I’m better in the morning too.
Nice easy run around local parkrun route, deliberately went slow to manage all the hills without stopping; also the tooth extraction last week messed up my sleep so not at my perkiest! Really enjoyable run

Finished my monopoly challenge after a few lucky dice rolls that worked out well for me, so I'm pleased with that. Nice easy 10k tomorrow, followed by an easy week, building up to a half next weekend. I have been wondering what to do next, as I don't think I'm ready for building up more distance just yet; my joints need a bit of time to adapt but also I don't really have enough time for more long runs. So my current plan (partly encouraged by the running club which is planning mile and 5k challenges) is to experiment with a bit more speed. I had a look at a few different plans and think I'll have a go at the Garmin 5k plan as I think doing intervals etc will be much easier with them all programmed into my watch ready for me!

I'm on the RMR facebook group but don't post there much - nice friendly group :).

I had a nice chatty run with a friend today. Wasn’t expecting to as was knackered as had really broken sleep but felt good once my legs started moving.

Hope the asthma has settled Amaura
Well done on your monopoly challenge UnaOfStormhold
A couple of very wet runs. One which turned out faster than planned because it was absolute torrential rain, the sort that actually goes through you to the bone.

Oh dear @IRun4Me! I’ve been lucky and missed downpours this week. Gorgeous sunshine this morning, stopped at the river for a bit to watch the swallows zooming about.

Oh dear, Irun4Me, a bit of rain is OK when running but getting soaked is horrible. I keep checking the weather forecast to work out when I can get out for today's 10k. This afternoon was looking like it might be OK but I now see there's a thunderstorm forecast for 2pm which I'm definitely not running in...

UnaOfStormhold · 16/05/2021 14:33

I headed out in a brief, tempting patch of sunshine. Unfortunately emphasis on the brief. I came home in the sunshine too but had got rather soaked in between - luckily no sign of thunderstorm. But I'm warm and dry again, and today's run is done.

Amaura · 16/05/2021 18:23

@Purpleraindeer along the ridgeway,

Took it easy with a slow 5km Friday, then eventually managed 26.2 miles (with 2000ft of climb) Saturday, finished with a very soggy half bimble today for my longest ever week. My plan doesn’t have me doing more than this, it drops and rises back to it a few more times.

Off to enjoy a well earned bath

I think I’ve had a lucky weekend compared to some of you. A bit of drizzle today and yesterday but not too bad. Is hammering now though. Surely we’ll run out of rain in the sky soon??? 8miles hill workout today. Was hard going after yesterday’s long run but got it done. absolutely knackered now.

Big weekend for you @Amaura. Rest up tonight!

5km with dogs yesterday. Managed to avoid the downpours. I don't actually mind running in the rain, I get soaked with sweat anyway so it's not like I'm not going to get showered and changed when I get home....not sure I want torrential though!

Good morning everyone - a bit behind with posting as work all consuming plus PhD viva prep eating up what is left of my poor brain!

Lovely to hear all the great runs happening. I managed to edge up to 4 miles on Sunday, no issues with The Knee. Back to 3.5 this morning - just happy to be running in such lovely weather and clearing my head!

So 7.5 to add from me. Happy Tuesday, all.

emummy · 18/05/2021 09:17

Good luck with the viva @50FootWave! Not easy to do and work as well! Glad The Knee is behaving.
Nice steady run in town for me today, perfect temperature for running.

Thanks, @emummy - I seem to be mostly finding mistakes at this point! Shock

Your run sounds great - temp here is also spot on.

When I was submitted my master’s dissertation I couldn’t find a reference in my list, had complete breakdown the realised it started with a different letter and was there all along.

Wow @Amaura, that’s a big weekend!

Good luck @50FootWave!

Two runs to add for me, 7 miles from Sunday and another 3 today. Was excited about both, as the 7 mile one represents the first step up I’ve done with The Grumbly Foot and it behaves itself, and then today was the first continuous run I’ve done since Easter! Well, I gave myself a short walk break each mile to assess how my foot was doing, but apart from that it was continuous. So fingers crossed everything will be ok later and tomorrow, and I can start phasing out some of the walk intervals 🤞🤞🤞

It’s been actually ok weather here as well, I’ve had my shorts on for the last three or four runs. Have applied fake tan this morning in an attempt not to blind people, and also to conceal some of the cellulite... I think I may need something closer to Polyfilla though 🙈🤣

Purpleraindeer · 18/05/2021 15:47

That sounds really encouraging @Spudlet.

It was actually almost too warm for a long sleeved top and leggings this am but I don’t feel quite ready to expose my arms and legs in shorts. Also I’m afraid I might scare peopleSmile

UnaOfStormhold · 18/05/2021 21:16

Some impressive runs going on, great work! Glad the knee is behaving 50footwave and good luck with your viva.

Had a nice club run tonight, we even managed to dodge the rain. Now planning a few rest days in the run up to doing a half on Sunday.

5 flat miles yesterday with dogs. Am really wheezy with the dregs of cold so rest day today.

Absolutely nothing at all to do with the alcohol I consumed last night INSIDE A PUB. 🙌.

IRun4Me · 20/05/2021 08:05

Inside a pub!! lamblossom how exciting. I’ve been in a cafe, don’t want to overdo it all in one go.
Had one of those runs where my heart wasn’t in it.

Short speed session this morning; getting very hot and sweaty and it’s only 9 degrees! I’m going to be a mess in the summer...

Another three miles today. Foot was not too happy, although it did settle. Have iced it and am planning to take some ibuprofen to settle it overnight. I had planned to do a very short run again tomorrow to start getting that extra run in there, but I think I’ll leave that a bit longer. Meh.

Slowly getting back into it with 5km treadmill sessions (do they count? -knees not up to outdoor running yet) - 12 miles this week not inc warm up/cool down. Yesterday was my first non-stop 5km so quite pleased esp as still aching from day before.

Purpleraindeer · 20/05/2021 21:25

Muddy hill session weds and easy run today. Was feeling quite tired so am glad of a lower mileage week this week.

@strangeshapedpotato treadmill sessions definitely count. They’re the hardest!

Thank you @Spudlet and @UnaOfStormhold for the good lucks - hope The Grumbly Foot is ok, @Spudlet - make sure you rest. I;m speaking from bitter experience with The Knee!

Lovely weather here on the coast - big bad wind and big bad waves, so adding my 3.5 from Tues & today.

@emummy I feel your pain. I proofed my thesis to death - and yet, I have managed to find over 50 small grammar errors. Gah! Still, to be expected with how much else is going on.

Happy Friday everyone.
