Can we make a Les Mills on demand thread?

I'm just wondering if others are using Les Mills on demand and if we could maybe check in with each other to discuss what we are doing and what our goals are etc?

I am trying to loose 1 stone and doing 5:2 but i eat too much on my non-fasting days so I don't really loose any weight, so I'm adding exercise in the hope of shifting some weight Smile

So far I have done bodycombat 3 times this week for about half an hour each and some weights and flexibility training, but I think from next week I will be adding in bodypump

Is anyone else using this? I am really enjoying it so far Smile

I've had a good week with it. DH is off tomorrow so I'll have a morning off the cardio but will still go for a walk, maybe do a bit of yoga. I've done Combat 83 every morning this week, and tacked the upper body 40 min Pump 110 (where they're outside) onto the end of Tuesday's. I'm finding Combat 83 is a very "every day is leg day" release, whereas 82 felt more of an all-rounder, so didn't want to do the squat and lunge tracks of pump. I might do 82 on Saturday to balance it out a bit.

kittykarate · 27/08/2020 11:14

That is always hard when you start and annoying with the camera swoops but you won't even need to look soon enough takes me 2-3 times per release lol.

Ah sociallydistanced this makes more sense. I basically launched into one of the plans Optimal Mix Prime so I'm doing different sessions all the time so while there are obviously a few repeated moves between the sessions, it's all a surprise to me when they show up!

sociallydistained · 29/08/2020 10:31

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa wow that's a good price. I had a look a bikes briefly in lockdown but was overwhelmed. May I ask where yours was from, what brand? I'd love to do it at home I'd definitely utilise LMOD to its max.

jerometheturnipking · 29/08/2020 12:29

I’m interested to hear about the bike roo 😊 not that I have space for a bike but when we move I want to have space to have one set up.

I did Pump 111 this morning. I think it’s my favourite Pump release from the past while. I ended up doing combat 83 (again!) yesterday because DH’s day off was cancelled. Going to have tomorrow and Monday as rest days. My schedule is going to have to change after this week with my teacher training course starting so I’ll be interested to see how I can fit in my workouts, particularly around placements.

Abraid2 · 29/08/2020 12:33

I did two of the instructors’ limited-time releases this morning, the vinyasa flow and Erin’s cardio, though I didn’t finish the latter because my shoulders were a bit tired from the vinyasa and there are lots of fireflies, mountain climbers, planks etc. I might finish it late on when my shoulders have rested a bit.

No music but somehow that can help you concentrate on getting the moves right, especially in the vinyasa. Quite a good way to do do something different.

@MsMartini

I'm still loving LMOD. I do strength training in parks and an outdoors core class once a week, and run a bit. So I use LMOD to top up, on bad weather days, or to cheer me up.

There is so much variety, I can't see me going back to a gym to do classes any time soon.

I've done some of the hybrid ones now - really good - has anyone else been trying them?

I love hybrid!
MozzchopsThirty · 01/09/2020 07:03

Has anyone done the 6 week challenges? I'm looking at doing the fast burner

DeadBod · 02/09/2020 12:30

I've just found this thread.
I've been doing LM classes for years and converted to LMOD during lockdown. I started off only having 2.5kg hand weights but finally got a barbell set from Argos after lockdown eased. A step should be arriving from Amazon today.
I love BP and Yoga. Combat is good but I struggle with my knees so I modify it and keep things tame rather than jumping around. I've suspended my gym membership until Xmas, so hopefully I'll stay motivated.
It's nice to have recommendations for classes. Has anyone found something low impact but gets you breathless?

MsMartini · 02/09/2020 17:16

Has anyone got any resistance bands recommendations?

I need a new one and am wondering about a set like these www.amazon.co.uk/TOPELEK-Exercise-Resistance-Training-Fitness-dp-B07SPBW6NL/dp/B07SPBW6NL/ref=dp_ob_title_sports?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I want to use it/them for CoreCX but maybe other strength training too, especially come winter. Or I could get one of the Les Mills ones?

I've got something like this at the moment and need more resistance www.sportsdirect.com/everlast-resistance-trainer-761364#colcode=76136491

Thanks!

jerometheturnipking · 02/09/2020 18:24

The Les Mills resistance bands seem quite pricey, but they are flat and I wonder if they would be nicer to work with - I get really irritated when my band rolls its way out from under my foot during CX.

