Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

You guys are making me want to try Barre now. It sounds like it's something for me. I carry my weight on my lower body and also have hurt me back in my 20s. I like a core and lower body workout.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 11/06/2020 09:14

@NotGenerationAlpha - me too! Usually do balance but I'm thinking I might give it a try!

Abraid2 · 11/06/2020 10:45

I’ve done Grit strength! All I will say is that it was short and I didn’t have time to check how long it was taking because I was trying to keep up! Good luck’

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 11/06/2020 15:42

I've done RPM today and then a BodyBalance specifically for cyclists - the stretches in that were amazing. 😍

Boopear · 11/06/2020 16:10

Does anyone use a Polar Ignite to monitor their Les Mills sessions? I'm in the market for a new smartwatch/fitness tracker and Les Mills seem to be really promoting the Polar Ignite. It seems to fit the bill for me in general, but I wondered how good it was at specifically monitoring LM sessions..?

jerometheturnipking · 11/06/2020 19:06

I did Grit Strength followed by a 15min CXworks ab blaster. I think I'll be feeling it in my core tomorrow!

Boopear I find they track well in my Apple Watch. The class names aren't there so I just do Strength for Pump, Martial Arts for Combat, Core for CX, HIIT for Grit, Yoga for Balance. The calorie burn estimates on the LM website are I think the very top end of what you'd burn. Grit is advertised as burning "Up to" 400 calories in a half hour session, my watch, which knows my height and weight, says I burned 235 calories based on those, my HR and movement.

I’m loving it also and I’ve signed up for 3 months during lockdown. I’m not a gym person, more of a runner but my sister got me into it and it’s brill. I’m an ex dancer so I’m loving barre and runners hybrid one....I enjoyed body attack (think it was 104) though it is very full on.....I want to do more combat too but need to try an intro one. I’ve also done the contemporary and house dance sessions with Gandalf which I loved, short but great.....sh’bam makes me feel a bit silly when I tried to do it but l will give it another go! Love being able to do classes anywhere anytime at home and will definitely keep it up

HunterHearstHelmsley · 11/06/2020 19:34

Struggling to motivate myself this week. I did Body Pump this evening, can't remember which release already (Blush). It was when they were randomly in the mountains. Did not help my motivation at all!

Bertucci · 11/06/2020 19:47

I have been thinking about joining LMOD and this thread has spurred me on.

I do Pump at the gym and hate it, but God - I am missing it now and all my lovely muscles have turned to flab.

nbee84 · 11/06/2020 21:45

I did combat 82 followed by cx 35 abs blast tonight. Was about to do bb deep stretch when my ds and grandson facetimed me - my grandson won! He's 8 weeks old now and I'm finally going to meet him on Saturday Grin

jerometheturnipking · 11/06/2020 21:58

nbee84 yay! How lovely!!

flouncymcflouncerson · 11/06/2020 23:14

Oh @nbee84 that’s lovely and so exciting!

I decided to try a new combat today and chose 82 as well. I liked it but did not like the jump and kick mid air, but something my body is capable of 😂😂

nbee84 · 11/06/2020 23:17

I've been doing combat for nearly 18 months and I still can't do split jumps properly 🙃 I have a go but my arms and legs don't seem to go the right way Grin

nbee84 · 11/06/2020 23:19

Jump and kick I'm ok with, just keep practicing or keep on the floor and do a power kick, just as effective.

flouncymcflouncerson · 12/06/2020 00:57

I definitely enjoyed it and found I wasn’t quite as sore and tired during it. In 77 I find there’s an awful lot of just punching for 30 seconds or so and I find that really tiring. I’ll see how I get on tomorrow!

Abraid2 · 13/06/2020 10:26

Trying to work out whether I can face grit strength or if it’ll exhaust me for the rest of the day!

jerometheturnipking · 13/06/2020 16:13

I wasn't exhausted for the rest of the day but I still have muscle soreness two days later! My bum in particular!

I did the BodyBalance where they're on the lake this morning after my run (chasing the DC on their bikes). DS (7) has never seen me do that one before and said "Wow, it's lucky they managed to find a bit of the lake with that floating mat for them to do their yoga" Grin I about fell over doing my falling angel.

Abraid2 · 13/06/2020 17:11

I would be falling into the lake head first.

Not too shatter d after grit strength but I went for lighter weights as I’m still wanting to make sure my red blood cells are where they should be.

WelcomeToTheMountaintop · 14/06/2020 21:04

I wasn’t really feeling it today, but thought I’d do one of the new release 20 minute Trip. I took it easy, but felt so good after that i attempted a ‘proper‘ pump for the first time, the 30 min 106 but without weights, just an unweighted bar for the barbell stuff, and bodyweight for the squats.

Bloody hell. I thought I was fairly fit. 🤣🤣🤣

flatoutpanic · 14/06/2020 21:47

Managed to complete week 1 of Burn Amplify with BA 104. I was dripping with sweat!

I did the Balance filmed on the lake yesterday - thought about jerome’s DS and the randomly floating mat 🤣 (would’ve fallen off for sure)

Floofsquidge · 15/06/2020 14:20

Glad to have found this thread. As lockdown started I was just beginning to get back in shape after having my son, doing pump and balance regularly, and some buggy fitness type classes. I'd set a goal to be back in shape by next January. Alas, lockdown has not been my fitness friend! I signed up for LMOD almost immediately as my gym offered a 2 month free trial. I can fit in the classes into my son's naps, but as I'm not going out anywhere I'm stagnating rather than losing weight. I think you can underestimate how much just milling around keeps the weight off. I don't diet as I don't eat that much, and exercise always worked for me.
Anyway... I think the thing I like the most about LMOD is that I can try a class I've always wondered about, but perhaps didn't want to commit to a class in case I couldn't hack it and collapsed into a wheezing mess, or my lack of co-ordination would send me flying. This was the case with Barre, I'm now looking forward to trying this in a real class setting.

Upsidedownrightnow · 15/06/2020 15:00

@jerometheturnipking I haven't seen the bit on the website that tells you how many calories you will burn, where can I find that?

I have a fitbit and I think it really over estimates it but I still like using it anyway.

I did bodybalance today but got interrupted so only did about 25mins but better than nothing.

Upsidedownrightnow · 16/06/2020 11:36

Thank you I will have a look 😀

So today I did 45mins of body combat it was number 78 and I think it's my favourite so far! I did the full 45mins (I usually give up after half an hour)

I have weighed myself today and after 1 full week of low carb + exercise + 5:2 I've lost 2lbs I know it's a fair amount but I have felt so restricked with low carb I hoped for more.

I'm going to allow myself more healthy carbs this week and hope I can still loose 2lbs

That's a good result and if you're exercising you may have a bit of water retention, perhaps? Sometimes that happens to me: I seem to hang onto the water when I'm restricting and doing more exercise.
