Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

Well done Alma !

And thanks guys for the support for my friend, she’ll be there supporting me when I get to that stage, so it means a lot to both of us.

W4R2 today. Bit of a miscommunication between me and my friend meant I didn’t get out there as early as I’d wanted, it would have been so easy to sack it off, but I went and did it so I’m happy.

Pardalis · 02/05/2019 20:40

Hi new people!!!

I just did W5R2. Kept going at the end up to 15 mins. I can do the 20 !!!

I will be braving it on Saturday

Fazackerley · 02/05/2019 22:27

Hi all. I've done 2 x 25 min runs now and I much prefer them to the stop start earlier weeks. I run very slowly, more of a shuffle than a run really, but I can happily keep going as long as I am listening to a good podcast or play! Parkrun on sat morning, planning to do the warm up walk (5 mins) then 25 mins jog then 5 min cool down then run the last bit. Fingers crossed!

sukiandthekettle · 02/05/2019 23:09

@JPduck Thanks so much for that encouragement! I'm working all weekend so will try and fit my W6R2 in somewhere Sat - hopefully I'll enjoy it more that W6R1 but I'll prepare myself not to and still try and forge on regardless! Smile

CognitiveDissonance · 03/05/2019 06:09

Hi Everyone! I've just come back from W4R3. So pleased with myself and genuinely enjoying this whole process. I'm a little intimidated by W5 though! 5 + 6 + 5! I can do I though, I'm sure 😊

swimmingdory · 03/05/2019 07:19

Well done everyone. Just finished week 3. Am on a treadmill so put a 2 incline on today to try and resemble an outdoor run. Was a bit tougher (but my diet has been beyond awful this week too) but I did it! Week 4 next.

sanityisamyth · 03/05/2019 09:28

Struggling with motivation for W5R2. 8 minutes sounds a very long time. Can't even begin to contemplate the 20 minute run on the next session 😱😱😱

sanityisamyth · 03/05/2019 10:23

Back from today's run. Was going well until my headphones cut out (they haven't appreciated going through the washing machine) so lost music but it also paused the workout so have no idea how far I went on the first run. I fast forwarded it a bit. Supposed to have been 8 minutes. I think I did about that. Sorted the headphones out during the walk phase and finished the rest of the session so I know I did an 8 minute run at the end. Exhausted is not the word but I did it!!! 👏👏👏

Electrocute1980 · 03/05/2019 10:40

Hi everyone! Week 1 is in the bag! Just back from W1R3, the sun is shining (though it's bloody cold!) and I feel awesome! Well done everyone else who is running today Smile

Electrocute1980 · 03/05/2019 10:40

@sanityisamyth you can do it!!

Electrocute1980 · 03/05/2019 10:41

Ah just saw your update - that's fab!

sanityisamyth · 03/05/2019 10:53

Thanks @Electrocute1980 ☺️ well done to you too! Running in the cold is definitely more manageable than in the heat. Well timed!

Candleabra · 03/05/2019 11:19

@electrocute1980 I'm on the same schedule as you, just finished week 1 this morning. I'm do proud of myself, I haven't run since school!!

AlmaWhittaker · 03/05/2019 16:04

Well done all today's runners 👍 I'm actually looking forward to my second run tomorrow

Coldandfrosty · 03/05/2019 23:08

Hello all Grin just came on to say well done. C25k really does work. I started in Jan and now regularly do parkruns and have joined a running club. It is surreal.

Stick with it. It is possible. I never ever ever thought I would be a "runner"

Have just set my alarm for 7am to get up and drive for an hour tomo morn to try a new parkrun by the beach.

somersetmum2018 · 04/05/2019 07:39

About to do W1R1 - as soon as the baby wakes up from where he’s fallen fast asleep on me! Wish me luck...

JPduck · 04/05/2019 07:58

Good luck @somersetmum2018 - you can do it!

AlmaWhittaker · 04/05/2019 08:26

Good luck Somerset. Exciting times

eternalopt · 04/05/2019 10:24

Thinking about getting started on this but need to kit myself up. Any tips for reasonably priced leggings that actually stay up? Don't want to spend too much so went to sports direct but all the cheap US pro ones fell down below the muffin top just on a jog round the changing room!! Matalan ones look reasonable but are they any good?

Pardalis · 04/05/2019 11:00

@eternalopt
I bought the Primark ones. They do the job just fine.
I'm off out later for the 20 min run! Feeling positive about it 😊

MissingPanda · 04/05/2019 11:01

Good luck @somersetmum2018

@eternalopt I wear running leggings from M&S. They have a drawstring waist which helps keep them up.

Completed wk4 r1 today. The first 5 min run seemed especially long but I don't think it helped that part of it was uphill. On the bright side what goes up must come down and I enjoyed the down hill bit Grin So much so that I opted for a (different) path that also goes up on my second 3 min run so I could run downhill again 😂 The second 5 min run felt easier and I completed the run so feeling pleased with myself. I might do an extra run on this week again, mainly because I have two more runs then I have 3 days where I won't be able to run so an extra one, after the three days off should set me up for wk5.

Well done to all who have completed their runs successfully. Don't give up if anyone has trouble with a week. Just keep going until you feel comfortable enough to proceed to the next week.

Fazackerley · 04/05/2019 12:34

I bought some running tights from decathlon and I love them so much I've just bought a second pair!

somersetmum2018 · 04/05/2019 12:58

First one done! Got a stitch 2 minutes into the warm-up walk Blush Hadn’t realised how unfit I really am. Good luck to everyone running today!

Fazackerley · 04/05/2019 13:13

I did parkrun this morning and I really recommend it for new runners. Once you are at about week 5 then just do your normal c25k run/walk including the warm ups and cool downs then jog and walk to the end.

I am on week 7 so I walked the first 5 mins, jogged for 25, walked for 5 then jogged the rest of the way. Finished in 41 mins. My goal for next week as as near to 40 as possible!

WineCheeseSleep · 04/05/2019 16:48

Did W2R2 today, it was quite hard work but doable. Didn't help that the app crashed during my penultimate run without me realising so don't know how long that run ended up being!
