Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

Try keeping your eyes on the ceiling rather than looking between your knees like they sometimes tell you on the videos - it will stop you straining your neck forward.

JamMakingWannaBe · 26/01/2021 20:26

My weight plates for Pump arrived today!! So excited to do a 'proper' class. I'm doing #112 as that's the one we were on in my gym before Lockdown and I like the music.

JamMakingWannaBe · 26/01/2021 22:58

Reporting back in tonight to say I found "Stretch" which I really enjoyed. Targeted 15 mins on my hip flexors is just what I need after a day at my desk. Preferred it to some of the short Balance options.

donutscoff · 26/01/2021 23:48

@JamMakingWannaBe can I ask where your plates are from?

kittykarate · 27/01/2021 11:02

BA 100 for me today - really fun workout, let down by the cool down as the cameras were concentrating on the parade of Les Mills nations rather than the cooldown moves.

JamMakingWannaBe · 27/01/2021 13:59

@donutscoff

*@JamMakingWannaBe* can I ask where your plates are from?
I got them from fitness-superstore.co.uk I got pairs of 1.25kg, 2.5kg and 5kg studio plates but it looks like they are out-of-stock again.

When I was looking, some websites were taking pre-orders for 20kg barbell sets for delivery in March.
Try:
networldsports.co.uk
balanceleisure.com
fitkituk.com

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 27/01/2021 20:26

I got mine from Physical Company

donutscoff · 27/01/2021 20:57

Thank you jam

jerometheturnipking · 28/01/2021 21:10

I got a Jordan 20kg bar set for £140 inc delivery from fitkituk

MsMartini · 28/01/2021 22:33

I got studio barbells from Mirafit. They were OOS but I signed up for the notify me email and it arrived within 30 mins! So worth doing that

Hi all! I discovered LMOD in October and absolutely love it!!! I probably do 4-5 sessions a week and mainly do body pump, body combat and the occasional body balance. At first I really struggled and had to pause it a lot but now I'm finding my fitness is improving. I've really struggled like many others with my mental health during COVID especially as I work for the NHS but LMOD has helped massively! We're also moving house (or trying to) so a good combat session gets rid of all my nervous energy.

sociallydistained · 29/01/2021 14:06

I got up this morning at 5.20 to do Grit! I am so impressed with myself 😂 It was the Grit Cardio/Plyo release. I do love the jumping (although not jump lunges and endless burpees!) Grit is brutal but over in half an hour (that’s how I look at it...15 mins “I’m halfway”) and very effective. I remember doing it a lot when I was at my fittest back in 2017! Desperate to get back to that!

kittykarate · 29/01/2021 14:17

I did Grit Cardio yesterday, still feeling it today! I managed to do 30 burpees in both the blocks though. The rest, meh, couldn't keep up.

Time during Grit goes sooooo slowly though, 55 minutes of BC/BA doesn't feel any longer.

sociallydistained · 29/01/2021 14:50

You’ve got a point there! I enjoy Combat and Attack a lot more but time is actually a factor with work so I’m doing a mix. Found strength on Monday worse than cardio/Plyo today. I definitely think just cardio is the toughest though!

30 burpees is great! I always miss a few but I’m certainly better at them these days.

MooChops89 · 29/01/2021 15:14

I joined this thread a few months ago and never came back, but I've been using LMOD 5x a week! Mostly Combat & Pump, tried a Step class and got frustrated as I couldn't keep up and I've done a Stretch one and a Balance one although I don't think Balance is my thing - much prefer a calorie burner! I do 55 mins when I get up, baby in his jumperoo and set toddler up with some drawing or games at the kitchen table. I'm not the fittest person in the world, I'm very overweight, but I'm definitely noticing improvement all the time and go for the "easy" options much less than I used to! I'd love to try the Trip but can't justify the cost of a bike, nor do I have anywhere to store one!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 29/01/2021 15:39

Think I threw myself at LMOD a bit enthusiastically over past few weeks and all the jumping in combat and step has given me an injury. Hoping BP and balance will still be possible due to lower impact until it’s better!

Hazelflies · 30/01/2021 08:48

Hello, can I join? I’m a Davina fan but have given myself posterior shin splints by stupidly doing aerobics barefooted on my laminate floor several times in one week, after many years with very little exercise. Came across this thread and signed myself up for the LMOD free trial so I can do body balance or maybe manage the barre until I’m fully healed. Combat looks like it would still be a bit too jumpy for my ankles at the moment.

I only have 2.5kg dumbbells not sure if that would be any good for the pump? Don’t have a stepper either but eyeing up a Reebok one for my birthday next month 👀

rosettesforjill · 30/01/2021 10:51

@Hazelflies I got an Amazon basics step which does the job!

I've only done Bodystep once but there is a fair bit of jumping, just to warn you!

You should be safe with the core workouts as well Smile

nbee84 · 30/01/2021 11:03

@Hazelflies - pump can be done with dumbbells - have a go, the 2.5kg will be perfect for the biceps and shoulder tracks of some of them. It's better with a bar but you'll still work your muscles. I currently have a knee injury so do the squat and lunge track with no weights and still feel it.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 30/01/2021 12:45

If you’re getting a step and want to do pump, make sure it’s long enough to support you from your head to the base of your spine. A lot of the ones I was looking at on Amazon would have been too short and either my head or my bum would have dangling off the end. You need a good level of support for the chest track for example.

Hazelflies · 30/01/2021 15:53

Thanks everyone Smile ... @rosettesforjill I did look at the Amazon basics step but noted that the length needed to be 100cm-ish to do lie down on for pump. I’ll definitely be staying away from bodystep til my ankles are better Grin

@GingerAndTheBiscuits can you do the chest presses etc in pump lying on the floor I wonder?

Thanks @nbee84 ... i presume dumbbells will be ok to use as a substitute for the weight plate too?

nbee84 · 30/01/2021 15:58

Yes, definitely. I did 114 upper body this morning and they had someone without a barbell throughout to show how it's done and Glen was laid on the floor for the chest track to show that it could be done without the step.

nbee84 · 30/01/2021 16:03

Also I had the Reebok step (dh bought me the LM one for Christmas 🙂) and I found it fine to lie on and do the bodystep class - I'm 5'4".

nbee84 · 30/01/2021 16:07

Back again Grin I've just had a look at the Amazon basics step and they are exactly the same as ones that we had at a gym that I was a member of a few years ago. They were absolutely fine size wise.

FanSpamTastic · 30/01/2021 16:12

I did Sh'bam this morning. I was feeling a bit "down in the dumps" and couldn't summon up any enthusiasm for anything else.

Conclusion = I have no rhythm! I was really struggling with some of the combos! But it took my mind off being down!
