Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

Just found this thread! I'm enjoying LMOD too, my faves are Body Balance and Body Step, although I only do the 30min step sessions as the longer ones seem to wreak havoc on my knees. I do the odd Body Pump but I find the bar across my shoulders too painful and the squats are brutal on my knees. I might try to do some more of the purely upper body ones.

Grit is definitely too hard for me and Sh'Bam just made me feel incredibly uncoordinated and OLD.

What is Attack like, is there a lower impact version? I might have a look...and I tried one Combat but it felt a bit repetitive, I might try some of the releases recommended on here.

TabbyStar · 12/12/2020 15:56

I really like Attack, I started doing it low impact. It's much easier to coordinate than Sh'bam, which just makes me grumpy, but I'm not sure middle aged woman is the target demographic.... They give you low impact options in Attack, usually a few reps in, but they're pretty easy to work out.

My shoulders were never flexible enough for the bar in Pump, so doing it at home I just use barbells. Lunges are problematic for me, they hurt/damage my toes.

kittykarate · 15/12/2020 10:36

Did Body Pump 110 today - it's the one filmed on the platform in front of a lake/mountain. Absolutely beautiful to look at. I didn't enjoy it though, something is sore and stiff in my left hip so had to skip the lunge track.

PurpleDaisies · 15/12/2020 12:58

I was all motivated and dressed up ready to go...

Oh no! There's nothing worse than being sabotaged at the last second.

Grit Cardio #26 for me today. Had to to stepping lunges not jumping ones. The only good thing about Grit is that it is only 30 minutes long. There was a burpee challenge in this one - try and do 50 in 2.5 minutes. Urrrrrrgh. (I didn't do 50!)

PurpleDaisies · 16/12/2020 09:07

I ended up squeezing one in just before tea time. I’m working my way through the 30 minute Barre classes with all the grace of an elephant. I feel I’m making progress though!

kittykarate · 16/12/2020 09:23

I really enjoy the Barre classes, though I'm never sure that I'm pirouetting in the correct direction (either way seems difficult!)

PurpleDaisies · 16/12/2020 10:48

I exactly the same @kittykarate! Yesterday’s one involved a pirouette followed by an arabesque, then a pirouette to the other side followed by another arabesque. All of mine were to one direction. Just couldn’t get it right. That’s where it’s really nice to be in my living room rather than in front of actual people!

TabbyStar · 16/12/2020 17:55

I've not tried barre, my worry is that it won't be much of a work out, though that's not based on anything really, does it feel like a good workout?

Matilda2013 · 16/12/2020 23:38

@TabbyStar I've just flicked by this post and I have to say Barre is quite a workout more than I thought it would be! Reminds me of the trickery that is cx. Looks like you're lying down and not doing much but instead you're doing some ballet moves with some weights but you definitely feel it!

TabbyStar · 17/12/2020 06:02

Ah yes, CX, i don't go anywhere near that, though I probably should! I'll give barre a try, thanks!

MaraScottie · 17/12/2020 07:56

Hi. So I've just signed up for the trial. Normally have no issues with exercise but after being sick for a few weeks I have lost my mojo and need a kick up the backside.

I have been looking at this 6 week fast program (I think it's 30 mins a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks). Has anyone done it?

PurpleDaisies · 17/12/2020 08:07

I agree with you @Matilda2013

For me Barre is very like Pilates in that the next day I ache in all sorts of strange places even if I didn’t necessarily feel it at the time. I definitely do find it a workout though, especially for legs (endless plies!) and core from all the balancing.

kittykarate · 17/12/2020 13:18

Hi Mara I was too much of a coward to start with the Fast Burner challenge - I started with Optimal mix prime, but topped it up with barre/shbam to make it five days a week.

It's a well designed one though - lots of people on the facebook group found it very motivating, as it gets you to do measurements and hopefully track improvements.

kittykarate · 17/12/2020 13:33

@TabbyStar - Barre seems to focus on deeper muscles, rather than sweat. Unless you do the jumping echappe you won't really get a sweat on, but do enough toe tappy things (tendus) properly and your arse will twinge the next day.

TabbyStar · 17/12/2020 17:15

I struggle to feel I've exercised if I'm not getting sweaty but I could do with more core exercises, so will have a go at barre (swimming day today!)

TawnyPippit · 18/12/2020 09:08

This is a good prompt to give barre a try. I have done the classes a few times before in the gym but the instructors voice used to drive me insane - like one of those people who had sucked a helium balloon.

I’m trying to do 30 mins of something every day, so will add barre into the roster. (BTW the 30 mins Bodypumps are great as there is no lunge track!)

PurpleDaisies · 18/12/2020 11:34

Hope you like it Tawny. I started with the instruction videos which I found quite useful having no real ballet knowledge! It took me a while to get into but it’s one of my favourite classes now.

kittykarate · 23/12/2020 09:37

Body Attack United for me today as I am just picking workouts I fancy this week rather than following a plan. This is a great Body Attack release, thought the multi-screens of people are a bit hard to see on an 9" tablet screen. There aren't many dud BA's though, it's just so smile inducing, from the cheesy donk-donk dance music to Lisa's enthusiasm.

Goingtogetfit · 28/12/2020 08:51

Hello! Is anyone still keen to post? I signed up last week just in time for the 30 day free trial. I've done an attack on the 23rd then body combat 26th and long walk and body balance class yesterday. Bit stiff this morning but think the balance class helped loosen off my shoulders. Already can notice I feel a bit brighter so hoping to keep it up! No excuse over the holidays with DH about and nowhere else to be!

MsMartini · 28/12/2020 08:56

Hello @Goingtogetfit! Well done - Body Attack is hardcore! Body Combat is my favourite - like some others on here, inside this slightly saggy middle aged woman there is a ninja warrior - the advantage of exercising at home with no mirrors or other people.

I made my dh do a CoreCX yesterday with me - he runs but doesn't do any strength and keeps getting niggly problems. So I think stronger core and glutes may help.

Goingtogetfit · 28/12/2020 15:59

@MsMartini thanks! The attack class was only a 30 mins one so wasn't too bad. Got ahead of myself and did 55 min combat and that's when my shoulders decided they definitely didn't like it Grin

I'm in my 30s with little DC and still the baby weight to shift. it works well for me too. Love that there's so hassle to go out or get ready. especially at the moment with it being so cold and getting dark so early. (In rural Scotland)

Sounds like a good plan for your DH! Hope it helps.

Matilda2013 · 28/12/2020 21:31

I have renewed my subscription to an annual one so I have no excuses in the New Year. Also hoping to buy a house next year so shouldn't be spending money on much else so hopefully this will keep me busy!

jerometheturnipking · 02/01/2021 11:09

Hello all! I've been doing away at the LMOD classes - although I had a while where I was only really doing the odd Balance or 30 minute Attack or Combat session on week days because of the time I was getting back from work at.

I've not tried the BodyAttack United release yet but I've done Combat, Pump and Balance United. I quite liked Combat and Pump was good but one of the tracks had me completely burst - I think it was the press-up pulses in the chest track.

I finally managed to get a hold of a BodyPump barbell set for Christmas and I LOVE it! It's completely transformed my BP classes compared to using my dumbbells. I would 100% recommend trying to get a set if you're serious about doing Pump at home long-term. My set cost £140 inc delivery so not too hideously priced.
