I did my first 'run' today. Think I'm going to need help to go all the way to week 9 but determined to do it before I hit the big 50. Anyone else started this week? Fancy a support thread? Couldn't see an active recent one.

@titsbumfannythelot

Hard work. Friend drove past and shouted encouragement which was nice. She was on her way to work at the local hospital so I then felt bad that I was out having fun 😬

Not been yet. Evening is my preference.

Sorry to read about the loss of your mum SadLemon.

MintToBee · 23/04/2020 12:13

First run with knee brace on. Just did a run from Week 2 to get started again. Boy was it hard!!!

Baseline2815 · 23/04/2020 12:14

Flowers SadLemon. I'm so sorry.

Baseline2815 · 23/04/2020 12:18

Finished W6R2. That felt tough, but I'll still crack on to R3 on Saturday. From here on, it's all running no walking. Shock

JonHammIsMyJamm · 23/04/2020 12:20

@HappyLemonSadLemon, I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. Flowers.

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 23/04/2020 12:31

@happylemonsadlemon sorry to hear about your mum. Take care but keep up the running if it helps your mental health Daffodil

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 23/04/2020 14:02

Just completed week 4 run 2, my right foot has gone completely numb. It did it last run too, that can't be normal. Breathing was fine, legs were burning, that was tough

JonHammIsMyJamm · 23/04/2020 14:53

Stupid question but are you tying your shoelaces too tight on your right foot?

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 23/04/2020 16:17

Lol that was my only explanation as I'm right handed I thought it could be? I am double knotting them as they were coming undone Grin

JonHammIsMyJamm · 23/04/2020 16:46

Great minds, eh?

I’ve just completed W2. I didn’t really feel like doing it but got about half way through and was glad I’d started, so hey-ho. I forgot to stretch beforehand but I’d been on the move all day, including a cross country dog walk. So hopefully that went some way to warming me up. I did try to focus a bit on my breathing though and found my calves were less achy, so that’s something.

Week 3 here I come... Smile

HappyStripper · 23/04/2020 20:21

Didn’t run yesterday or today as I live in Texas and woke up too late in the day so it was too hot to even go for a walk never mind a run. Lockdown has been messing with my sleep schedule but I’m gonna try to wake up early enough tomorrow. Did do a 15 minute walk up and down the stairs though, thinking I may need a treadmill.

ememem84 · 23/04/2020 20:44

week three run 1 done. i never ever thought three weeks ago i could run for 3 minutes without stopping. but i did it. proper feeling of achievement today!

no running tomorrow - might take ds for a walk though. next run on Sunday morning. Riding on Saturday so getting my cardio then.

keep up the good work guys!

HappyLemonSadLemon · 23/04/2020 22:01

Thank you all for your condolences. Very lovely of you all.

So I did get out for a run today as I needed to get out of the house just to get some perspective more than anything else. I chose to run without music just so I could process everything that has gone in this week. Turns out that it clearly made me run faster because at the end I was completely destroyed by it (w4r4 - been repeating). Need to check the data my Fitbit to see if I did but can't be arsed right now. I got out and ran which is the main thing. #winning 💪

resipsa · 23/04/2020 22:55

@HappyLemonSadLemon
Glad you found it useful Thanks

Well done all today’s runners! Especially those finding it challenging in different ways.

Props to you, SadLemon - I always run without music and I know I’m running well when I can think about something else other than the actual effort. Don’t destroy yourself though - the pain doesn’t fix it, it’s just a distraction.

Week 3 run 2 completed today. I need to take my own advice as I didn’t want to stop at the three minute mark so extended my final run to six minutes. But I was happy chugging away so I didn’t think it would hurt Blush I did my proper five minute wind down.

GuyFawkesDay · 24/04/2020 09:42

Flowers @HappyLemonSadLemon I'm sorry to hear about your mum xx

W2R1 done and it was.....fine. was bit concerned but finished with definite spare

CeibaTree · 24/04/2020 10:35

W5 R2 this morning, I was amazed that I managed 2 x 8 minute runs when just a couple of weeks ago I was so happy that I could run for 3 minutes!

I'm glad you managed to get out for a run HappyLemonSadLemon

Have a great day everyone :)

dancemom · 24/04/2020 10:59

Started Week 9 today, if anything my pace has slowed slightly but I'm running for a full 30 minutes so I'm happy with that. Not going to manage 5K in 30 minutes though!

titsbumfannythelot · 24/04/2020 11:01

Just completed week 2. Going to enjoy the sunshine now.

Sorry about your mum @HappyLemonSadLemon hope you and yours are all doing ok.

Have a lovely weekend all Smile

resipsa · 24/04/2020 13:53

@dancemom
Congratulations! My pace is 7 mins so no way will I get to 5K in Week 9 but I'll be happy with doing 30 mins 😁

OP posts:
CeibaTree · 24/04/2020 14:41

@resipsa I feel the same - it's not about the distance for me but the stamina of (hopefully!) being able to run for 30 mins :)

resipsa · 24/04/2020 15:04

@CeibaTree
Makes you feel you could call yourself a 'runner' without an inward cringe 😂

OP posts:
ChanklyBore · 24/04/2020 17:53

I wasn’t due to go until tomorrow but I actively wanted to go for a “run” today - so I did. Not sure what that’s about. But I have officially finished week three. It seems to have gone really fast! Week four run one on Sunday, I think. I will be having a little celebrating on the day I run for thirty minutes without stopping !

sulkysukey · 24/04/2020 18:29

@CeibaTree I'm at the same stage as you! Loved my W5R2 today - even saved a bit of energy for the end. But still worried about W5R3... I'm going to do it on Sunday 🤞
