FGS, miles NOT from Tuesday, just from today...my brain is clearly fried...

IRun4Me · 22/05/2021 08:49

A couple of runs to add. One very windy. I do wish the weather would get better soon. Bored of it now.
Did a run in a different place while DS was at an activity. Did have to keep stopping to check the map as didn’t want to head off too far or get lost. But it was nice to run in a different place even if was busier and all on road.

Nice sunny run this morning but yes, too windy. And a north wind so not warm! Enjoyed it though.

I love a run in a new place @IRun4Me.

Nice run today. Didn’t even rain (which is the new definition of nice run!). Has got super muddy again here.

Lovely run today in sunshine, through countryside & town, waved to the Heilan’ coos! They didn’t seem interested!

Hello coos!

Great run for me too today, no grumbles from the foot at all! Which is a relief because I was slightly concerned that it might play up. Stuck to walk-run today, and felt like I had plenty in the tank until right at the very end, which I was pleased with as I had a bit of indigestion last night and didn’t sleep terribly well. 6 miles done as this was a bit of a step-down week in the training plan. I wore my Christmas snowflake leggings in at attempt to shame the weather into behaving itself... Grin

Managed my second half marathon -felt a bit tired and stiff setting off but was ok once I was about 5k in and even managed to pick up the pace in the last few km. I'm currently feet up on the sofa with an ice pack on my knees which can get a bit sore after long runs. Lovely run though, exploring some lovely trails in some nearby woods - boggy going in places so not as fast as my previous attempt but lovely to see all the new lush green everywhere.

Well done @UnaOfStormhold, looks lovely!
Glad the foot is behaving @Spudlet

Felt tired this week so took a bonus recovery week. Finding it difficult now all the children’s clubs and activities are back on to schedule everything.

30 miles to add for the week

Easy run today. Really wasn’t feeling up to much when I left the house but felt better when I was out - it’s often the way isn’t it?

Well done @UnaOfStormhold - I really enjoy a muddy woodland trail.

5km round a playing field in the rain on Friday, 3km cross country with dogs on Saturday and 5km on a treadmill at Champneys this morning.

Cheeky spa overnighter with my sisters, very nice. Although marred by terrible tooth ache, think I've got an infection from root canal last week. 😕

Well done UnaOfStormhold. Oh no lamblossom hope the tooth settles.
Nice run with the dog. He ran through the undergrowth coming out looking like he was wearing camouflage. I decided to stick to the paths.

Thanks @irun4me. I found some Zapain from an old injury and popped two of those last night. Hope to see a dentist today. Toothache is the worst.

emummy · 25/05/2021 08:36

Good luck with the dentist @Iamblossom, toothache is just horrible.
Steady run in the rain this morning, period just started so feel yucky, back sore, plus got 2 tricky appointments today making me nervous. Not my best run! Glad it’s done anyway.

Good luck with the dentist @Iamblossom, really hope the pain settles soon! And good luck with your appointments, @emummy

Steady 3 miles in the woods today - foot wasn’t feeling too great which is annoying as it felt great on Sunday. Think I may have tweaked it a bit doing my physio exercises last night. Going to ice it up after my shower and hope for the best. I should be doing 8 miles on Sunday so hopefully it will have bucked its ideas up by then.

My post-run stretch was enlivened by what I assume was a DoE group - a small horde of teenagers with humongous rucksacks, soggy maps, and an air of slight confusion. They were evidently trying to work their way up the road to their supervisors, but for some reason, rather than either walking along the road or along the nice open path about 50 metres into the woods, they decided to make their way through the woods proper, where there is no path whatsoever ConfusedGrin There are some big old bomb holes, low branches and fallen branches and things on the floor though... hopefully their supervisors were able to find a comfy place to sit because the going was slow GrinGrin I’d have told them about the path if they’d asked, but it’s a learning experience for them... 😈

Sorry to hear re teeth and foot woes. I think it is DofE season @Spudlet. I’ve seen bedraggled groups of teenagers every weekend run I’ve done for the last few weeks. I normally ask them whether they know where they are just to be helpful. Mostly they are lost!

Was great to get out today. Rest day yesterday and easy week last week so I was full of beans (and went too fast for my easy run Blush)

IRun4Me · 26/05/2021 09:31

Ha ha spudlet I bet that made your morning. The ones around here seem to have their supervisors following at a safe distance. But it’s so flat here they’d probably have to be miles away not to be seen!!
Remember emummy a run is better than no run.
Run with the dog.

Thanks for good teeth wishes - have ABs from Dentist as apparently I am special and have a "rare" phoenix abcess. Lucky me Hmm. So pain is receding.

5km with dogs today. Enjoyed it, took it slow and steady.

Got told by my sister I do too much exercise and should take it easy. I run or swim most days, with a day "off" a week (only walk dogs on those days), and do yoga every day. Runs are often only 5kms. I don't see the problem with this?

emummy · 26/05/2021 14:04

I get this from my mum @Iamblossom, don’t know if it’s just that people who don’t exercise a lot don’t have a good grasp of what regular exercise looks like! It doesn’t seem to me that you are doing too much! As long as you listen to your body and get regular rest it should be ok.
A phoenix abscess! That’s a new one. It doesn’t burst into flame and get reborn does it?!

OP posts:
Iamblossom · 26/05/2021 16:31

Well quite @emummy, it is recommended we take 20-30 minutes of activity a day, what difference does it make if I run it, swim it or walk it?

Amaura · 26/05/2021 17:33

I’m inclined to say 5km gentle run doesn’t really count as exercise, I mean if your stationary all day for work it won’t even give you your steps. I view it as making up for the walking I’m not doing (unless you run it hard of course)

emummy · 27/05/2021 09:05

Hill reps this morning, getting warmer!

OP posts:
Iamblossom · 27/05/2021 10:29

wow @Amaura that is hardcore Grin. I definitely count a 5km run as exercise

Spudlet · 27/05/2021 11:14

Lolol 5k is definitely exercise for me GrinGrin

4 miles done today, went back to walk-run again and that seemed to help with the foot. I was going to try and introduce that fourth run of the week tomorrow but I think I’ll leave it for this week again so my foot can recover before Sunday when I have an 8 mile route planned. Looking forward to it as it’s all the way along a canal towpath, so flat as a pancake Grin
