Hello to anyone who wants to join me over here Smile

A few of us tagged onto the end of the new year/new you c25k gang but they were already at the end or had finished and so perhaps it is best for us to have a new one to discuss our newbie woes, aches and pains?

I’m at the beginning of week 3. Just been out again today, I should’ve done W3R2 but repeated w3r1 instead as I wasn’t comfortable last time, I think I took it too fast. Plus, it is ruddy boiling here today! It went much better and i’ll move on to w3r2 on Sunday.

Please join me, say hi and let us know where you are on the programme and update us on how you’re finding it.

Welcome to the club @Electrocute1980

I had severe doubts I could manage W4R1 today but completely smashed it. If you'd told me 4 weeks ago that I could run for 5 minutes straight I'd have laughed at you! But I did it...twice!

I've actually had the feel good endorphins buzzing around this evening which has never happened after exercise. I'm starting to see why running is addictive.

sanityisamyth · 29/04/2019 20:41

I'm starting W5 tomorrow. Dreading how steeply it seems to increase in duration.

MyGastIsFlabbered · 29/04/2019 20:52

I felt the same going from W3 to W4 but I smashed it tonight.

Electrocute1980 · 30/04/2019 14:26

Thank you! Looking forward to W1R2 tomorrow afternoon.

Anyone got recommendations for long running tops to cover the bum area a bit?

MyGastIsFlabbered · 30/04/2019 15:43

I've got this one and it's a nice length (bearing in mind I'm a 5ft 0 short area!)

Electrocute1980 · 30/04/2019 16:35

Just what I'm looking for, thanks - I'm 5ft 2 so that would do nicely! How is the sizing? I'm usually a 14-16 (big boobs!)

sanityisamyth · 30/04/2019 16:50

Smashed W5R1 this morning. Managed to sort my breathing out. Breathing through my nose and out of my mouth seemed to help and got deeper breathes and less panting. Definitely felt like I wasn't quite so breathless.

Dreading 8 minutes straight next run and dreading 20 minutes straight even more!!! Please tell me it's actually manageable?!

Magnificentbeast · 30/04/2019 17:28

I'm planning to start C25K again. I've had a couple of attempts at it. The furthest I got was week 5's 20 minute run. I completed that and was so chuffed. I was also really disappointed to not to complete the plan afterwards due to a chest infection.

Anyway, it feels like a good time to start again. What time of day do you all fit in your running?

I can only really do early mornings due to childcare. I'm fine once I'm up but the getting up can be a real stumbling block. I'm only just starting to get full nights' sleep now that my formerly sleep resistant dc is sleeping through. Any tips for motivation to jump out of bed at 5.30 am would be much appreciated!

MyGastIsFlabbered · 30/04/2019 17:57

@Electrocute1980 I think I got extra large. I'm a 14-16 and it fits fine. I'm just not used to skin tight Lycra Shock

WineCheeseSleep · 30/04/2019 18:11

I did W2R1 today and it was great! I was staying in a hotel in London and went for my run in a lovely local park, would never have seen it if I wasn't running Smile

Pardalis · 30/04/2019 20:33

I've just done W5R1. Been having a big mental block about the 20 minute run for run 3 this week.
So for the last run today I kept going all the way through the 5 minute warm down walk. It was fine! Has made me feel much better.
I reckon I can do run 3 and feeling super positive about run 2

sanityisamyth · 30/04/2019 20:44

I'm impressed @Pardalis!! I definitely couldn't have run anymore than the last 5 mins today.

Pardalis · 30/04/2019 20:50

@sanityisamyth - I'm not going fast!😂😂😂

sanityisamyth · 30/04/2019 20:52

@Pardalis ohhhh neither do I!!! Although I was quite impressed on Saturday when I overtook a very old man who was walking. Only just overtook him, mind 🤣🤣🤣

JPduck · 30/04/2019 20:54

You can do it @Pardalis
Im trying to break my wk6 plateau. Weird how you do a constant 20 on wk 5 and then find going back interval runs hard!

Pardalis · 30/04/2019 21:37

@sanityisamyth - I do get worried when I see a walker ahead. I'm convinced their walking is going to be faster than my running!

AlmaWhittaker · 30/04/2019 21:50

I just started reading the thread today and you've all persuaded me to get started on this. I started a few years ago and don't remember what happened in the end. I have runners and feel like going out tomorrow Grin. So I've downloaded the app but how can I carry my phone? Do you wear those armbands?

Pardalis · 30/04/2019 22:34

@AlmaWhittaker - go for it!
I wear an armband for my phone. I also take water. Mainly in case I get attacked in the woods so I can hit them with it 😀

AlmaWhittaker · 30/04/2019 22:39

@Pardalis haha the water bottle 😁 Thanks for the encouragement. Am also browsing belts for waist, mmm. Keys, water, phone...

MyGastIsFlabbered · 30/04/2019 22:41

I've got a belt that my phone goes into. Really hoping my ankle feels happier tomorrow.

BedraggledBlitz · 30/04/2019 23:35

I got an armband thing. And bluetooth headphones. I've not splashed out on clothes, opting to wear pj bottoms that look like joggers. Classy eh?

I quite want a grippy bottle thing but don't want it to slow me down Grin

sanityisamyth · 01/05/2019 04:44

I stuff my phone into my sports bra as my headphone cable doesn't annoy me then. I wear a thin zipped hoodie so the headphones are tidy. Is this a good enough reason to get wireless ones?!

chaosisaladder · 01/05/2019 05:49

I attempted w4r1 yesterday but had a banging headache and my calves were not playing the game... so I managed all but the last 5 minute run. Will try again tomorrow. I like posting here because it keeps me accountable!

My run yesterday was in the afternoon and I really don’t feel like that suits me. When does everyone else run?

swimmingdory · 01/05/2019 06:52

Week 3 run 2 done. Was ok 👍🏻

sanityisamyth · 01/05/2019 07:01

On Tuesday and Thursday I run after DS is on the school bus so between 8 and 8.30am. On Saturday I run as soon as I get up. If I don't go early I'll dread it all day and think of excuses not to go. If I go early then I feel like I've achieved something already!!
