a complete tantrum after physio so I ended up skipping a Sunday run, then it had another one last week because I put some insoles into my non-running trainers for the school run and it Did Not Like - put pressure on the worst possible place. So I had an extra rest day with a lot of icing, but then I did 5k in the woods pain free (walking and running). I actually had a little cry in the woods because I’d thought that my foot had gone back to square one and I’d really damaged it again Blush Then I did 5 miles on Sunday again pain free, and today it feels good as well - I’m wiggling it around all over the place and I can’t make it hurt at all. So tomorrow I start marathon training! I’ve decided that I’m going to drop the extra run the plan calls for in favour of extra strength training plus a longer bike ride after school with DS, which we always do to get Friday cake.

So 11 miles to add since I last posted:

Sounds like lots of lovely runs happening.

I’m trying to sort my pacing out at the moment. I used to be fine but it seems to have gone to pot recently. I can’t judge whether I’m going slow or fast. Hopefully it’ll settle back down.
Nice run with the dog.

11 miles from me this morning . Warm day here today . Although I have been doing lots of miles in total weekly , this is the first time I have done over 10 miles since I stopped training for VLM last summer when it was deferred until this October . I realised that in the lead up to the last Marathon Training I did and when training for the VLMs which never happened, I would have done a few halves so I thought I would start to do a bit more

3 good runs, trying to get out before I become a full time taxi for DC. Will miss my longer Sunday runs 😕

About to go out for my first official marathon training session, feeling weirdly nervous even though it’s only three miles BlushConfused What’s that all about?!

Iamblossom · 27/04/2021 12:18

@Spudlet I know what that feels like Grin, weird isn't it.

Although my marathon training has come to a grinding halt, think I peaked at 12 miles, that or put myself right off really long runs with how hard I found it.... Hmm

3 miles dog jog this morning. I found the hills tough going but felt amazing when I'd finished.

@Spudlet . I feel nervous before a parkrun even though I have done over 100! Hope your training got off to a good start .

8 miles today in slightly windy but sunny conditions . Legs felt a bit tired after doing 11 quick miles yesterday but I still did it faster than my 8 miles last week so pleased with that

Spudlet · 27/04/2021 15:35

I’m glad it’s not just me - isn’t it daft though? 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, did my three miles no problem, only the most muted of protests from The Grumbly Foot. So I’ve iced it as a precaution and hopefully I’ll be good to go again on Thursday. I have my first vaccination on Sunday afternoon so I guess next week may need to be a light one - we’ll see!

Purpleraindeer · 27/04/2021 18:53

@Spudlet - glad it went ok. I get nervous before every long (15+) run I do!

5.5 lovely peaceful miles today. Was so quiet. Only saw 2 dog walkers and no one else. Was a bit spooky. Was ‘easy’ but my legs feel sore now so I think I’m still tired from the weekend.

@50FootWave glad the resting worked. Must be a relief.

@Spudlet great to have a plan to follow. Good luck.

Lots of great runs being added.

2 lots of intervals from Monday & Tuesday.
