Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

Upsidedownrightnow · 05/06/2020 14:54

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

I went arse over tit on some black ice on Saturday, so I've got a sore back/coccyx. I had to take it steady doing BA this morning, anything jumping was out. I've also got a massive bruise on the palm of my hand, god knows how I did that during the fall.

oneglassandpuzzled · 04/01/2021 12:20

Thank goodness you didn’t break a bone! 😟

kittykarate · 04/01/2021 16:02

I know I was super lucky really oneglass - I really did land with a clatter. Would have been typical really, starting the year off with a bang!

Definitely taking it steady tomorrow - I have a Body Pump on the schedule but might just do 30 mins with really light/no weights to see how I go.

kittykarate · 07/01/2021 11:31

Grit Strength today.

good things about Grit Strenth

  • It's only 30 minutes long
  • It's not Grit Cardio
  • errrr that's it

Lots of fast transitions between moves are always a challenge for me.

oneglassandpuzzled · 07/01/2021 11:35

I agree on every point about GS.

I tend only to do it when I have a lot of work to countering chocolate and cheese consumption. Which may actually be today. Uh-oh.

The only mild satisfaction was watching my 22-year-old look totally shattered doing it as well. It's not just me.

jerometheturnipking · 07/01/2021 15:23

Those are my feelings on GS too 😂

I gave BA United a go on Tuesday - I love Lisa, she’s always so cheery and motivating. Yesterday was BC 83 and I went back to BC 82 this morning - definitely needed to counter the stress of the world at the moment, and not really being able to get out for a good walk this week with the ice we’ve got here. Tomorrow will be a rest day so I might do some BB and I’ll go back to Pump 114 on Saturday. The new release is very good and Diana uses hand weights for the full release which is handy.

oneglassandpuzzled · 07/01/2021 15:35

It's my little escape world, too, jerome. The sun is shining and everyone is young (even if just at heart) and cheerful and Covid doesn't seem as threatening.

I feel almost emotional doing the *united versions of releases: just knowing that the wider world is still out there. And one day we will be able to travel again and see some of those places. I wish they could tag the locations as people pop up. Probably too complicated, though.

I think I might have talked myself into doing Attack this evening.

TabbyStar · 07/01/2021 17:42

I've completely lost motivation for doing anything at the moment, need to get back into it. I had intended to do Step today but I'm waiting for someone to come round to measure up for office shelves and I'm hungry so I need to eat after that. Maybe tomorrow....

And me, about an escape @oneglassandpuzzled. I've not done so much recently, as was focussing on outdoors stuff while I could, but will get stuck back in now. I love calisthenics but the outdoor gyms are all closed now - I know I will lose strength but Les Mills will at least give me a buzz and keep me fit.

I find it easier to motivate myself to do Combat or CoreCX, so will build up with those before going back to Grit or pump.

oneglassandpuzzled · 08/01/2021 22:33

Combat is just great. I like balance, pump and attack too, but combat just makes me forget myself. I am a warrior 😂

MsMartini · 09/01/2021 08:51

@oneglassandpuzzled, me too. Warriors all the way Smile.

Convenient absence of mirrors or other people really helps with that one!

oneglassandpuzzled · 09/01/2021 09:25

Yes. I don't feel such a doughnut when I realise that I'm on the wrong leg!

Singingrain1223 · 10/01/2021 14:24

Yah, BP 114 finally released on the app, enjoyed it but found chest and triceps more challenging than normal. Glad to have a new release.

jerometheturnipking · 14/01/2021 18:14

BC 84 is good fun - it's a lot softer on the knees than 83 and the ab track is really good. The two new presenters are a nice change too, though I miss Marlon!

Matilda2013 · 16/01/2021 12:56

Just completed a Saturday morning Barre class which always works me way harder than I remember Hmm it's not just a little pretend ballet class funnily enough!

JamMakingWannaBe · 17/01/2021 14:13

I found this link in trying to find out the release number of my favourite Sh'Bam class. It gives a 10 second preview of each track. https://youtube.com/channel/UCyIaTLeqTpiPLoQj48CaJgA
Also been enjoying The Trip and waiting for my weight plates to arrive so I can get back into Pump.

Ditto on chest and triceps.

Hello! Just downloaded LMOD so glad I found you guys! Used to do a lot of LM classes years ago when I went to the gym and loved it so looking forward to picking it up again!

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 20/01/2021 20:45

Ooo joining in! Used to love LM in the gym but have been a lazy shit for the past few years and between that and lockdown, desperate times! So doing a class on LMOD each weekday morning. Really enjoying it though BB this morning showed how not bendy I am. BC tomorrow, pump again Friday and then a rest!

TabbyStar · 20/01/2021 21:47

I've been a bit half-hearted, I can't work out a good time to exercise, it would be better early but as I've got older I don't really want to jump out of bed and do it as I'm worried about injury, I need to move around a bit first, but then I want to eat and then I don't want to exercise, then when the day's started there's so much stuff that can push it out of the way (work, DD, my DM) and we tend to eat tea early-ish. I try to dress in exercise clothes, which does help a bit to motivate me as at least don't have to change, but I'd rather have a routine.

When do other people fit it in?

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 20/01/2021 21:54

First thing in the morning (which isn’t super early now i’m WFH - so between 7&8) otherwise I find too many other things to do and too many excuses not to bother. Though DD likes the Born to Move class on there so she has got me joining in with her on a couple of those in the evening.

MsMartini · 20/01/2021 22:59

@TabbyStar, I know! My favourite time is early evening. I'd like to do it first thing so it was a regular routine, but am too creaky, and also find it breaks the lockdown day up. It is just me and dh here now though, and we eat late. So I can do my class, have a bath, have dinner Smile. Sometimes, I combine with other exercise earlier in the day.

TabbyStar · 21/01/2021 07:28

I used to be a morning exerciser, and actually I can still run early, but the Les Mills stuff my body just seems to say no early now! I sometimes try late morning or late afternoon, but it's not any sort of a habit, which is where I want to get to.

kittykarate · 21/01/2021 10:34

I'm a morning exerciser, I get up at 7am, shuffle downstairs to feed the cats. Have my breakfast and then start my workout sometime between 7:30 and 8 (depending on how annoying Nicky Campbell is being on the radio). If I don't do it before I start work it never happens on an evening as I often get bogged down into my work and suddenly find it's after 6pm and I just can't be bothered.

Also key for me actually doing a workout is having it in my diary! My phone pings at 7:30 and it tells me what I have planned (BC/BA etc) and then it's up to me whether I pick a full length or a shorter one.

Tabby Maybe you could try putting it in your diary for 12,and make it your time to take a break?
