Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

How's everyone getting on this week? I've had 2 days off and am due to do W6R2 tomorrow. I've felt very lethargic for the last 2 days and have hardly moved so it will be interesting to see how I get on. And it's raining.

Goforitgirl · 17/07/2019 18:46

W3R1 for me tomorrow. Someone tell me I can do it! Just can’t imagine DOUBLING how much I’m running.

Hope everyone is doing well this week Grin

Bumblebeemee · 17/07/2019 19:23

Jumping in for support Blush I started in May last year in an effort to lose weight for my wedding. I was so impressed with myself as I really put the effort in and got to week 6 run 2 but the heatwave hit, I missed a few days, turned into a few weeks...

So now the wedding is over with and the honeymoon is approaching in a couple of months. I’ve managed to put back on almost all the weight I lost before the wedding in the space of 8 weeks so I need to move! Jumped back in at week 4 and it was killer so back to week 3 and have managed run 1 and 3 this week. Hoping you ladies will keep me motivated to get to the end this time!

SisterFarAway · 17/07/2019 19:35

W8R1 tonight, it went better than I thought it would, the last few minutes I found really easy, but in all fairness - I was running downhill.

Got a few insect bites tonight, though.

W8R2 planned for Saturday morning or possibly Friday evening. Going away for work on Sunday, so might not get running while there. Hope to finish C25K by 30th July, it's going to be tight.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 18/07/2019 08:47

Goforitgirl you can definitely do this, though I can only speak for up to week 6. Just done W6R2. God it was hard. Am wondering if my limit will be 20 mins and I'm not meant to achieve 30mins/5K. Someone up thread said they found W6 hard. Will go back and see who it was and where they're up to now.

Goforitgirl · 18/07/2019 09:16

Well done on the 20 mins! That’s absolutely fantastic!

My 3 min runs were ok actually. Kind of looking forward to Saturday to see if it feels a bit easier.

Still having a lot of pain in my thighs to the point I’m taking painkillers at least once a day for them. I haven’t been taking a rest day - I’ve been walking on the rest days so wonder if my legs just need a proper rest for a day. I was thinking about trying some yoga in the house on my rest day instead.

SuperPixie247 · 18/07/2019 11:47

Wow it's been almost a month since I last posted here, so much has moved on!

Congrats to all those who have "graduated" and good luck to everyone else!

I'm currently on W4R3 and its steady away. I noticed a few of you mention W5R3 so I had a look Shock It's crazy to think that's only a week away ShockShock

MotherOfSoupDragons · 18/07/2019 12:35

GFIgirl, do you do stretches after your runs? Might be worth a try. I swear by them. Would have thought walking on rest days would be a good thing, unless you're doing strenuous hiking.

GroovieGazelloo · 19/07/2019 13:49

Hi All. I'm new on this thread and am doing my 2nd day of week 1. Eventually I'd like to combine this with 5:2 and lose more weight. But, right now, my aim is to enjoy progressing into getting fitter. Smile

MotherOfSoupDragons · 20/07/2019 08:28

Have done W6R3. It would not have been possible to do it any slower. I managed to up the speed a tiny bit for the last few minutes though. This morning I saw long horned cattle, a buzzard, dogs, swans, rowers and a young guy fishing.

Goforitgirl · 20/07/2019 08:29

Morning all! W3R2 today and tried some stretching after so hopefully I won’t be as sore! Thanks for the tip on that one.

I changed from Michael to Laura but wasn’t overly happy when he started booming over my podcast Angry

Goforitgirl · 20/07/2019 08:30

@MotherOfSoupDragons I love the wildlife I see in the mornings!! I feel so lucky to see it. So far a heron, 3 deer, a fox and a bunny Smile

MotherOfSoupDragons · 20/07/2019 08:48

Ooh lovely GfiGirl. Hope the stretches help. I've seen a heron a couple of times. Wonderful. Congrats on getting started Groovie and nice to see you back Pixie.

GroovieGazelloo · 20/07/2019 11:26

Thankyou for the welcome Motherof SoupDragons.

Vagndidit · 20/07/2019 19:14

Go going to everyone keeping up the momentum. You're all a fantastic inspiration. :)

I hit a slump on this week's R2 the other day, a combination of humid weather and feeling a bit poorly because of a cold, I fell short of finishing. So I reran W7R2 this morning with greater success. Bracing myself for an extended trip home to America next week and worried about how I'll handle the heat and running environment there. I've made good progress and I'd like to keep it up!

OopNorfDahnSarf · 21/07/2019 08:48

Hi everyone. On W3 here. Think I am going to repeat it as I feel really out of breath after the 3 min run. Re the aching inner thighs - look up adductor stretches - they really helped me.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 22/07/2019 09:16

Nothing wrong in repeating weeks, or you could try going slower maybe.

Did W7R1 this morning. Pace was a real slow crawl. It was getting hot even at 8am and I needed my inhaler. Annoyingly, I had to adjust my armband and the podcast went back to the beginning so I had to use my watch.

Can't wait till I can listen to my own music, it will be more motivating. Haven't managed to play spotify while still keeping Laura's bits.

Goforitgirl · 22/07/2019 11:23

@OopNorfDahnSarf I will look up those stretches thanks!

Everyone is doing fantastically. Well done. We should all be proud.

W3R3 this week for me. I think this is possibly the furthest into the programme I’ve got so far. I always used to go at night when I felt really self conscious about people sitting in their houses and seeing me or drivers passing me, dog walkers etc. So id invariably come up with excuses not to go - weather etc. Now I go early morning and it’s perfect!

I’m really looking forward to week 4 but again thinking how on earth will I manage the leap from 3 to 5. I know I will though.

Well done again everyone!

GroovieGazelloo · 22/07/2019 15:11

Great work everyone. I'll also be starting on week 4 next Goforitgirl. I have done a lot of walking over the last few months and so decided to cover the stages without having rest days. The jump from 3 to 5 is scaring me too. But, I'm a bit excited about doing it too. 😅

SuperPixie247 · 22/07/2019 15:24

27 degrees or so here in West Yorks but managed to do W5R1 and feel great for it!

I get such an endorphin rush after I have had a run...anyone else?!

Mammyloveswine · 22/07/2019 15:53

Hi everyone! In on week 3 run 2 and actually really enjoying it!

Surprised I can run 3 minutes without stopping...can't ever imagine doing 20 though!

GroovieGazelloo · 23/07/2019 11:34

Hello Everyone,
Just done first day of week 4. Really enjoyed it. And yes, I really agree about the endorphin rush. It's a surprise for me- a lovely one too. Smile

MotherOfSoupDragons · 23/07/2019 11:54

I love the feeling I get post run when I'm doing my stretches. Wouldnt exactly call it an endorphin rush though Grin.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 23/07/2019 11:56

Take care in the heat, people. It's hot out there.

Teaandchocolatecake · 23/07/2019 13:37

MotherOSD. I’m uaing Michael Johnson and can listen to Spotify at the same time. The music volume decreases when he has something to say!

I can’t run in the heat. I try but I always end up walking for a few minutes. I’m still persevering but I need clouds and a breeze for a good run!
