Nice steady run around town this morning, just after sunrise. Been looking out my reflective gear and head torch but not needed yet.

Wet and windy parkrun this morning with half the number of normal numbers. I was very thankful to the volunteers this morning everyone was soaked. I did see someone I know ‘cheat’ turned far too early deliberately up in front of me so I ran to catch up and cheekily tapped her on shoulder said “are you cheering with a laugh” then carried on but then saw she has claimed a time on the results for 4.5km run Hmm why do people do that?? She’s an experienced runner not a newbie! I’ll add 4.5m as I ran to/from the car as well.

“Cheating” not cheering

IRun4Me · 02/10/2021 17:37

That doesn’t sound good SkiRun. Just remember with people like that they are just cheating themselves. But still not fair.
Thought I ought to do a bit of training for my half in a couple of weeks. Wasn’t too bad in the end.

Baffling why you would cheat at parkrun! You’ll always know your times are false. Weird!
Long run this morning through forest and up big hills, got turned back from my original route when the mist came down. Felt much better than last week, lovely sunshine but only 5 degrees, more my kind of temperature!

That's a wonderful view @emummy. Where is it if you don't mind my asking?

11 miles on Friday morning.
Week 6 C25K with dd this afternoon, followed by another 5k on the same route by myself.

It’s in Aberdeenshire @xsquared, on an estate called Glen Tanar which is full of great trails.

Dragged myself out for a Garmin induced hill repeats session. DH is on call so used the "hill" at the bottom of our road which isn't quite long enough for the required 400m but there was a decent headwind on the flat bit. Definitely struggle with motivation when DH is on call because I'm bored of the local roads but at least got something done.

Got offered a free place at a local 5 mile race, since I didn’t think I’d be up proper racing I offered to pace someone for a sub 40. He’s been trying for ages to hit it, pleased to say I got him in 23 secs under time and he got a 69 sec Pb. Is nerve racking though having that responsibility.

Went out for a half this afternoon and a leg loosener run Friday after Thursdays more energetic than planned interval session. Could tell the hill race was still in my legs.

That was a great trail session @emummy. I’ve had my reflective vest and torch out a few weeks now

How sad to cheat at a parkrun

Well done @randomsabreuse on the hill session. I’ve definitely had a solo running block lately

SkiRun0077 · 04/10/2021 18:35

Just had the realisation that as small person is away with school tonight I have no excuse for a early run tomorrow (as no school run to do) but then looked at weather forecast is heavy rain warning 🙈I really prefer running first thing… I’ll have to wait for it to pass as as much as I like running in the rain I don’t particularly like starting in downpour rain Grin

SkiRun0077 · 04/10/2021 18:38

Just looked up the Glen Tanar Estate what a fabulous location I’d love to explore that. My DH would be in utter heaven running trail with no folk about Smile Complete opposite end of the country to me though but I’d love to see it in the winter snow.

emummy · 04/10/2021 19:10

It is great @SkiRun0077; there are easy marked trails for families, but you can go for miles and there’s even a Munro if you fancy a wee mountain. Beautiful part of the world.

Lovely picture. I’m very jealous.
Well done Amaura on your pacing.
Tired slog of a run but I went out.

Currently lying in bed with a horrible cold feeling sorry for myself and hoping that I am well enough for Great South Run next weekend. Ah well, at least my legs should be well rested!

emummy · 09/10/2021 08:46

Oh no @UnaOfStormhold! I had that cold, it was foul. Hope you feel better soon.
Steady country road run this morning, gorgeous sunrise and didn’t meet another soul.

Braved the district XC race with my club today. Hilly, looping course, worst bit was not the last steep hill but the soul destroying somewhat uphill loop away from the finish starting around 50 metres from the finish. Wasn't particularly muddy fortunately... Longest 4k of my life!
