I'm a fat lazy slob! I'm constantly tired, grumpy, frumpy and frazzled! I'm mid forties, my hair has emigrated from my head to my multiple chins, and its time I actually started to turn my dumpy life around. Anyone want to join me? From the 1st January I'm going to start c25k using the NHS app. From 4th January I'll be giving up sugar. My aim is to get fit rather than slim, because I'm such an elephant that trying to set a weight goal will just demotivate me😂.
Everyone welcome.

W2R2 done today. Going to have more than 1 rest day between runs because my legs are definitely feeling it. This is the furthest I've ever got with c25k though so I'm pleased (I tend to give up after week 1!)

PaddingtonB · 13/01/2021 16:53

That’s great encouragement to keep going @GoodbyePorpoiseSpit Thank you for checking in to share your story

wheresmyhairytoe · 13/01/2021 17:28

W2R3 done. My knees hurt! I want to carry on though, it's really helping my mental health.

Cupidity · 13/01/2021 18:28

@Kangaroo1 I did w2r2 today as well. It was a cold, wet, rainy day but I'm happy I dragged DS out and we did it. Fortunately DH was home today so once we'd finished our run we phoned him and he picked us up in the car.

theotherfossilsister · 13/01/2021 19:04

W2R2 done, but really badly. I ran on the local cycle path and itv as so crowded despite the weather that I got really anxious. Lots of dogs either on very long leads or off lead and deciding to jump all around my feet in a friendly but not conducive to running way.

Also two cyclists almost mowed me down, or it felt like that, and some poor couple had a huge screaming row.

I still did it, but very anxiously and slowly so not sure if it counts? Will go to beach again next time or the park

FourTurnings · 13/01/2021 20:27

Great encouragement goodbyeporpoisespit thank you!!
By the way I love Muriel’s Wedding too 😀

HayleyBay · 13/01/2021 20:42

W3r1 done very very slowly! Surprised that I haven't given up yet. I have tooth ache too. Meh.

FoolsAssassin · 13/01/2021 20:50

Very slowly is perfect and absolutely counts !

theotherfossilsister · 14/01/2021 11:23

Thank you @foolsassassin

Poster with toothache, that's horrible but don't give up. I am telling myself the programme will take me through lockdown to keep going - by week ten of c25k things will be better with the world and the weather.

Gertie1983 · 14/01/2021 17:15

Slowly is the idea! Last time I did it I went too fast and buggered my knees. Struggling to find time this week, DH finished work at 4:30 so I went out for 15 minutes, only 1.5k and not a proper one but I ran (slowly) the whole time so I feel like that’s better than nothing! Will get back in track with week 3 tomorrow 👍

PaddingtonB · 15/01/2021 14:02

Well done for keeping going everyone. No runs for me yesterday and today while my household awaits Covid test results. Hoping to be able to get out soon.

theotherfossilsister · 15/01/2021 14:27

Oh No @PaddingtonB - I hope no one is too ill and it comes back negative.

Can you do some videos?

I'm just about to go to the beach for w2r3.

AppleKatie · 15/01/2021 16:10

Another too long gap because of illness but so pleased I just managed w3 r2!

So much of it is mind over matter- in hindsight I was prob well enough to run yesterday but I just well didn’t! I’m going to try for tomorrow or Sunday to complete w3- I’m confident I can do it now I think 🤔

FoolsAssassin · 15/01/2021 16:14

PadingtonB, sorry to hear that and fingers crossed for negative results.

AppleKatie if you have done run 2 of week 3 then you already know you can do run 3!

Have done W4R1.

Gliblet · 15/01/2021 17:25

@PaddingtonB oh no, will keep fingers crossed that you're in the clear, or at least all recovered soon.

W1R3 repeated today and I didn't stop, swear or feel like my legs were going to drop off, so I'm on to W2 next week.

HenslowesDiary · 15/01/2021 21:21

W3R2 today. I wasn't really feeling it today but did manage to complete it.

fudgecat · 16/01/2021 19:22

Was supposed to be on w3r1 today but decided to redo a W2 run instead, tried to push myself a bit harder tho and ran for a few extra seconds in each section. Will give W3r1 a go Monday but it seems like a big difference in time running

Kangaroo1 · 16/01/2021 19:31

W2R3 completed today pretty sure I've hurty shin, but I'm going to rest it and hope it heals before next week

PaddingtonB · 16/01/2021 20:32

Thanks @theotherfossilsister @FoolsAssassin @Gliblet
DS and I are positive so that’s my C25K journey on pause. We only have light symptoms thankfully. Good luck everyone! I’ll be cheering you on and will be back to join in in a couple of weeks.

AppleKatie · 17/01/2021 10:49

@PaddingtonB hope you and DS feel better soon.

W3R3 complete. Full disclosure I’ve realised I’m doing a slightly different App to most of you (not NHS) I’ve looked at both and they seem pretty similar but there are differences between days.

W4R1 feels like a big jump at the moment (2x3min with 2x4min in the middle) but I will give it my best shot on Tuesday...

wheresmyhairytoe · 17/01/2021 20:44

W3R1 done, surprised myself with how good I felt doing it.

theotherfossilsister · 18/01/2021 11:08

@PaddingtonB how are you feeling today? Can you do some gentle yoga or do you just need sleep and soup?

@wheresmyhairytoe that's amazing. Just tackling that today and worried. I have mentally psyched myself to have to do week three twice though. I'm starting IVF soon and telling myself this will help.

Blobby10 · 18/01/2021 12:57

W2 Run 1 completed this morning - might change my route as the first two runs are both uphill! My option is a steepish hill first then gradual downhill and flat or flat then long uphill before a steepish down !

Do you all plot a 3 mile route and just do that with extra walking in the early days or just head out until the half way bell before turning around?

FoolsAssassin · 18/01/2021 13:15

Paddington so sorry to hear that, fingers crossed for a quick recovery. Take it really easy 🌷
W4R3 done but treacle legs.
Blobby10 I am on treadmill but used to turn round about mid way.
AppleKatie, i’m Not on the NHS either, good luck tomorrow.
