Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

I've seen a few people say they listen to their own music. How do you do that while also running the c25k app?

Needtomovemore · 10/07/2019 06:30

I know! Will see how I feel as I go. I’m just really bad for getting too used to rest days and not starting again. Might just go a walk on rest days so I’m still getting up early.

I just play mine and it automatically works. I think they lower the music volume when they speak on the app. I use Spotify. What are you using?

Teaandchocolatecake · 10/07/2019 07:12

MotherOfSoupDragons

I’m using the NHS C25K app. I run Strava at the same time to record distance and use Spotify for music. The app still works, it quietens the music slightly when it cuts in so you can still hear it.

I find music helps, I tell myself at the beginning how many songs long the run is. 5/6 songs sounds shorter than 25 minutes!

Needtomovemore · 10/07/2019 07:29

Teaandchocolatecake

Totally agree with you! I dropped my earbud and smashed it yesterday so had no music today and really struggled even though I’m only doing the one minute runs just now. Must try and pick up new ones today. Music definitely motivates.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 10/07/2019 07:51

I've got Spotify. Will do a trial in the kitchen.

W7R1 this morning, god was I slow but I saw it through.

Has anyone done a morning run one day and an evening run the day after? I know you're supposed to rest for a day, but I'd roughly have the same "rest time" between those two runs as I had between Mondeay night and this morning.

TheFurryMenace · 10/07/2019 20:28

Can anyone please link to the celeb's doing the voices for the podcasts please? I cant seem to find them on the web. I have lovely Laura, but Im just about to start week 9, and wouldnt mind trying someone else after that. Also, does anyone know if the music is different? I found the music with Laura a bit dull.

Thanks in advance.

AngeliqueDePeyrac · 10/07/2019 21:44

W1R2 just done! It was tougher than Monday, legs still aching a bit and probably a bit too late really but had things on today. At least I did it!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 11/07/2019 08:54

Did W5R2 today. I was wheezy and drank too much water beforehand so had reflux as well. Finished it but didn't enjoy it that much. Run of doom on Saturday.

Angelique I found it took me longer to recover in the first few weeks, and time of day makes a big difference.

Needtomovemore · 11/07/2019 09:12

Well done everyone!!

First run of week 2 for me tomorrow. So nervous about the 90 seconds.

SisterFarAway · 11/07/2019 10:09

You can do it :)

Vagndidit · 11/07/2019 11:21

After the high of managing the dreaded W5R3 last week, I'm finding Week 6 really tough going, despite being back to run/rest intervals for the first 2 runs. Run 3 of week 6 looks like another mental hurdle--23 mins nonstop. Eek! Will tackle on Saturday...

MotherOfSoupDragons · 11/07/2019 11:43

Well done Vagn. It is hard. You're leading the way for me Grin

Sharpkat · 11/07/2019 16:30

@Vagndidit my next one is w6d3 but I probably cannot fit it in until Monday so am worried that I will really struggle. Have done four consecutive days already this week and normally swim on a Friday morning and then go to boot camp on Saturday and Sunday mornings and I am one of those people who can only do this programme first thing.

Let me know how it goes. I will be thinking of you and willing you round.

Vagndidit · 11/07/2019 17:12

Good luck you as well, Sharp and Mother! Keep on truckin' ;)

MotherOfSoupDragons · 13/07/2019 08:24

Have just done W5R3. Am so chuffed. I started so slowly I was more bobbing up and down than moving forward but I did it. Half way through my cool down walk i even felt as if i could run a few more minutes. Didn't though. One more normal week to hopefully do W6 before holidays start to make things more complicated. Good luck Vagndidit and anyone else going out today.

Candleabra · 13/07/2019 10:23

Well done everyone. I have done two of the w9 runs this week. I also found week 6 an absolute killer, it definitely is the come down after the euphoria of running for twenty whole minutes at the end of week 5. Just keep going with the programme. I did my second park run this morning and ran the whole way. I was struggling to run for 60 seconds 10 weeks ago. Keep the faith.

Vagndidit · 13/07/2019 11:27

Well done to you Mother and everyone else making strides this week.

I am proud to say I managed W6R3 this morning. 25 minutes of non-stop running(!!). How the hell did I get here?? I tailwalked/jogged (with DH) my way through a parkrun only a month and a half ago, and it took me over 50 minutes because I couldn't run more than a minute at a time.

yayayayaya · 13/07/2019 15:07

Just a walk day for me today as it’s rest day and wanted to measure out a new route. I think with a few tweaks it could be the length I need. At the moment I’m doubling back on myself and would much rather a loop!

Well done to everyone who ran today Grin

SisterFarAway · 13/07/2019 19:33

W7R2 this morning, had to walk at one point for just about a minute as I suddenly found myself very close to some stags and I didn't want to startle them lest they come charging at me. Once they knew I didn't mean harm, they continued grazing.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 15/07/2019 09:09

W6R1 today. Think it was a good idea to reduce run length to consolidate. Am going away in a week or so. Has anyone alternated between outside running and using a treadmill? Think there will be one in the hotel gym. It will be too hot to run outside. Not sure how I'll handle it.

Vagndidit · 15/07/2019 10:38

W7R1 done! Looks like from here on out it's nonstop running for 25-30 minutes for the remainder of the program. Beginning to believe the finish line is in sight... 😮

SisterFarAway · 15/07/2019 19:32

W7 done :) Today was definitely not my day, already felt a bit meh when I went out, around 7 minutes my calves started complaining (they usually do) and didn't stop (they usually do), but I managed to persevere.
On the cool down walk I had to make way for some mountain bikers who nearly ran me over and managed to step into some stinging nettle.
Came home, had a shower and somehow cut myself on my hip with the razor - I only wanted to get it behind my back to wash it out, something I must have done hundreds of times. It's only a graze, just a 15cm long one.
I think for the rest of today, I'll just not move from the sofa for health and safety purposes until I have to go to bed.

W8R1 planned for Wednesday :)

Goforitgirl · 16/07/2019 06:04

W2R3 for me and my inner thighs are really achey, it’s almost like a period pain Sad

MotherOfSoupDragons · 16/07/2019 15:26

Ouch. It's weird how people feel it in different places. I've got a sore spot on the outside of my right ankle. No bruise but it's been sore for weeks.
