Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

So how long do you think it takes until you stop holding the water? I also think this happens to me too!

I've been a LMOD subscriber for 4 years now and I love it. I also have a gym membership and did both so it easy to transition into more of this when gyms shut.

I personally do more GRIT and Bodyattack then anything. I love the Grit Athletic stuff with jumping over the step etc lol the heart rate goes straight up!

I originally got it for Pump and got my bar years ago but it's not my fave thing although I still use it and also use the bar in GRIT strength. Love combat too!

sociallydistained · 16/06/2020 14:17

@upsidedownrightnow I actually have an accurate heart rate monitor and a Fitbit and I use both during workouts and find Fitbit is on the whole quite accurate for most of the workouts. It's a bit under on Pump, mostly even on the cardio like Combat and Attack and it's usually a bit under cals on GRIT as the HR sensor takes a little longer to catch up with the constant ups and downs of HIIT

I actually wish I knew! I sometimes take a magnesium supplement if eating lots of watermelon, asparagus and bananas, etc, doesn't shift the water. So annoying. I think my body panics if there's any overheating going on and thinks it's going to be permanently deprived of fluid and persuading it that I won't let that happen takes some time. That's my unscientific take on it, anyway.
MozzchopsThirty · 16/06/2020 17:32

I've done 45 min combat 77 tonight and loved it
Love 79 and 66 too

Can anyone tell me if I can do BODYPUMP without a bar? I have hand weights

Boopear · 16/06/2020 18:00

Ooh I did the 45 min Combat #77 today as well. It was fab!

And I do pump with hand weights, but 4/5 kg. I also do press on the floor. I think you'd probably need a decentish weight but guess every little helps!

MozzchopsThirty · 16/06/2020 18:30

@Boopear fab thanks Smile pump for me tomorrow then

flatoutpanic · 16/06/2020 20:08

I did Bodycombat 78 today. It’s obviously been a BC day! I can’t stop eating now though...

Re water retention, I’m finding the same at the moment and I’m sure it’s because I’m not drinking enough. When I was low-carbing I had to drink 3l a day, and should probably be on at least 2.5l normally. I’m managing 3 coffees and a pint of water at the moment 😫 I think I read that you multiply your weight in kilos by 0.033 which gives you the amount in litres that you should be drinking.

Upsidedownrightnow · 16/06/2020 23:32

@sociallydistained - thats good to hear the fitbit is accurate :) I have the fitbit versa which one do you have?

@Abraid2 - does taking magenisum help then? i have got some here so I will give it a try :) I didn't know magnesium helps with water retention. Is it because when you start working out your muscles are retaining water and the magnesium helps to shift it?

my legs are really aching today, I have done alot of walking over the last few days and cb today and splits training last night.

Not sure what I should do tomorrow if my legs are still aching any ideas?

sociallydistained · 17/06/2020 18:14

Yes I have the Versa 2. It seems a bit more accurate that my Blaze which I had beforehand.

SunflowerSummer · 21/06/2020 19:45

Hi all, just checking in 🌻 so I can mark my place and then go through the posts properly.

I’ve just signed up to the 14 day free trial as I’m ballooning in lockdown! The different workout options look good and I’m intrigued by the CX one for your core so I’ve also ordered one of those stretchy cords with handles (technical term!) from Argos which’ll be delivered tomorrow.

I know exercise is only half the battle so I didn’t put any chocolate or snacks in my online shopping order this weekend and I’ve also joined Nutracheck to track/log my meals.

Starting tomorrow with the very best of intentions! Am not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow morning at all! Shock

jerometheturnipking · 22/06/2020 11:15

Good luck with day 1 Sunflower

I went back to Combat 82 again this morning. I really should mix it up a bit and try a different release but 82 seems to hit a perfect balance for me with the moves used in the tracks. I'm not keen on loads of lunges, they turn me into quad-zilla.

