Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

Hi all, I'm an occasional lurker on this thread and have just completed w5r2 so I have the dreaded 20 minute run next time. I did c25k years ago and failed on that run, completely buggering up my knees. I've just notice on the nhs website their strength and flex programme - has anyone followed it?

wiltingflower · 07/07/2019 18:05

I've worked my way to W4R1 and am hoping to do W4R2 either tonight or tomorrow. I think I have got much fitter and climbing the stairs at work doesn't puff me out as much!

Needtomovemore · 07/07/2019 22:32

Anyone just starting or restarting? Would love a buddy at the same stage to check in with.

Really want to force myself to get up and go early. I hate running when people can see me but don’t feel overly comfortable running in the dark so thought super early after sunrise but before it gets busy would be a great time to go.

lemonbalmtea · 08/07/2019 00:13

I'm just starting C25k, can I join you? On week two next week. Signing up for a 5k run in September.

Needtomovemore · 08/07/2019 06:58

First run done! Mortified I had to say good morning to two people with my shiny red face so must go earlier tomorrow in the hope I don’t see anymore Grin

MotherOfSoupDragons · 08/07/2019 10:50

Did W5R1 today. Hayfever is making me wheezy. Will stuff my inhaler in my bra on Thursday in case I need it. Taking comfort and inspiration from those who have managed the run of doom (W5R3). Welcome to those who have just started.

Sharpkat · 08/07/2019 13:47

W5D2 done so the 20 minute one tomorrow. Not sure how that will go.

Welcome to anyone just starting out and well done to everyone else!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 08/07/2019 17:15

Will be watching for an update Sharkat. You WILL do it. Go get 'em.

AlmaWhittaker · 08/07/2019 17:20

I lost this thread and couldn't find it and today I happened upon it. Have made it all the way through and am thrilled with myself. Like curls I don't really want to do anything specific apart from run for a half an hour a couple of days a week. Also I'm not at 5K but somewhere at 4.something which is great! Good luck to anyone starting out or in the middle where the shine has worn off a bit. It's definitely worth it Smile

SisterFarAway · 08/07/2019 18:59

I have just done W6R3 and am officially a runner Grin

At first I thought I'll never make the 25 minutes but I did, and honestly, I could've run another five. I felt really, really good. To think I didn't really want to go out again when I came home from work. So glad I did.

WFH on Wednesday so W7R1 planned for early morning :)

MotherOfSoupDragons · 08/07/2019 20:12

Congratulations SFA. That's brilliant Flowers

AngeliqueDePeyrac · 08/07/2019 21:47

Can I join you all please? Just done my first run tonight and felt great after. I have run before but not since my 12yo was born so hoping to get fit again and help my wellbeing along the way. Well done everyone so far you are all doing amazingly!

AlmaWhittaker · 09/07/2019 08:25

@AngeliqueDePeyrac well done for starting Grin it's such a brilliant feeling isn't it? My only advice is to take it really slowly and not move to the next week until you're comfortable. I did it every 2nd day for the first few weeks but started taking 2, then 3 days rest in between runs by the end. Good running!

Needtomovemore · 09/07/2019 08:42

Second run done this morning! Really hoping I manage to stick with this.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 09/07/2019 14:23

Welp done Needto. You can definitely do it.

Sharpkat · 09/07/2019 19:48

W5D3 done!!! That psychological barrier is now over.

Keep going everyone. It really does work.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 09/07/2019 20:09

Well done Sharpkat. How was it?

SisterFarAway · 09/07/2019 20:25

Well done Sharpkat :)

Needtomovemore · 09/07/2019 21:04

This thread is so motivational btw! I read through it all earlier. Well done all of you.

Any recommendations for an app to track route and calories burned? I don’t have a tracker for my wrist.

JPduck · 09/07/2019 21:09

@Needtomovemore - I use strava for route, paid version may do calories I only use free bit 🙃

Sharpkat · 09/07/2019 21:35

Thanks everyone. I actually enjoyed it! Never thought I could do it. I was listening to "They live in you" from the Lion King album towards the end Blush and was almost dancing along. I might just put that on repeat for the next time. It has such a good beat and makes me wiggle my head!!

Week 7 run 3 ✅
So so so chuffed - I love the plan - not sure I love running, but I don't hate it..

Needtomovemore · 10/07/2019 06:10

W1R3 done! I’m running every day (naughty I know) and don’t know whether to keep repeating this for a couple of days or move onto week 2.

Thanks for the app recommendation!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 10/07/2019 06:23

You're supposed to rest a day between runs. Not doing that might be a problem as you get further into the programme.
