I’m ok. Feel like a ‘proper runner’ now 😂

JonHammIsMyJamm · 04/06/2020 17:31

Ooooh that finger looks sore, @Sunshineandflipflops. Good going on the PB though!

chunkyrun · 04/06/2020 17:33

Hope you make a speedy recovery!

Ran 25mins today. Had to get creative went on a different route and had to loop round abit to make sure I hit 25mins. First time running in afternoon, was soo hot and busy. I'm definitely a morning person when it comes to running but my ds is back in nursery now so can't make it.

GuyFawkesDay · 04/06/2020 17:38

I'm champing at the bit today, which of course means that tomorrow morning at run time I will definitely not want to go 😆😆😆

Aim tomorrow is just to keep going. I'm going to see how long I can potter on for. If I get to 5km then brilliant, I know I can do it and then can work on pottering a little bit faster than granny speed

Wow this is a busy thread!

Well done to @imamearcat on that fast 5k and progressing so quickly.

@TryingToBeBold I'm now leaving two rest days between runs as I'm onto week 9 and they've all been long runs for a while. I was hoping to have graduated by now but I feel my legs need it.

@Sunshineandflipflops that's a really reasonable time Even it didn't include a fall. Hope you're ok.

I wish I could run in the morning but I just struggle . Working up to going out soon, just waiting to digest a chocolate chip cookie Blush. Loving the cooler weather now, one less thing to think about.

notheragain4 · 04/06/2020 18:48

Hello all, checking in after being signposted here!

So I've always hated exercise, can do yoga and walking anything other than that just doesn't interest me. I'm relatively slim (could do with losing a stone if I'm honest!) but I would like to get healthier. DH is a big runner, done half marathons, could probably do a marathon if he wanted!

I started 4 weeks ago with my 9 year old (who runs circles around me, he can't wait for the harder weeks!) when I tried it in the past I couldn't get through week 2! I've just completed week 3, I will probably do one more week 3 run though, I find 4 sessions works better for me than 3, especially as I sometimes take a break between. Saturday and Tuesday.

imamearcat · 04/06/2020 19:26

Hi @notheragain4 Smile.

If you want to run more than 3 days a week I think it's fine to just continue with the next run - you don't have to stick to the weeks if you want to make quicker progress. Also fine to repeat runs - whatever suits you best.

NoTeaForMe · 04/06/2020 19:52

I’ve got my last week 7 run to do tomorrow. But, my legs ache today, my hamstrings almost hurt - and have terrible period pains, just waiting to come on. I have ran every other day since starting this and don’t want to miss tomorrow but this is the first time I don’t feel that excited about going. Tell me I’ll be ok by tomorrow. At least it will be cooler.

NoTeaForMe · 04/06/2020 19:53

Ow @Sunshineandflipflops the blurryness of the photo makes it look like a bit of your skin is hanging off. Are you ok?

Sunshineandflipflops · 04/06/2020 19:59

@NoTeaForMe I’m fine thanks. I was a bit shaken when I took the photo, hence the bluriness! The skin was a little handing off but nothing too major once the blood was cleaned up! Going to have a cracking bruise on my knee though.

TwistyHair · 04/06/2020 20:06

@FloatOn I was like that when I started. Felt jealous of those who were further on and doing so well. And now that’s me! Although I think I may have a shin splint so that’s annoying.

@Sunshine you’re totally nails.

TryingToBeBold · 04/06/2020 20:08

@Sunshine ouch!! You know you have cursed all your future PBs now Wink sorry to hear about the watch thoughSad

@notheragain4 completely agree. If you need to repeat redo or speed through the runs they are all perfectly valid options. You do what feels right for you.

@RonBurgundyspanpipe that's reassured me loads! Between W8R3, W9R1 and W9R2 (to be completed tomorrow) I've took 2 rest days between them all.

Egora · 04/06/2020 20:25

@bookshop I've just downloaded that app, thank you.

Can you play music along with it?

I'm finding motivation to go out a big issue. I feel like I've completed it, met my goal and now it's hard to want to do it.

Especially as I'm still finding it really hard Blush

Sexnotgender · 04/06/2020 20:33

Ouch Sunshine! That looks sore.

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 04/06/2020 20:34

I was inspired today so completed w9r2 but continued for 33 and a half minutes. I stopped because I was getting pain in my inner right ankle just below the ankle bone though I think I could have made 35 minutes. Don't want to risk injury and not graduate. My pace was very slow which surprised me so no pbs today on strava accept my longest run ever and that is enough for me.

Two more rest days for me @TryingToBeBold and I will try to graduate on Sunday if my ankle is feeling better. I have done exactly the same as you with the rest days, I was doing every other day until I failed W8r2 and knew I needed to give my body a longer rest, that and hydrate myself more.

TryingToBeBold · 04/06/2020 20:43

@RonBurgundyspanpipe

Yea I need to be less harsh on myself and know its okay to take 2 rest days if need be

TryingToBeBold · 04/06/2020 20:45

I'm determined to keep my 3 runs a week so the aim is tomorrow and then graduate sunday too Grin
Can you believe we've made it this far?!

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 04/06/2020 20:50

@TryingToBeBold it's unbelievable. Up to week 3/4 I couldn't catch my breath and then suddenly it clicked. Since week 8 my beetroot face is now a paler shade of red. Haven't lost much weight though I'm not using scales but my calves are bigger and my thighs feel more toned. I'm loving it though and shocked at my progress. I actually enjoyed this run and felt comfortable all the way round until my ankle started to hurt. Amazing programme!!

Sexnotgender · 04/06/2020 20:52

I’m taking 2 rest days and running on Saturday because Friday is takeaway and wine night 😂

rarathenoisylioness · 04/06/2020 20:55

@NoTeaForMe I'm with you on 7/3 tomorrow.
Hoping it will be much cooler in the morning than it has been for the last couple of runs.

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 04/06/2020 21:01

@Sexnotgender Friday night is takeaway and gin night in this house so Saturdays can never be guaranteed 😃

NoTeaForMe · 04/06/2020 21:19

@rarathenoisylioness ah, someone exactly the same stage. Now I’ll definitely have to go out tomorrow! How have you been finding it?

rarathenoisylioness · 04/06/2020 21:26

@NoTeaForMe better now it is just longer runs (I think!). Week 6 intervals I really struggled. 7/1 I was ok but had to really slow down in the middle, 7/2 I made it the whole way round (but still did the exact same distance I did when I had to really slow down in the middle!). Feeling ok about tomorrow because I'm hoping it will be a lot cooler. You?

TryingToBeBold · 04/06/2020 21:43

@RonBurgundyspanpipe

I'm finding my legs are definitely more toned and my csection podge is.. less. Still podge but less podge which I'm super pleased about

Alamindah · 04/06/2020 21:46

I did week 6/2 today and was really struggling but carried on running for 23 minutes! I always walk/jog fir 5K and managed under 37.5 minutes today. Slow but good for me - I've always been a non-runner and at 51 those habits are well embedded!