Lottapianos · 22/06/2020 11:21

'Can anyone tell me if I can do BODYPUMP without a bar? I have hand weights'

Yep, I've started doing Body Pump during lockdown on YouTube with 5kg dumbbells and 2kg dumbbells. Instructor says you can do it with dumbbells, plates, kettlebells or just bodyweight.

MozzchopsThirty · 22/06/2020 18:37

I've done combat 82 tonight on pp recommendation
Enjoyed it and managed 400 calories

I've bought some sort of power tube from Argos today so I can do some CX works as it's impossible to do with a regular resistance band

Upsidedownrightnow · 22/06/2020 22:08

@SunflowerSummer - welcome to the group, I am also new to Les Mills on demand and really enjoying it so far Smile. Maybe take measurements too as that could be useful.

@jerometheturnipking - quad-zilla i love this Grin as I think i am also abit of a qud-zilla - they grow quickly...

@MozzchopsThirty - i havn't tried cx workouts yet - are they just like strength workouts without the weights?

I did bodybalance runners stretch yesterday which i really enjoyed and needed as my hip flexors are aching alot at the moment I think a combination of alot of exercise and alot of sitting at the moment.

I really couldn't be arsed last night. I got home from work and sulked on my bed for 20 minutes. I've been doing Bodyattack on Monday for the last few weeks so that's what was in my head to do...

I consoled myself by saying I'd do Grit as that's only half and hour... it's intense though. So I did Grit and did really well imo! Got so into it that I then did Bodyattack express (all the harder tracks!) so did an hour in total! Also burned 700 calories (I wear a myzone HRM ... my Fitbit tracker about 620).

So the lesson is... just make yourself start even if it's something small and the great thing about LMOD is you can Switch it you do a bit of this and then a bit of that if you don't fancy the prospect of a full class!

NathanNathan · 23/06/2020 09:47

Love it @sociallydistained! Forgive me for laughing at sulking on the bed for 20 mins but this is so me too! Smile

And I totally agree. Once I just start, I ALWAYS enjoy it, and want to do more, and feel good.

Although I did have a go at the basics of Sh'bam today, I am certainly still "un-co" as they put it!

MozzchopsThirty · 23/06/2020 15:50

It's too hot to exercise 😩😩😩

MozzchopsThirty · 23/06/2020 17:55

I managed CX works 35

I'm really not sure about CXworks

NathanNathan · 23/06/2020 19:30

Yes @MozzchopsThirty well done!

Why don't you like about it? Not done it yet.

Upsidedownrightnow · 24/06/2020 11:05

@sociallydistained - Grin well done for getting on with it.

I also had to push myself this morning but really enjoyed my 45mins of bodypump @jerometheturnipking it was 106 which had alot of lunges so might not help the quadzilla issue Grin but it was good.

@MozzchopsThirty - i'm doing my exercise in the morning as if not i doubt it would get done in this heat.

@NathanNathan - i havn't tried shabam yet is it as much of a workout as bodycombat?

OP posts:
NathanNathan · 24/06/2020 11:09

I think Sh'bam is more like Zumba @Upsidedownrightnow? But I've not done Zumba...

I did the very very intro video. And found it hard as I'm not naturally a dancer. I really enjoy Combat and Pump so decided to stick to what I like!

Upsidedownrightnow · 24/06/2020 11:09

Also for anyone thays using dumbells instead of a bar for body pump what weight are your dumbells?

I only have 3kg at thr moment but thinking I need heavier and also maybe I need a step for the chest sections.

I'm not sure if i should invest in a bar just yet Confused

OP posts:
Upsidedownrightnow · 24/06/2020 11:10

Oh i really like zumba I migjt give it a try instead of combat sometime Smile

OP posts:
nbee84 · 24/06/2020 11:18

3kg absolutely fine for triceps, biceps, shoulders. Light for the rest but you'll definitely still get the benefit using them - in fact thinking about it I sometimes go bodyweight only for lunges if it's a tough one. No need for a bench for the chest track, just lie on the floor.
