Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

Hi 👋 can I join?

I’m on week 2 at the moment and all seems to be okay. I find it’s my head that stops me more than anything else - I have to really convince myself that I can do it. I’m doing it to help my mental health (very stressed and anxious at the moment!) but losing weight would be nice too!

gorganzolabrie · 20/04/2019 20:44

Happy Easter everyone. Well I did it! I've just completed w9r3 - a few days later than expected because of a twinge in my hip. It was a beautiful evening to run in and I'm high with endorphins (and achievement obvs).

If A 60 year old with dodgy knees, flat feet and two arthritic big toes (hallux rigidus) can do it, then I know the rest of you can.

JPduck · 20/04/2019 21:03

Congrats @gorganzolabrie 🍾🍾🍾

gorganzolabrie · 20/04/2019 21:09

Thanks @JPduck. I see you're on run 5. I found that the most challenging. It seemed to get easier after that.

randomjuxtaposition · 20/04/2019 21:10

Oops I meant week 5.

JPduck · 20/04/2019 21:12

@gorganzolabrie - I hope it does get easier! I'm having to have an enforced break as hubby is away and no childcare, till wed, fingers crossed the break doesn't have an effect!🤞🏻

randomjuxtaposition · 20/04/2019 21:27

@JPduck you'll be fine. I had a break of a week with my dodgy hip. It wasn't long enough to affect my fitness.

chaosisaladder · 20/04/2019 21:40

@gorganzolabrie that’s fantastic - congratulations. Just the inspiration that I needed

randomjuxtaposition · 20/04/2019 21:53

Thanks @chaosisaladder and welcome to the thread. Stick with it. It's really helped lift my mood and I hope it does the same for you.

Pardalis · 20/04/2019 21:54

@gorganzolabrie - well done!!!!!

I did W3R3 tonight. Really enjoyed it. Kept running past the end run again. Might repeat tomorrow for the fun of it! Ha ha. I really do enjoy it.
Bluebells are out in the woods - they smell lovely. And I can hear the resident woodpecker every so often.
So funny, I even felt like starting running during the 5 minute brisk walk.
Next week looks tough though. However I'm sure I said that about week 3

chaosisaladder · 21/04/2019 09:34

I’m really struggling with hip pain today - I’m 28 BlushGrin has anyone else had this? I went for a long walk this morning as it’s not a run day for me. I’ve got more ‘get up and go’ at the moment which I’m enjoying

chaosisaladder · 21/04/2019 09:35

pardalis that sounds so picturesque - it’s much easier for me to keep running if my surroundings are pretty Smile

MyGastIsFlabbered · 21/04/2019 09:57

Thanks @Pardalis that's reassured me, I've got W3 to start tomorrow and am wondering how I'll ever manage it.

MissingPanda · 21/04/2019 12:57

@gorgonzolabrie congratulations. You're an inspiration to the rest of us :)

Completed wk2 r2 today. I enjoyed it even though my headphones ran out of charge part way through so I had to listen to the music from the phone instead of through the headphones.

Welcome chaosisaladder

BedraggledBlitz · 21/04/2019 21:05

Well done @gorgonzolabrie! I did w3r1 today and can't imagine running 20 minutes. BUT last week I couldn't imagine running 3 minutes and I did it today!!

Its helped a lot with my anxiety, I just focus on the moment, this is amazing for a worrier like me! Happy Easter all!

Pardalis · 21/04/2019 22:04

I repeated W3R3 today - kept running at the the end of the last 3 minute stint and now feel more confident about next week.
I cooked a roast dinner - ate loads of veg and had half a roast potato!! Did have lots of gravy!
My mum even commented that I looked like I had lost a bit of weight.
Still can't imagine running for 30 minutes but really beginning to trust in the programme.

swimmingdory · 22/04/2019 09:08

Week 2 run 1 done. It was hard today, but I did it!

chaosisaladder · 22/04/2019 10:03

Did w2r3 today - I’m scared to look ahead and see what’s next. I am enjoying the feeling of achievement when I finish.

How was week 3 overall pardalis?

MyGastIsFlabbered · 22/04/2019 10:55

Absolutely smashed this today. I really didn't think I could run for 3 minutes but I did...twice! Feeling ridiculously proud of myself.

Hi - a little late to the party but can I join?

I’m exhausted all the time and spent the weekend eating chocolate and getting puffed out running after my toddler.

Did Wk 1 Run 1 yesterday. I don’t think I’ve ever run before and about a stone and a half over weight. Desperate to find my mojo before the couch swallows me whole.

It was pretty tough and disappointed to have had to pause and collapse half way through but carried on. We are away with family in a lovely location so typing this here in the hope it helps me to continue when we are back in my slightly grim home town.

crumpet · 22/04/2019 13:11

I’m a new runner too - just finished W2R2, helped I’m sure by the beautiful weather we’ve been having, and have really enjoyed the feeling of achievement.

JPduck · 22/04/2019 14:10

Well done everyone on your achievements soo far.

Today was my first accompanied run (wk6 R1). Thankfully my dog did her business during the brisk walk. My 7yo loved it and wants to come again, the ice lolly bribery worked! Lol!
Am considering taking the dog on more runs as it wasn't as hard as I'd imagined. 🏃🏼‍♂️👧🏼🐶😊

Just done W3R2. Was really hard! It’s been a week since I did run 1 (been on hols). Still getting twanging sensation in my shins/calfs in the cooldown walk. I can’t imagine running for more than 3 minutes tbh. I’m so unfit!
