Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

@Hazelflies

Thanks everyone Smile ... *@rosettesforjill* I did look at the Amazon basics step but noted that the length needed to be 100cm-ish to do lie down on for pump. I’ll definitely be staying away from bodystep til my ankles are better Grin

@GingerAndTheBiscuits can you do the chest presses etc in pump lying on the floor I wonder?

Thanks @nbee84 ... i presume dumbbells will be ok to use as a substitute for the weight plate too?

The Amazon step I got is 42 inches - 107 ish cm. this one Smile www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-Aerobic-Step/dp/B07ZYMLKX5

I am only a shorty but it was fine for me!

Hazelflies · 30/01/2021 17:44

@rosettesforjill ooh thank you so much I missed that one!!

Hazelflies · 30/01/2021 17:46

@nbee84 thank you so much !! I’m going to do a combat tomorrow morning - Chuffed x

EasterIssland · 30/01/2021 20:50

Hi!
I entered 2021 with a few extra stone that I’d like to swift so I’m after some classes. I like Zumba style ones but also aerobics. I’ve checked and seems like there is shabam and body balance which are kind of my style

How does les mills work? How much is it ? I can’t the price ! And is there any promotion for new joiners ? Refer a friend or so?

Many thanks!

BodyAttack is doable low impact if that works for people with injuries. It's usually fairly obvious how to adapt if you've done similar before but they give the options a few reps in.

I got a second hand Reebok step from eBay for about £45, there were a few there when I bought it.

Errr I meant Pump not Combat Grin

Just done Pump #110 and I really enjoyed it. I did have to stop midway through the lunges though because my legs were pure jelly by then but managed the rest. No problem for the ankles at all and I was sweating so I’m chuffed with that.

Hazelflies · 31/01/2021 11:27

@TabbyStar thanks! I will give body attack a go next week I think.

nbee84 · 31/01/2021 11:32

Well done @Hazelflies. Glad you enjoyed it. If you're legs aren't jelly by the time you get to the lunge track than you haven't worked hard enough Grin so sounds like you worked hard.
I've just done an rpm endurance ride and am contemplating a bit of pump just to finish me off!

Minikievs · 31/01/2021 11:43

Ooooh, I've only just found this thread! Can I join?!

I did body pump twice a week when gym was open and combat once a week and absolutely loved them.

I finally managed to get my hands on some weights a few weeks ago and have managed to do a couple of online pump classes. It's so disheartening how quickly my abilities have disappeared after trying so hard at the gym last year with classes Sad

Minikievs · 31/01/2021 11:44

I bought a step from Mirafit-I'm 5ft 8 and it's a good length for me to lie on for chest exercises, the Amazon ones were too short when I looked

Hazelflies · 01/02/2021 07:28

Hello @Minikievs, you sound like you were pretty fit to start off with I’m sure you will be back in no time..I’ve only been working out for a few weeks after several years of being a slug Grin..for me the main struggle is finding a time slot to do the workout in, my toddler is very attached to me and cannot seem to tolerate me standing up working out, inaccessible to her to climb all over 😂 I’m having to wait til my DH is home from work in the evenings in the weekdays which is annoying because I’d love to start my days with a workout.

@nbee84 my legs and bum are definitely feeling it this morning - not surprising seeing as I could barely walk up the stairs straight after the pump yesterday !

Covidcorvid · 01/02/2021 07:32

@GingerAndTheBiscuits

If you’re getting a step and want to do pump, make sure it’s long enough to support you from your head to the base of your spine. A lot of the ones I was looking at on Amazon would have been too short and either my head or my bum would have dangling off the end. You need a good level of support for the chest track for example.
Yep. My step is too short and I have to use a wicker basket for my head! Works ok though. 😁
Hazelflies · 01/02/2021 08:14

@Covidcorvid Grin live a bit of improvisation!

Hazelflies · 01/02/2021 08:14

*love

sociallydistained · 02/02/2021 08:58

I’ve just bit the bullet and ordered a spin bike 😬
Now I can really do all of LM woooo really like their bike stuff, especially the Trip!

EasterIssland · 02/02/2021 10:54

I just got some sweattybetty and some lululemn leggings, can anyone recommend any other legging brand that tends to be good?

And some steps that don't cost a fortune but dont break?
thanks!

oneglassandpuzzled · 02/02/2021 11:11

Spin bikes and smart leggings! Ooh! Lucky things 🙂

I'm a fan of Sweaty Betty myself. My sister raves about the Fabletics leggings that she got from either Vinted or Depop. We're both scared of the Fabletics website, so I've never tried them, but she says they're amazingly supportive (she's also 22 weeks pregnant so is starting to need the belly support).
jerometheturnipking · 02/02/2021 16:19

I did Body Attack 108 yesterday and then 107 this morning - both the 45 minute ones. I need to change it up tomorrow, maybe back to Combat because my arse is killing me now Grin

HermioneWeasley · 02/02/2021 20:29

Did a Brit athletic for the 2nd time this morning - ooof

HermioneWeasley · 02/02/2021 20:30

Grit, not Brit FFS

oneglassandpuzzled · 02/02/2021 21:38

Grit athletic is something I have only done a few times. Seriously grueling.

kittykarate · 03/02/2021 10:01

BA#103 for me - it felt very lunge heavy, and almost 'grit-ish' but maybe that's because it wasn't Lisa presenting. I luckily got a rest in the middle of track 6 when I had to reboot the router.

oneglassandpuzzled · 03/02/2021 10:03

Kitty sometimes if I'm lucky the dog wants to go out halfway through. I feel the same way: lots of lunges and almost grit-like.

sociallydistained · 04/02/2021 20:25

I did Bodypump 115 45mins this morning - I did the 55min last week - dare I say this was tougher, that lunge and shoulder track was grueling! I enjoyed it though.

I see new GRIT’s are up. I am planning on doing a Plyo/cardio combo or athletic tomorrow morning. I haven’t seen which ones are up. I really “enjoy” athletic and Plyo as I love jumping over the bench 😂 hate almost everything else lol.
