I did my first 'run' today. Think I'm going to need help to go all the way to week 9 but determined to do it before I hit the big 50. Anyone else started this week? Fancy a support thread? Couldn't see an active recent one.

Setting off for week 7 run 2 once i’ve got my wee boy in bed. I found my last run really hard but I think that had a lot to do with the massive mound of mash id eaten for dinner! Hoping the nice weather and a good podcast will spur me on today. Great to hear so many others doing so well!

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 06/05/2020 19:49

Hi all, may I join?

Just finished Wk3 run 3. So proud of myself but by God it's still a test of endurance!

Is Wk 4 really 8 minutes of running? I may do Wk 3 again.

wantingahome · 06/05/2020 20:26

Managed my furthest distance today doing week 2 run 2 and managing 3.49km 😁 my first run was 3k so managing to up the distance each time! Feeling great 🙌🏼🏃🏽‍♀️

titsbumfannythelot · 06/05/2020 20:39

Week 5 is 8 minutes, I'm two runs away from that just now. Feels like much more. We'll all get there in the end 😄

BookShop · 06/05/2020 20:56

@OhTheseSummerNiiiiights I found the 8 minutes easier than I anticipated. Give it a try. You can always go back and repeat a session but you don’t know until you try.

Baseline2815 · 07/05/2020 06:48

Aaargh. I do not want to go out and run 28 minutes today. Someone make me.

BlahBlahLand · 07/05/2020 06:50

No me @Baseline2815 but it's a lovely sunny day and I can't think of an excuse. Maybe a cup of tea first?

Baseline2815 · 07/05/2020 07:11

It is a truly gorgeous day, good point. Have had tea, which helped. Will mess about with my playlist, sit dc down for home schooling, prep for the workday and try to get out there...

titsbumfannythelot · 07/05/2020 07:13

Think of what you can reward yourself with later Baseline, that will spur you on.

BookShop · 07/05/2020 07:55

@Baseline2815 you only regret the the runs you don’t start. It’s a gorgeous day and the birds are singing. Grab the tranquility while you can. 😀

Baseline2815 · 07/05/2020 08:47

Thank you all! Did it, and it was the easiest one yet at this length. Park wasn't tranquil, but it was nice.

Baseline2815 · 07/05/2020 08:48

Week 9 is the next run.

choc27 · 07/05/2020 14:04

W7r3 completed and was my best run! I felt really good and even sped up at the end. Its the first time I've ever felt good after a run. Bring on week 8!

mama4321 · 07/05/2020 15:42

@choc27 Well done on W7R3. I am glad you enjoyed it. Your enthusiasm somehow makes me feel much more positive about doing it tomorrow, after not enjoying the last one. Grin

resipsa · 07/05/2020 16:15

So pleased to see everyone's progress. Did my 3rd 5K of the week today. It was a beautiful morning Smile.

Honestly @mama4321 I was so excited afterwards because I felt good and could have kept running! Glad it spurs you on, hope its a good one for you too!

Borgonzola · 07/05/2020 16:38

I've just finished week 2 Smile this is very inspiring Thanks

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 07/05/2020 16:52

Well done @choc27, w6r3 tomorrow and a little apprehensive about 25 minutes. This is giving me some hope.

choc27 · 07/05/2020 17:41

@RonBurgundyspanpipe I struggled with the 1st 25 min run, I had to slow right down in the middle (on treadmill so know my speed!), the second one was a bit better and honestly can't wait for 28 mins now!

ChristmasTree999 · 07/05/2020 17:49

Hi everyone Smile can I ask you all about sore shins? Did anyone else suffer at the beginning and did it go away? Just at the start of c25k and shins so sore on this mornings run that I had trouble keeping up the brisk walking parts. My fitness levels are pretty good and I’m wearing proper trainers/putting my heel down first. It’s so frustrating- any ideas?

OhTheseSummerNiiiiights · 07/05/2020 21:03

Thank you for the welcome!

Think I might re-do Wk3. Having to stop would be such a let down.

So impressed by those of you up at Wk 7 and 8! Keep it going!

ChanklyBore · 07/05/2020 21:45

Welcome everybody new and well done on all the runs.

Week 5 run 3 for me today. The dreaded one! (Anyone on week 2, don’t look)

I stole a march on it two days ago because it was stressing me out so I’d already done the time but I pushed it to 25 mins today. Distance and speed were pants. But I ran for 25 minutes! And I guess, week six goes back into intervals? I’m enjoying this all so much more than I thought I would.

Thinking about investing in some running ‘gear’ which I guess I means I’m aiming to carry this on? Eek.

ChanklyBore · 07/05/2020 21:49

ChristmasTree - it’s probably because you are landing on your heels. Can you aim for landing more mid foot? I thought that landing on your heel increased the impact.

Look, there is me acting like I know anything at all about running.

ChristmasTree999 · 07/05/2020 22:01

Thank you - I’ll try and change it up a bit and see if that helps. I’m willing to try any suggestions!

GuyFawkesDay · 07/05/2020 22:07

The Japanese Niko Niko chap is all about the midfoot strike.
