Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

Love a well timed warm down walk!

SisterFarAway · 31/07/2019 11:45

So do I :)

Not sure if it is just my pod cast, or just the Michael Johnson version, but I noticed during week three he always said the "Well done" twice, once at 30 seconds to go, once at 15 seconds after finish.

Good thing I ran on Monday, last night was absolutely horrendous, I wouldn't have wanted to run in that weather.

Well done every one for keeping going :)

AllGoodDogs · 31/07/2019 12:42

Hi all. I've started C25K this week for the 4th (I think!) time. I've completed it each time, I know it works, it's my own motivation which lets me down after a few months of completing the plan.

I took DH to get his gait analysed as he's wanting to start too, and realised my trainers were 5 years old! No idea how many miles they've done but treated myself to some Ghost 11s to replace my 7s as I've loved them. Didn't see the point in spending the extra ££ for the 12s. Really hoping it sticks this time!!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 01/08/2019 09:06

Just done W8R2. Lovely to be doing it on a cool, overcast English day. I pushed and went faster than previously (by my standards) and was pleased with that. New sports bra has to go though. Disaster Grin. Everyone is doing so well. Take care in the heat, Vagn.

Goforitgirl · 01/08/2019 09:11

W5R1 this morning and was easier than I expected. I’d heard awful things about this run so bad been a bit worried about it.

Lellochip · 03/08/2019 14:36

First fail Confused for w7r1. Didn't realise how warm it was, and body was just not cooperating.

Does anyone else track heart rate when they run? Mine was sky high today, whether this was because I was working hard or why it felt hard I don't know...

MotherOfSoupDragons · 04/08/2019 08:22

Good job that you listened to your body Lello. Don't think of it as a fail, more a sensible decision. Are you feeling ok now?

Came on to say I've done W8R2 but checking back I can see it was in fact W8R3. Hooray. Still very hard going. So glad to be done with W8. The music on the NHS app was dire and not at all helpful. Is it better in week 9?

Lellochip · 04/08/2019 09:27

Yes thanks I'm fine, I have mild asthma which is normally triggered by exercise - surprisingly the slow plod of c25k seems to be the one thing that doesn't set it off so quite pleased I made it this far without not completing a run 👍🏻

Congrats on sneaking r3 in without noticing hehe, nearly finished!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 06/08/2019 10:03

Did W9R1 this morning. Annoyingly, I have a sore ankle (tendonitis?) now. Well actually, it hadn't been right since my last run. Probably shouldn't have gone out today tbh. Hope I don't have to rest it too long.

SisterFarAway · 06/08/2019 11:42

I hope to do W9R1 tonight, no running since last week Monday so tread it a bit.
But does trying to get my niece (3) to brush her teeth and go to bed as well as wrestling my wriggly nephew (8 months) into his clothes qualify as exercise? If so I did a lot over the last few days.
To all the mums: Kudos for doing that every day - not sure I could cope.

SisterFarAway · 07/08/2019 19:40

Too tired last night, but went out tonight. To my great shame I had to walk for two minutes as I had trouble breathing properly and had terrible stitches for the first time. Only two more to go.

SunshineWalk · 07/08/2019 21:44

Hi all! I've had a couple of weeks off - holidaying in hilly Wales did not inspire me to run!

But I've done 3x 2k (practice for, and actual junior park run) since back and yesterday managed to break the 30minute mark. 30min59s to be precise! Before the holiday I was stuck at 25min runs, so really happy. Suspect I managed because I actually ran slow enough at the start!!

Not sure if I will go back to the couch to 5k app, or just aim for 30min next time and see what happens! Overall aim is to get to 5k by September(ish)!

wiltingflower · 07/08/2019 21:50

I did w6r1 today and feel fantastic! I'm so excited to have got this far- I would never have imagined that I actually enjoy running or how addictive it is.

I'm hoping to finish around the start of September but I'm going away on holiday next week and don't think I can run there which is annoying, I really want to keep this up.

Vagndidit · 08/08/2019 04:48

Hiyah gals! Glad to see you all plugging along! Still in America and I'm in a bit of a holding pattern with Week 8 runs until the weather calms down a bit. It's been about 90% humidity and temps in the 20s or torrential rainstorms when I've tried to run. Conditions aren't ideal, to say the least, and I'm anxiously looking forward to returning to the UK to make better progress on my running--but I'm managing 2-3 runs a week, despite the weather.
Good luck to you all :)

MotherOfSoupDragons · 08/08/2019 07:06

Well done everyone. I can hardly walk. I was so close to the end

Goingtoexplode · 08/08/2019 09:03

I’m on holiday and haven’t run since Sunday before I came away. It’s the 20 minute run for me next and I just haven’t managed to find the time on holiday. I’ve got major guilt. Do you think I can still go straight to 20 mins when I get home or should I repeat the 8 min runs?

Banjodancer · 08/08/2019 10:27

Goingtoexplode I'm meant to do the 20 mins run this morning, if I can get through it then you will too! If you've had a big gap I think repeating one day could be a good plan.

Banjodancer · 08/08/2019 10:29

Does anyone else find Laura a bit negative? She keeps telling me I will find something hard, but must keep going. I suppose that's realistic but think a more positive attitude might be better Confused

Banjodancer · 08/08/2019 11:24

Just blowing my own trumpet but I can't believe I've just done 20 mins! Face is like this -Angry but inside am Grin

MotherOfSoupDragons · 08/08/2019 11:26

Well done Banjo, the 20 min one is a huge achievement.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 08/08/2019 11:30

Goingtoexplode I'd probably repeat the 8 min runs at least once, but if you feel good after 8 mins you could try for 20?

Hisashiburi · 09/08/2019 12:42

I've just run for 25 mins straight for the first time in years. Was so tempted to stop though!

OopNorfDahnSarf · 10/08/2019 05:37

I'm on week 4 and I have run for a total of 16 mins. Never would have believed this was possible a few weeks ago. Took my trainers on holiday and I have run 3 times. It's a miracle.

halfgirlhalfturnip · 10/08/2019 18:00

I did my first park run today and feel quite demoralised. I was so pleased with my progress and think I may have come in 497/500 today - results delayed! Think I will keep training and try again in a month 😢

SisterFarAway · 11/08/2019 19:41

And just like that I only have one run left.

Two days later than intended I did W9R2, felt really good afterwards but the first 20 minutes felt never ending, the last 10 just flew by.

I will probably keep on listening to the W9 podcast for a few more weeks just to keep me at 30 minutes before I go to Parkrun