I've had two days of Combat 83 this week, might add a Pump in tomorrow or do a CX works after Combat. I might mix it up a bit and do an older release tomorrow (might... maybe... Grin)

Abraid2 · 02/09/2020 19:12

I’ve just done the new Grit. At least it’s short!

nbee84 · 02/09/2020 21:04

@MsMartini - those are the bands I have. I find they work fine for cx, as mentioned you have to be careful to anchor them under your feet properly. They are particularly good because you can use the different strength bands that suit you. They are great for additional strength workouts. If you do a youtube search for resistance band workouts you can find loads.

nbee84 · 02/09/2020 21:11

I've had a few problems with my knee lately - possibly an IT band or meniscus problem. Caused I think by a Garmin training running programme I was doing - my mileage upped considerably. I found I was ok doing pump as you are static and I was fine with squatting and lunging I was just avoiding any impact. Feeling much better this week so I attempted combat 83. 15 mins in something went pop behind my knee and I'm now in agony Sad I've iced, elevated and taken ibuprofen. Currently applying some heat but I can't wait bare on that leg at the moment and had to come down the stairs on my bum! Don't think I'm going to be doing anything for a while [cry]

MsMartini · 02/09/2020 21:25

@nbee84 and @jerometheturnipking thank you!

@nbee84, do you mean those are exactly your bands? How extraordinary, of all the bands and makes out there.... Smile. What a pain about your knee....so frustrating.

nbee84 · 02/09/2020 21:32

These are the ones I have, they look pretty much the same.

MsMartini · 02/09/2020 22:57

Great, thanks

jerometheturnipking · 03/09/2020 10:33

No combat for me today, ran 5k instead and followed up with CX works. Made the mistake of taking my trainers off to do it - don’t recommend resistance band wood chops with bare feet 😬

TawnyPippit · 03/09/2020 10:42

I’ve just done a Trip - am a sweaty mess!! Really recommend Trip for anyone who has a spin bike and is a reluctant user of it (admittedly might be a small demographic!)

SoManyActivities · 06/09/2020 21:50

Hi, I am thinking of getting this. Can I just ask, do you access it via username and password? Can someone access it on a different device, so if I got it could DH use it on his tablet?

Floofsquidge · 07/09/2020 01:54

@SoManyActivities yes, username & pw. I have it on phone and iPad and usually mirror to the tv. They do 30 day or more free trials if you want to try before you buy.

MsMartini · 07/09/2020 13:55

@SoManyActivities Hi, I think it is up to three devices. I've got a firestick TV and downloaded the app to there so nice big screen.

sociallydistained · 08/09/2020 07:09

Did the new Grit Athletic and Grit Cardio and so many ladders,.,, also one legged burpees. They're taking the Mick! Grit always makes me feel so good though.

Just seen new BodyAttack is on there how exciting! Shall we trying that this week.

SoManyActivities · 10/09/2020 19:39

Thank you @Floofsquidge and @MsMartini I think I am going to take the plunge - there are a couple of body pump/body combats on YouTube (I think they have released a couple in Covid?) but once I get bored of those ones I think I am going to get it! Have just done a body combat and forgot how much I love it - i used to do it at the gym years ago but haven't had a gym membership for ages.

I enjoy it so much more than say Joe Wicks which is just hideous, these are much more fun! I don't know, I wonder if it's the music? I much prefer exercising to music, I love dance stuff as well. Is all of the Les Mills stuff to music?

sociallydistained · 10/09/2020 20:47

@SoManyActivities Honestly LMOD has so much content and is constantly updated that I am amazed by it. I've had it for 4 years now but during lockdown and now it has been better than ever! I have enjoyed the live streams and the new trainer videos and programmes. I have done a different LMOD workout 5x this week already there is so much variety I can't get bored!

I'm due back to the gym September 19th (membership unfreezes) and I'm honestly not sure where I'll fit the gym in because I am loving all my LMOD workouts and want to continue doing this variety. The only thing I need the gym for is spin and some heavier weights.

SoManyActivities · 10/09/2020 21:25

Oh it sounds great, and it's not even really that expensive is it?
