Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

I'm sure the old hands on the Facebook forum were saying that gyms get exclusive use of a new release for 3 or 4 months before it shows up on LMOD.

Chocoqueen · 21/10/2020 10:00

Morning! I signed up yesterday for the 14 day trial, I've been doing Beachbody and Jillian Michaels for years and fancied a change. Did a combat/yoga combo yesterday and LOVED it! The hour flew past.

Thinking of doing one of the strength/combat combos later.

Singingrain1223 · 21/10/2020 20:48

Thanks @kittykarate , that makes sense date wise.

gingerscot · 27/10/2020 09:49

I think the next ones will be the United launches? I’m sure when they put them up for the day, they said we’d get them on demand before the end of the year, so hopefully they’ll start dropping in the next couple of weeks. I’ve loved the latest combat and pumps but yeah, would love a new one.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 27/10/2020 14:51

I have started LMOD and I am obsessed! I used to do Combat, Pump and Balance years ago at the gym, and remember really enjoying them like no other exercise, but over the last few years I have totally lost my way with fitness and its so long since I worked up a real sweat with anything. I tried Joe Wicks but just found it so boring and uninspiring (although I know some people love it) and did do some yoga with adrienne but it was never a real workout.

Since getting Les Mills though I have been doing loads - still absolutely love the three I used to do, and tried Attack the other day which was solid but also brilliant. I can't put my finger on what is so great about them, the instructors are so motivating and the music is great. I am thinking of getting a resistance band (the Les Mills one isnt quite as expensive as I was expecting!) to do some of the conditioning stuff, I might try a Grit soon as well if I get up the courage!

Body Pump 111 is definitely my fave so far, love the music (am constantly singing 'walk me home in the deeeeaaaadddd of night'!) Also finding Body Balance a fairly good workout given its quite chilled!

Am really excited to get fit, I hope I can keep it up!

MsMartini · 27/10/2020 16:59

@KnightsofColumbusThatHurt, that's exactly how I feel Smile. I can't quite put my finger on what makes them so good either. I am always on a high afterwards. The variety is terrific I think.

earlydoors42 · 29/10/2020 06:36

Could anyone recommend a cheaper alternative to the official resistance band for cx please?

kittykarate · 29/10/2020 07:47

I use some unbranded resistance tubes for cxworx. They were on offer for £9 at the time, currently closer to £16 www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08D9B52FW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share&tag=mumsnetforu03-21 . Lots of similar items if you search.

You definitely need the handles for cxworx, I tried doing it a flat ribbon shaped band, I nearly twanged my nose off when it slipped off my shoe!

earlydoors42 · 29/10/2020 08:26

Thank you! I have the flat ones without handles, I am so glad you warned me not to try them as I like having a nose!!!

I will look at those you linked, I didn't want to buy something and get the wrong thing. But didn't want to pay the official prices!

kittykarate · 29/10/2020 13:16

If you're feeling at bit more spendy, you can get Adidas and Reebok tubes also. They look a bit more sturdy on the handle attachement.

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 29/10/2020 16:15

Oh my god, I actually cried during Body Combat today, what is wrong with me?! It was the last big track just before the core track, and I was just so exhausted but also on a kind of high, and I was thinking back to when I was really ill a couple of years ago and the treatment left me unable to even walk around the block without being shattered, and as the track finished I just started crying my eyes out! I sound like some kind of crazy woman.

This is why I am much better doing this shit at home, imagine if I was with other actual people?! Right that's it, no more crying during Les Mills! 😂

TabbyStar · 30/10/2020 20:22

Hello all, I've just found you're here via another thread. I've been doing Attack, Balance and Pump since the beginning of the lockdown. I might give Combat a go again, though I feel a bit ridiculous doing some of the moves!

Can anyone recommend a cheap-ish step? I've had a look but am a bit worried about whether the cheaper ones will slip around. Also they seem to be shorter than the better-known branded ones, so I wonder whether that's an issue? TIA!

nbee84 · 30/10/2020 20:47

Have a look on Amazon at their Amazonbasics aerobics step - about £40ish. It's the kind we used at one of the gym's I've been to. I bought the reebok one as it was about all that was in stock when I was looking, more expensive but does the job. You definitely need a longer step as you will be lieing on it for the chest track in pump.
When you get one have a go at bodystep - again you need the length for moving around. I wan't sure I'd enjoy step, thought of it as a bit of an 80's/90's workout but I really enjoy it and it's great fun - even when I end up going the wrong way Grin

TabbyStar · 30/10/2020 21:09

Thank you - yes I want the step for Step, I'm expecting to be crap! The 90s is probably the last time I did Step and I was crap then, I don't suppose another 25 years on my age will help but at least I won't be embarrassing myself in public.... It's a bit of variation on BodyAttack, which also reminds me a bit of the aerobics of the 90s!

nbee84 · 30/10/2020 21:21

BodyAttack - 90's aerobics on steroids Grin

MsMartini · 30/10/2020 21:22

I've just bought a Mirafit step. It is great. And done two step classes - jeepers, they are hard! I am pouring with sweat even though I am usually doing the wrong thing Grin.

TabbyStar · 30/10/2020 21:33

And done two step classes - jeepers, they are hard! I am pouring with sweat even though I am usually doing the wrong thing

Sounds perfect Grin

MsMartini · 31/10/2020 09:41

@TabbyStar Oh yes Grin

ILoveYoga · 31/10/2020 09:52

We do Les Mils body pump at the gym. We did buy the kit (most) just as lock down ended but before gyms reopened as we couldn’t find in stock anywhere during actual lock down. We will likely be doing it again

I use a fit bit. I find using the larger single weight over my head either in combination squat and push over head or clean and press really gets my heart pumping and into “peak” minutes.

earlydoors42 · 01/11/2020 11:35

I did a hybrid workout which made me realise I like Body Attack! I usually work out bare foot but I'm wondering if trainers would be better with all the running in Attack? I felt it in my ankles. What do you think? (I don't actually have any trainers so would need to get some!)

TabbyStar · 01/11/2020 12:57

I love Body Attack! Yes definitely trainers. I started out low impact and barefoot but even that seemed to benefit from trainers, then it got me jumping and then back to running again after a four-year injury break (I thought if I can run up and down my kitchen, I can probably run outside).

earlydoors42 · 01/11/2020 16:25

Thank you! Are we allowed to try trainers on in shops if I rush before Thursday? I can't keep track of the rules! I feel a bit like I could run outside now too - I never have before!

MsMartini · 01/11/2020 18:18

dh just got fitted with new trainers in a running shop - they let him try them outside.

earlydoors42 · 01/11/2020 20:31

Ooh perfect thanks. I will try and get some this week so I can Body Attack through the lockdown month! (Or more....)

Verytired2019 · 03/11/2020 00:42

Hi all, I used to do Body Combat and Attack (plus body balance and pump a handful of times) years ago and enjoyed them.
I’m 10 weeks PP and only have a small front room to work out in (literally size of my rug 200x200cm!). Would be workouts be suitable for working out in such a small space or do you have to do a lot of travelling like in the classes?
We used to cover a huge room in Body Attack!
I always managed to do 30 Day Shred easily as everything is static/on the spot.
