Each time it jumped up to a longer time I was sure it would be too much but it never was. As long as you don't go too fast it will be fine.

TryingToBeBold · 09/06/2020 10:53

@Murmurur don't procrastinate! Oh I know that 20 min run is intimidating.. oh I know it is

But you'll surprise yourself!

@YorkshireParentalPerson you may be thankful for that warm up later. I remember doing week 5, doing 2 8 min runs. Struggled to do first one but not the second (surely it should be the other way round?!), but I narrowed it down to not warming up enough. Now I do 5 mins but a couple of inclines in there to warm the legs

Castoreum · 09/06/2020 11:37

@ PrincessWatermelon I did W4R1 today and I won't deny it was really really hard! But I did get through it, only faltering a bit in the final 5 minute run. I think I was incredibly slow by this point but I kept going. You can do it!

Murmurur · 09/06/2020 14:10

@TryingtobeBold thank you for the pep talk! Seriously I'm v overweight and was never expecting to get through without repeating weeks, so a bit of consolidation now does seem sensible.

Merename · 09/06/2020 14:43

Hello all, I just finished week 4 today, hadn’t realised that each run changes in week 5 - intimidating! I was confused by you all mentioning 20m early on and thought that was weeks away.

I had a 3 day gap for the first time before today’s run, as my knee had felt a bit vulnerable, and now I feel sooo wrecked. Sore legs but more just generally exhausted. I feel I went quite fast (for me) today, I was feeling good, and did some extra running in each segment. So is that it, is that normal? I’m usually a bit tired after but today is different, I actually can’t face taking the kids out even though I know I will pay for it!

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 09/06/2020 14:53

I graduated today! I kept running at the end to do a 5k in 34 minutes.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 09/06/2020 15:15

Congratulations @farontothemaddingcrowd!! Great time.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 09/06/2020 15:49

Thank you! I’m really pleased. DH thinks my heart rate is worryingly high there and is nagging me to call the GP. I think it is probably just because I’m anaemic. I feel fine when I’m running.

Sunshineandflipflops · 09/06/2020 15:59

Great work @Farontothemaddingcrowd! Similar time to me this morning!

My heart rate is usually on the higher side when running too but always has been. I'm one of those lucky people who sweats a lot, goes red in the face and has a high heart rate when running! Been doing this 10 years now too...

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 09/06/2020 16:06

@Sunshineandflipflops well done to you too, it is a great feeling! Feels like a massive achievement. I think I’m similar to you, I go very red and my heart rate shoots up and then goes down quickly when I stop. DH thinks I’m going to keel over and die on a run and I’ve told him I’m perfectly fineGrin

Castoreum · 09/06/2020 16:34

@Farontothemaddingcrowd Congratulations!

mama4321 · 09/06/2020 16:44

Well done @Farontothemaddingcrowd

PrincessWatermelon · 09/06/2020 17:57

Well done to those completing their 5k. I look forward to joining your ranks 😁

@Castoreum thanks for the encouragement! Good job on getting through it. I was thinking I had til Friday, but reckon it'll be Thursday instead. Mind over matter!

Castoreum · 09/06/2020 18:42

Good luck!

Cherrypi · 09/06/2020 18:55

After my first 25 minute run on Sunday I got a bit cold after I cooled down and then had a hot bath. I had fever and chills that day and the next. I had a covid test which has come back negative. Is this a running/exercise thing? Thanks.

granadagirl · 09/06/2020 18:56

Did any of you feel embarrassed when you first went out? Did you start from your front door
I’m very self conscious and be embarrassed if anyone saw me

GuyFawkesDay · 09/06/2020 18:59

Yup.

A few weeks into lockdown. I still hadn't got used to being barefaced, and am still a bit self conscious but I give fewer shits now. No makeup, no worrying about my pasty legs or red face.

I still go out at 6:30am, mind you.

But I'm out, I'm running and I am in my little crazy music c25k bubble.

carrottopper · 09/06/2020 19:09

@granadagirl I was/am. I drive to my local (10 min drive) park and put a cap on. I don't run near my house as there are lots of driveways, curbs, dog walkers and hills. I'm really clumsy and also want to switch off and not talk to people.

ChanklyBore · 09/06/2020 19:10

Great start yorkshireparentalperson. Glad you got out there.

I haven’t had any chills or fever from running, other than the beetroot face cherrypi

I go with “still lapping the people on the sofa” mentality if I feel embarrassed granadagirl. But I do speed up when I pass people at least until I’m past the horizon! Ha.

Congratulations on your graduation Farontothemaddingcrowd!! Great time.

I did my first Laura-free run today. It was harder than expected, I do struggle with going too fast (for me) at the start and then feel like I can’t carry on by 3.5km - I need some tips on trying to regulate myself! I did carry on and today’s 5km was 33.12 which I’m pleased with but the difference in the pace is silly - 2nd km was 5.51 - 4th was 7.32.

YesThisIsMe · 09/06/2020 19:14

DH and I just back from W6R3. I finally got around to setting up Map My Run and it said we were doing a consistent pace of around 7.5 minutes per kilometre which I’m happy with at this point (we’re in our early 50s).

TryingToBeBold · 09/06/2020 20:13

@granadagirl start your warm up from your front door and you'll be at least 5 mins away when you start.

Baseball cap does it for me but I promise noone cares. Everyone is just thinking... is she crazy, because they would never try.

My shorts ride up now. No makeup. Red face. But when you're in that bubble.. I just dont care.

@Farontothemaddingcrowd a big congratulations on your graduation!!

Sexnotgender · 09/06/2020 20:15

Well done @FarontothemaddingcrowdStar

mama4321 · 09/06/2020 20:16

@granadagirl Definitely. An early start, sunglasses, a hat, choosing a direction to take me past as few houses as possible until I can get off road . Fortunately I am pretty rural . In the later runs and now I've graduated I care much less, Though like @ChanklyBore I speed up if I do see people. Just to make sure they can see I'm a proper runner Grin - then try to get out of sight as quickly as possible so I can slow down again!

Fudgefeet · 09/06/2020 20:20

Me and my 12 yr old DD completed our last run today.
We went separately For one run last week, she went too fast and felt sick afterwards and I actually gave up a few times and walked a bit so we’ve decided in future we will always run together from now on. That is until her swim club starts back up, she is adamant that she’s only running until she can swim again. I’m still waiting for that moment where it feels effortless and I don’t look like I’m going to die.

carrottopper · 09/06/2020 20:34

W3 r1 done. Did not enjoy that at all!!!! I have been doing a lot of hiit and did a quick 20 minutes hiit this morning so think I may have over done it. My lower legs really hurt!!!! Slightly worried this is going to put me off
