Lovely social 5 mile run with friend yesterday. Park run today, which was slow. Wished I hadn’t had a glass of fresh orange before I left and it was all I could taste.

Lovely running everyone; I have a stinking cold so not running today, disappointed not to get another run around Glasgow but never mind. All being well Dd will be here for 5 years so I should get another chance!

C25K with dd followed by 3 reps of the hill loops (3.5 miles).

Second half of the weekend over, so relieved. All the angst about water and all the water stations had plastic cups so I was glad I didn't take my backpack although I did need it yesterday. Much faster run today but very boring two laps along our local seafront but it was good to see and wave at other members of our club running the other way.

Brilliant@KitchenFishCurry, very well done!
Well done in the hills @xsquared!

Thank you @emummy. I hope you feel better soon.

Amaura · 14/09/2021 07:37

Well done @KitchenFishCurry what a great achievement

No more running from me, still in taper. Starting to worry I need to buy some shoes that are friendlier in mud given all the rain we’re due. Did my last workout last night, a few short easy runs planned this week and last climbing session tonight before the event on Saturday.

xsquared · 15/09/2021 09:59

Planned an 11 mile route but ended up doing 13.3 miles.

Starting to train for the great South Run (left it a bit late) next month. I do gentle running so not a complete novice! What running apps do you use? I have been trying map my run but it is very temperamental - screen going blank and not sensitive retrieving it to see how far I have run. Finding running in the heat a killer.

emummy · 15/09/2021 20:39

I use my Garmin watch just @Earlybird00; I gave up on mapmyrun when it failed me in a race, too many people trying to use phones at once I think! Runkeeper is a popular one I think. Good luck with the training.

First run since Saturday, cold still hanging about but much better. Took it easy, nice cool damp morning here so perfect for running.

Finally got out for my first run this week. Garmin Plan had a 1 mile time trial after 2 miles warm up and after bailing several times due to not fancying doing that within 3 hours of a meal and not planning my days well to get out before dinner (plus a hard fencing session) I finally got it done and it was my fastest mile yet (8.23 so not amazing but I'm still pleased). It was also on the local cinder track rather than downhill (my best 1k time is downhill) or on the proper bouncy track so even though I've lost 2 VO2 max points I've not lost too much fitness.

Luckily I'm going to be able to sneak in a parkrun on Saturday as limited other opportunities this weekend. Might try to get an easy recovery run in tomorrow as well!

Hopefully will be more consistent with the plan next week having been a bit inconsistent for a couple of months (since Ben More killed my legs on the way down) and since I finally got back to fencing.

A few runs this week . 8 miles on Tuesday nice and gentle. Club run last night 6 miles on all the hills and 2 miles this morning took my car to the garage and tried to run fast home. I never really know what I’m doing with pace until I get home and look on strava.
Tomorrow I have to run back to get the car but with a diversion to get my flu jab

Nice easy run in the woods for me this morning, feeling better but nose still running like a tap! Off to parkrun for a spot of marshalling now

Weather was perfect, a bit drizzle in the morning, cloud lifted off the tops not long after the first ascent and just a few bits of sun so not too hot.

I’ll have to do the maths later, can’t find think properly yet. I finished it 30mins ahead of my goal. 18 miles but over 8000ft in a bit under 6.5 hrs

That's amazing @Amaura. What a lovely view too.

Did week 5 run 1 of C25K with dd followed by hill reps for just over 3 miles.

Thanks all (especially @emummy for the maths).

Still a bit brain foggy but have arrived home. The quad Doms pain is definitely very real tonight.

@Doublethecuddles if you can do 10.5 you’ve got the half down no problem (just no injuring yourself by doing too much)

Off for lots of 💤🛌

IRun4Me · 20/09/2021 15:04

Sorry I fell off the thread for a while. Still been out running regularly just ticking over. Nice short run yesterday whilst child at an activity but more humid than I realised.
I’ll work out my September mileage and also have a proper thread read.

Lovely autumnal run this morning, through fields and woods.

Amaura thank you, it’s a very flat course so I will definitely miss the momentum from running up and down hills!
