I'm a fat lazy slob! I'm constantly tired, grumpy, frumpy and frazzled! I'm mid forties, my hair has emigrated from my head to my multiple chins, and its time I actually started to turn my dumpy life around. Anyone want to join me? From the 1st January I'm going to start c25k using the NHS app. From 4th January I'll be giving up sugar. My aim is to get fit rather than slim, because I'm such an elephant that trying to set a weight goal will just demotivate me😂.
Everyone welcome.

W2R2 done through a snowstorm! That was different! I also appear to be getting slower Hmm only 2.5k distance in the half an hour

PaddingtonB · 08/01/2021 15:57

That’s great @Gertie1983. My route is probably about 2.5km too. I still can’t believe I will be able to run that let alone potentially twice the distance.

TottiePlantagenet · 08/01/2021 16:34

Wow Gertie1983, that's fantastic.

theotherfossilsister hope you're feeling better, and yes! I'd count a brisk walk/ jog to the book store too.

Did w2r3 today despite it being so so cold down here, luckily no snow (yet). Next week doesn't look fun 😬

Have ordered some new leggings to try on as an incentive to keep at this program. Have a good weekend everyone.

fudgecat · 08/01/2021 20:17

w1r3 done! I wasn't going to do it tonight as I've not been feeling too great today but decided to give it a go. Well done to everyone else who's run today

Kangaroo1 · 09/01/2021 11:01

W1R3 done this morning. Now sat with a big cup of tea feeling proud of myself! Well done everyone who has got out there this week 🙂

AppleKatie · 09/01/2021 11:32

I’ve stalled last couple of days as I’ve been feeling ill. Posting here for accountability though I will do my next run either this evening or tomorrow morning.

Gliblet · 09/01/2021 11:48

I'm repeating W1 so did W1R1 again this morning and am trying to do yoga on my days 'off' to stop my calves cramping up so badly Angry

FourTurnings · 09/01/2021 13:03

I ran this morning and am feeling proud of myself. Still need to lose a bit of weight though but I’m determined to get there 😀

Gertie1983 · 09/01/2021 13:17

Well done everyone who has run today, hope everyone is having a good weekend, I’m having a day off today but going for a nice long walk with a flask of tea Smile

HayleyBay · 09/01/2021 13:31

W2r2 done...in the house again! I find it easier in the house as we live in a hilly area and the ups are hard going! I'm blaming the ice for my decision though.

Singlenotsingle · 09/01/2021 13:34

I watch RedQuest at 8.00 every evening. It's a program called My 600lb Life. I use it to scare myself into not putting weight on after losing 3 st! Good luck.

theotherfossilsister · 09/01/2021 18:02

Well done to all today's frosty icy runners.

I did week one run three yesterday, but didn't log it so the app doesn't know. I guess that doesn't matter, right? It's just the smiley face thing at the end.

Today I walked to an appointment (two and a bit miles) then took the bus back, despite telling myself I'd avoid it and walk. Felt a bit bad taking the bus as I'm not a keyworker, but it was so icy.

Going back to the beach tomorrow for a run.

Have decided the book collection needs to be a walk as the path is along the riverside and I can just imagine slipping and falling in. Splash!

theotherfossilsister · 09/01/2021 18:05

Also, craving icecream, and would normally give in as have horrible PMS, but the risk of going out for just ice cream seems unforgivable at the moment, so I guess in a way this horrible bloody murderous virus is saving me from making a stupid food choice.

PaddingtonB · 10/01/2021 09:37

It is seriously cold out there. Well done everyone for keeping going! I managed W2 R2 today but it was a bit of a battle. I can’t believe this is just week 2 - feels like it should be at least a month already!

FoolsAssassin · 10/01/2021 10:58

Well done everyone!
I meant to do W2R2 but ended up having to take a call just as was going out to garage. Decided I could do both but managed to hit wrong button and quickly found it wasn't what I was expecting!!

W3R2 done

BillStickersIsInnocent · 10/01/2021 12:58

Well done everyone for keeping going. I made it out today, completed W2R2. Found it pretty hard going but it’s supposed to be challenging I guess!

AppleKatie · 10/01/2021 13:28

@FoolsAssassin 😮 did I read that right? You accidentally did a week ahead whilst talking on the phone?? Well done!

I just managed w3 r1. About halfway through I thought I’d definitely over stretched myself, by the end I thought I could go a bit more 🤷‍♀️ So make of that what you will. Was a big mental hurdle to do today after a few more days gap than planned, pleased I did though. Aim to go again Tuesday morning.

Gliblet · 10/01/2021 13:44

Well done!

And thank you to the poster who recommended Jessica Valant's beginner pilates videos, great for the days between runs Flowers

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 10/01/2021 13:47

I’ve just been chased around the park by a fitness instructor (yelling at me from a goodly distance) and have made some veggie soup. That’s me for the day!

FoolsAssassin · 10/01/2021 14:00

Yes AppleKatie but bear in mind that this is my second time doing C25K and I do go incredibly slowly, plus I did more listening than talking. But they do say go slow enough that you can hold a conversation so probably a useful exercise!

Thatisnotmyusername was the fitness instructor supposed to be chasing you?!

AppleKatie · 10/01/2021 14:04

It’s my third 😂 and I am also very slow and still couldn’t think straight for an actual conversation even if I could talk a bit! Well done though.

FoolsAssassin · 10/01/2021 14:05

Well done! DH and I were discussing it. Even when you regularly do fair distances the first few minutes are pretty shit. Then after bit you warm up and it all gets better.

So with C25K at the start you always get the rubbish bit at the start if that makes sense. By end of Feb/March it will all be very different

BillStickersIsInnocent · 10/01/2021 15:47

Thanks FoolsAssassin that’s good to know.

Cupidity · 10/01/2021 16:01

I've just started couch 2 5k. I've bribed my 7 year old DS to come on the runs with me. Seem to spend most of my time shouting at him to slow down a bit during the runs so he doesn't burn all his energy sprinting for the first 2 runs and then gets too tired at the end.

Is there a good (free) app that does the couch25k timings and also tracks your run?
