I'm a fat lazy slob! I'm constantly tired, grumpy, frumpy and frazzled! I'm mid forties, my hair has emigrated from my head to my multiple chins, and its time I actually started to turn my dumpy life around. Anyone want to join me? From the 1st January I'm going to start c25k using the NHS app. From 4th January I'll be giving up sugar. My aim is to get fit rather than slim, because I'm such an elephant that trying to set a weight goal will just demotivate me😂.
Everyone welcome.

@Kangaroo1 have you been out yet? Grin

I’ve just done w2 r3 and sitting down with twitchy leg muscles again- I don’t remember these from last time I did couch to. 5k- normal though do we think?

PaddingtonB · 06/01/2021 08:53

W1 R3 completed today Smile

Kangaroo1 · 06/01/2021 11:26

@AppleKatie I'm on my way out now!

AppleKatie · 06/01/2021 12:10

Well done! Hope you are back on the sofa with a glass of water now!

steph2412 · 06/01/2021 13:59

Well I ventured out this morning, I started on week 2 run 1 as I've done it a few times in the past. I'm exhausted! Worth it though felt good for getting out x

Hello, I'm due my second run today but currently shivering on a bench in the park and dreading the ice. I could run on the grass I guess?

Someone tell me why it's worth it please.

You're all doing so well and I feel like a wuss.

I'm due to due my second run today too but won't be until DP is home from work so it's going to be soooo cold out but I'm determined to stick with it
Kangaroo1 · 06/01/2021 15:44

It's so so worth it. You can do it. I saved up a podcast I love to distract me from the cold and once you do the first bit of running you are warm. I found the second run a bit harder mentally. My DH says that run 4 is when you start enjoying it (W2R1 I guess). My technique was shocking though, slappy flappy feet, but I did it and that's what matters 🙂

AppleKatie · 06/01/2021 16:28

If you’ve got as far as the park bench the hardest part is done- you can do this and I hope by now you have!

theotherfossilsister · 06/01/2021 17:09

Thank you. I did it. Badly and slowly but I did it.

Run 3 on Friday.

theotherfossilsister · 06/01/2021 18:50

Also my thighs wobbled disgustingly when I got changed on coming home, so def need to complete this.

tea69 · 06/01/2021 21:48

W1R2 done!

fudgecat · 06/01/2021 21:50

W1r2 done, bit chilly out there tonight!

AppleKatie · 06/01/2021 22:23

Lots of runners today! Well done everyone 😊

shouldhavecalleditoatabix · 07/01/2021 01:05

Joining you lovely ladies. Also fat, unfit and nearly 40. Did W1 R2 today. I've tried running in some form or other every year for 7 years. I have never enjoyed it and I never get past spluttering and stitches and pains in the calves. This time for the first time I ran with a friend. It was maybe a little easier? I just didn't have time to give myself the repeated message of 'I hate this, I hate this'. I know I'm my own worst enemy so maybe this will be the change for me.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 07/01/2021 08:42

Argh I didn’t manage it yesterday. Going to go out at the weekend when DH is home and he can look after the kids. I’ll be slower working through the weeks but it’s better than nothing.

Gertie1983 · 07/01/2021 09:16

W2R1 done, -3 degrees here this morning and beautiful. It was really hard though, my chest was hurting quite a bit but I can confirm the shock absorber bra is great! Off to get my covid vaccine now eeek!

I'm very, very fat so Starting c25k on 1st. Anyone want to join me?
theotherfossilsister · 07/01/2021 09:46

@Gertie that's bloody beautiful.

Just tried to walk to my hospital appointment on Monday off from running, slipped on ice, ended up getting taxi but will try to walk home.

Run three tomorrow. Might go on grass though. Or walk down to the beach.

HenslowesDiary · 07/01/2021 14:24

W2R2 for me today and I LOVED it!

Feel all glowy & alive. Thanks Michael Wink.

Be careful on the icy paths everyone. Fossilsister hope you are ok. I have tried running on grass but it's so muddy and uneven it must throw my balance off and I get a pain in my groin and hips. Am sticking to the roads for now and switch to the fields when it gets drier. The beach sounds a wonderful option though.

wheresmyhairytoe · 07/01/2021 19:49

Was meant to go out this evening but paths are so icy. Will hopefully get out tomorrow.

FoolsAssassin · 07/01/2021 22:21

Ouch fossilsister, hope you are ok.

Skipped last run of week 1 and started week2. I’m.not goumg to skip any of the rest.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 08/01/2021 07:05

I'm heading g to the end of week 2 .. I'm quite enjoying although my legs hurt!!

PaddingtonB · 08/01/2021 09:25

Managed W2 R1 today despite DS waking at 4.40am and so feeling absolutely shattered.

theotherfossilsister · 08/01/2021 10:46

Just got a notification that the book I ordered through click and collect is now available at my local indy bookstore. Wondering if I can couch to five k on the way there or if that's cheating.

I got yaxtrax now for this ice but not sure I put them on right, might just go to the beach.

theotherfossilsister · 08/01/2021 10:47

Well done @Paddingtonb
