Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

That meant to say 114!

Cocacola12 · 04/02/2021 23:29

Just found this thread!
Have been doing LMOD since April, having not done any LM classes since 2012 🙈
Absolutely loving them. So much so that I invested in the LM pump barbell/step set.
Mostly so combat and pump, but interested in trying Tone - can anyone recommend a good one to start on?
Did pump 99 today - and upped my squat weight to 15kg so feeling proud (started off not managing to finish the track with 5kg)

Well done!

Do you think that the official LM kit is worth the money?

Yes, I can’t compare it to anything else but knowing how much it cost makes me use it, so for me it was worth it! It’s so easy and quick to switch the weights between tracks. And as the weights are flat, they store under my sofa easily Only negative is that the weight plates are £££ to buy (the set I bought came with 1,2.5 and 5kg) and I really want to get some of the bigger weights, ideally a single 10kg for some of the tracks which use a single heavy plate.
sociallydistained · 05/02/2021 07:04

I’d love the LM bar one day! Yeah the plates are so expensive.
I have had a basic barbell from Argos which came with 40kg total but a lot is in 1.25 plates so I bought 2 additional 5kg plates a while later and one day I hope to get a pair of 10kgs! I think my bar was about £40 and had it about 4 years now so it’s definitely been worth it! The LM bar is so appealing though (not the price!)

So got up at 5.20am today 2 hours before I leave for work and I did the new Grit Athletic! So proud. Finished an hour ago and my HR is still up! It has a lot of explosive plate work so I feel I’m proper pumped haha.

I noticed the new releases included “GRIT Power” and “Grit Agility” but no Plyo or the combos. So many GRIT categories, all awful lol. I want to try those other two next week though 😬

Pleased to have found some LMOD fans. I started in January having not done it for ages. I have to be careful because I hurt my knee with some too enthusiastic bodystep a couple of years ago. Much too scared to try anything Grit. I love step and combat the best.

If anyone with kids hasn’t found Born to Move on the app I would recommend it. I have a 4 and 6 year old who like doing the age 4-5 classes. It’s an excellent way to occupy them for 20 minutes and burn some energy.

Cocacola12 · 05/02/2021 12:45

I’m too scared to try Grit, I’m usually flat out at the end of Combat so I don’t think I’d have the fitness to keep up!

nbee84 · 05/02/2021 13:26

Les Mills training is a gentle introduction to Grit. I particularly like the strength one.

Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?
oneglassandpuzzled · 05/02/2021 14:28

I enjoyed Grit Agility this morning. Plus it's one of the slightly shorter ones. Psychologically if I can tell myself it'll all be over in less than half and hour I find it easier.

I don't worry if I can't keep up or need more breaks. The point is just to work at a more intense level and push yourself to your own personal limit.

EasterIssland · 06/02/2021 14:52

Done one of the tasters of ba today as I’ve not done it before in my life. Thought it’d be more tough but I’ve survived so I might add it to my routine :)

Knackerelli · 06/02/2021 22:37

I’ve been toying with the idea of signing up for ages but with the latest lockdown I thought I’d go for it. Oh my goodness. Absolutely loving it! Years ago I did combat at the gym and I’ve really missed it. Definitely indulged on that since I signed up! I’ve done an attack class which I’d previously done at the gym but my living room is far too small and as pp have said I feel stupid on the runnn g track.

Loving how because it’s at home I can give classes a go that I’d never attempt in front of others. Yes barre and sh’bam that’s you! I was absolutely useless! But I’ll give them another go 😂

I signed up for the fast burner challenge but managed to merge weeks 1 and 2. Also I like to run and I’m not coming home from a ten mile run to do a cardio class so I need to have another look at that. I’ve not lost weight ( entirely my fault I eat too much ) but j can tell that I’m starting to tone up.

Ooh, gosh, sorry that was a longer post than I’d intended! Just feeling the les mills love 😂

MsMartini · 07/02/2021 10:38

@Knackerelli, love the les mills love. So so good right now to have something you can do at home, any time, that is good for you and makes you feel good, I think.

I run too, and strength train (outdoors at the moment) - I've never done any of the challenges as my LM has to fit around that. So I do a lot of combat and core - enough to be challenging and a good workout but can be done with tired legs or back, and am fine for the next day. I find it much harder to motivate myself for attack or grit but maybe that doesn't matter.

rosettesforjill · 07/02/2021 11:44

Does anyone use any weights comparable to the Les Mills ones but less outrageously expensive?

Knackerelli · 07/02/2021 12:08

Ah, thanks msmartini I agree, it’s so important to have things that make you feel good. And physical health is so intricately linked to mental health.

I think longer term I’ll be doing mainly running with core workouts and then combat or attack on days I can’t leave the house. Mix it up with sh’bam for a laugh 😆

I bought a set on eBay that aren’t les mills. Jordan Bodypump studio set.
oneglassandpuzzled · 07/02/2021 15:55

And great name, btw, *rosettesforjill". I still have all my Jill books and she's still one of my great inspirations in life.

HermioneWeasley · 07/02/2021 20:21

Grit yesterday and body pump this morning 💪

Thanks! I used to love the series so much when I was younger Smile

Joining this thread as I’ve been enjoying LMOD since last lockdown and it’s getting me through this one!

Not sure whether to get the barbell set - currently only really doing Combat so would be good to do Body pump.

Anyone into the cycling? Don’t currently have a spin bike but could get one if any in stock at Argos!

Not sure what else to do ...

Has anyone lost weight doing LMOD? I want to lose 20 pounds by the summer mainly by exercising a lot.

butwhatcanwedo · 08/02/2021 06:59

Also - can’t believe anyone apart from me remembers the Jill series - I was obsessed - that and the Black Stallion books

utterfailureasamum · 08/02/2021 07:39

There is a very active LMOD facebook group for anyone who hasn't checked it out.

LMOD has saved me over the last year. And i will continue to use it to help me fit in workouts in my busy life.

nbee84 · 08/02/2021 10:21

I bought a spin bike a couple of years ago - a 2nd hand technogym gym quality one for a bargain price on ebay. I used it occasionally but it was a godsend last September as I injured my knee (running initially but then something snapped doing skater move in attack) I still can't do anything high impact on my knee so no step, jumping, running and squats and lunges can be troublesome. Spin allows me to get my cardio in. I tend to do combat and pump upper body workouts and cxworx. I love The Trip and throw the occasional Sprint or rpm in if I fancy a change.
As for weight loss - sadly no, I've put on weight through lockdown Blush but that's down to my sweet tooth and being in the house more. Weight loss is mostly diet but exercising alongside a healthy diet is great.

Shymoon · 08/02/2021 10:55

Hi everyone! I signed up to LMOD and have tried Barre and Balance. Barre seems like there are very few workouts but I really like it. Do you know if it is very recent or have they discontinued producing videos?

Last spring at start of lockdown I started LMOD with the aim of losing weight, over the course of about 4 months I lost a stone but I did work out every single day during that period (Mostly combat, but did pump once or twice a week) I didn’t change hugely what I ate. I’m quite overweight so not a huge amount. Start of Jan this year I again started LMOD (had fell into bad habit and not worked out for a while) and have been doing pump 3 or 4 times a week and combat on remaining days, and also watching what I eat (using MFP) and I have lost over a stone in 6 weeks. exercise helps but diet is most important.
HermioneWeasley · 08/02/2021 21:38

I only realised last night that body pump united is 115. I’ve been waiting for them to add it as I enjoyed doing it at the gym. Did it this morning. The back track is HARD
