Technical troubles with IPad and Strava which have been sorted.

Have managed 5 runs since last post.

Lactate intervals on weds and easy run today. Ran in the evening today and found it really hard to not bring the stress of the day into the run. I am definitely a morning runner.

@Purpleraindeer ok now I have to know what lactate runs are...Hmm

Hot dusty run with dogs

IRun4Me · 28/05/2021 15:57

I’m also wanting to know what a lactate interval is??

I have got to the point where I’ll say - just a short 5k- but I definitely count it as exercise. And some days it feels like a slog.

Hot, sunny run yesterday. Was in town so lots of people out enjoying the sunshine rather than the ghost town it had been for a while.

I’ve added my mileage to purpleraindeer as lamblossom seems to have gone backwards.

Evening run in the sun today; goi g to start using our local gym and it only open at weekends just now- they’re using the sports centre for vaccinations through the week. So moved my Saturday am run to Friday evening and tomorrow sees my first gym session since 2002!

Good luck at the gym @emummy!

Lactate intervals are long intervals. Lactate pace is the fastest pace you can sustain for an hour. The session I did was 10min at 10k ish pace then 5min faster and repeat. They are good to build aerobic capacity rather than speed. It was a bit knackering though. Was a rest day today thank goodness.

emummy · 29/05/2021 09:58

Lactate intervals sound tough @Purpleraindeer, well done! Survived the gym, quite enjoyed it actually. Stuck to my plan & did about 25 minutes, hopefully won’t be too sore tomorrow.

They do sound tough purpleraindeer
Glad you enjoyed the gym emummy it’s ages since I’ve been to one.

Yes, tell us, @Purpleraindeer, I want to know too! I;m also a morning runner.

Hope the gym was ok, @emummy and enjoyed yourself.

Beautiful here, will certanly be swimming this afternoon, and will try and coax DS in too, if only for a splash around! And ice cream, of course...

Adding my 10 for the week over three runs.

Purpleraindeer · 30/05/2021 07:28

Hope you’re not too sore @emummy - I find the rare occasions when I’ve done gym stuff make me super sore the next day.

Away for a few days so had a nice run in a new place yesterday but took me ages as spent most of my time map checking. My plan said intervals but it seemed such a waste to do intervals on the road when I could run through the beautiful countryside instead

Feeling good this morning, no sore bits! Think that’s because I’d been doing strength training at home and also I stuck to my plan of a gentle start in the gym and resisted the temptation to do one more set!
Absolutely gorgeous here this morning, beautiful run through the forest and back along the river.

50 miles this week including two mountain days. Took a tumble today, was fine, but I did lose my mojo for a while (not helped by a boggy heather ascent up the first Munro).

Have decided to convert miles in the running plan to time on feet to compensate the hills.

Will go and catch up on the week now

8 miles in the sun today - along the canal towpath mostly, so it was lovely and flat. Foot was quite compliant during but is now occasionally asking me what the hell I was thinking - hopefully it will be feeling better tomorrow. I’m completely pooped now and just fell asleep after dinner Blush

Glad to see people have been enjoying the good weather and niggles are staying at bay

Doublethecuddles · 30/05/2021 19:59

Lovely to see that people have had sunny runs. The problems of living on the east coast is haar. Two runs this weekend both in thick haar, it did burn off later in the day.

50FootWave · 31/05/2021 08:29

Wow, @Amaura, great pics, hope you are ok?

Lovely run this morning but legs felt really heavy after weights session yesterday. I'm not complaining, I'm grateful I can manage to squat after months of The Knee!

UnaOfStormhold · 31/05/2021 09:18

I had a lighter week to recover between last Sunday's half and starting faster 5k plan with my running club this week. Like others I've been enjoying the weather, including a lovely run yesterday down through the woods and to the sea - the contrast somehow makes both more special.

9 miles today up a solo Munro before driving home. Last day of May so thought I’d jot it down. Would have got a crown had I not stopped in a river to wash stuff off

I have been in the mountains too @Amaura. No chance of a crown. Has been humbling to see how slow I am compared to some on Strava segments. I do enjoy it though - but it was hard work in the heat. I’m also terrible on the downs - I slow to a crawl like an old lady! But, my big triumph is that I didn’t get DOMS this time so I must be getting better.

Nice one @Purpleraindeer. I was lucky today as I had a dried up boggy heathery descent. I’m shockingly slow on rock, which is embarrassing considering I climb. Thinking I might need a course before my race.

PaddingtonPaddington · 31/05/2021 21:13

Lovely photos all.

Fell off this thread somewhat. Last time I posted early May I was in taper for my trail race but unfortunately became ill and had to do the sensible thing and miss it followed by a couple of weeks off running. Gutted as I’d done all the training but there’s always another race.

Anyway back now so adding my mileage for May to the total
