3 good runs this weekend, discovered a lovely woodland trail, on Saturday decided to investigate it further, took a wrong turn and ended up climbing up a vertical mountain bike track. Today I wasn’t planning it but had the time and climbed up one of the local steep roads. Was really pleased as it was 755 feet I climbed, including the steep hill home. I clicked the Strava Challenge of run climbing challenge of 2000 meters in July and have 15 meters left to go.
Runs seem to be less frequent but longer at the moment.

Hope everyone is coping with the heat.

emummy what a lovely husband you have. Running in the heat with no shade is really tough.

After a week of dog walking, cycling and swimming I got back out tonight for a very humid 23c at 8pm 3.5m. Testing out sore hip/leg and it seemed to hold up ok. Will try again on Wednesday as really need to start getting the miles back in.

Sorry to hear about bad runs and lack of motivation. I have the motivation but not the energy. Think I’ve got to the age where I need to actually look after myself better, I’m also acquiring a middle aged spread even though I’m the fittest I’ve probably been for years.
Get very jealous when I read about others with amazing hills. Though I will admit the jealousy does ebb away when I’m running my very flat routes.
A couple of runs to add.

I didn’t wake up any sorer than I went to bed so fingers crossed the run has helped rather than hinded. I think the peri-menopause is causing me shit joint aches n pains in the last six months that I’ve never really had before so I’m determined to keep moving as it helps more than gaining weight and being a couch potato but it’s a lot harder than it used to be! Booked a pool swim for tonight to keep on a roll this week.

@IRun4Me

I'm very lucky where I live as I have a canal plus railway routes for flat together with "useful" hills available without driving and scenic hills not too far away! The only issue is it takes discipline not to just run on the flat...

Got out for 5 miles on Sunday and have a tough/interesting looking track session tonight.

Early but very humid 5k ended up doing 4x laps of local park but it’s hilly so was rather red faced by time I got home. I didn’t want to go to far as I’d left DDs watching TV.

Nice wee tempo run this morning, thankfully the mad downpours of yesterday seem to have gone!

Managed to get a 5k PB last night after a few days off at the end of the club training plan. Hard work and I had to talk myself into starting and out of stopping, but managed to take 3 mins off my PB :D Looking forward to returning to a steadier tempo in preparation for 10mile and half marathon races in the autumn.

Well done @UnaOfStormhold that’s a fab achievement.

Steady 4m early this morning but had to run/walk the last mile as knee/IT band niggling which is frustrating but eased off once I jeffed abit so I’m hoping this maybe a way for me to ramp up the miles again.

Doublethecuddles · 31/07/2021 14:01

Well done UnaOfStormhold great achievement.
Biking0077 hope the knee doesn’t become too troublesome and you can run through it.

Very wet 8 1/2 mile run this morning to complete my Strava 200km in July challenge. Ran with a friend along the beach on Thursday and had a good catch up. Solo hilly run on Wednesday, I am starting to get used to hills as usually I run along the beach.

Good steady run today, much less unpleasant than last week! Got drenched a couple of times, then dried by the sun. Pleased to have done it after doing a hill walk yesterday with a work group. Just a wee hill they said, yes, just 2800 feet! So I am pretty stiff now, going to take it easy for the rest of the day.

Gosh that’s some climb @emummy hope the legs recovery well.

Had a really disappointing run this morning went out to do 6m, got to 3m ok then run/walk to 4m as IT / knee niggling but had to stop and walk the rest with DH picking me up once I got back to the road at 5.5m Sad but after ice pack & foam roller it seems fine again! I never had this before it’s like the muscle to side of top of knee/ side of knee cramps up. I’m thinking IT band as always had tight hip/hamstring got another sports massage booked in 2wks but will see if I can get on her cancellation list as she has magic fingers. Need to set a daily reminder for squats & lunges too for strengthening I think. Bloomin nervous now as I’ve got a 14m trail adventure event booked in 6wks and the back up plan was we’d walk it as a last resort & still make the 6hr cut off but now I may not manage that.

Biking0077 · 01/08/2021 15:06

I’ll add my 4m though Smile

IRun4Me · 01/08/2021 15:32

Oh no biking0077 hope the leg gets better soon.
Had a lovely run this morning. Had been out last night so wasn’t expecting much but just went with the flow and ended up doing 8 1/2 miles. I did think about going a bit further but decided best to stop whilst the going was good.
New mileage month. Biking do yours need to stay on the July total or move to august?

A sociable 5 mile beach run this morning. Had a lovely days cycling with DC in Angus Glens on Tuesday. Quiet roads with very little traffic. It was a long time since I had cycled so far.

Biking0077 I hope you recover quickly*

We managed to make it away on holiday so have been having a busy time with lots of windsurfing, tennis, yoga and other activities. I fitted in my first bits of run tourism which is a lovely way to explore a new area. Meantime I am researching different half marathon plans for when I get back from holiday.

emummy · 07/08/2021 08:21

Sounds like a great holiday @UnaOfStormhold. Do you have a half marathon booked?

Steady run in the rain last night through local woods and nice gym session this morning; slightly regretting my decision to stay up late to watch the Olympic marathon last night!
