Hi lovelies! I was just about to join the running thread and saw it was almost full and couldn’t find another
I’ve copied below from the last thread and I hope you don’t mind me joining you all!

This is the 12th thread since it started with a few of us who wanted to chat about our running, running clothes, support each other and get some training tips.

We talk about our runs and support and encourage where needed.

Please feel free to come and join us and add your miles to our running total for the month for the whole thread in bold at the bottom of each post.
Currently on 10.2 for September

Best wishes

I paid a bit and got some in the Nike sale. They have a pocket for my phone on my leg, are high waisted and are fabulous for running in. The last Nike pair I had lasted 10 years (and then I lost weight and that's the only reason I don't wear them now) so I see them as a good investment! I have some cheaper ones I got online but they are already wearing a bit thin though I don't mind that for the price!

DaffoDeffo · 17/02/2019 13:45

thenewwave that's an amazing time!

TriSkiRun99 · 17/02/2019 19:07

Lidls have “fitness” leggings next week not sure if they running ones though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/02/2019 19:51

Brilliant tri, thank you! Is that from Thursday?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/02/2019 19:55

Just googled, looks like it's from Sunday 24th

FATEdestiny · 17/02/2019 20:31

Is everyone else's Facebook feed full of distraught Strava users? Apparently there's been an all day outage and servers are down.

BusterTheBulldog · 17/02/2019 21:23

I am one of those gutted strava users fate, it’s basically become a social network for runners, I did a 30km race today with my running club and did quite well, I’m GUTTED it’s not on there so I can pore over mine and everyone else results! You can also watch flybys back of the race to see who you passed / passed you etc safe to say I’m officially addicted! I can see my time / splits in garmin but it’s just not the same! 😂

I’ve got Nike and 2xu and both contain my big bum nicely and stay up, bit pricier but worth it. You can sometime pick up 2xu in txmaxx for bargain prices.

Well done thenewaverage! Great work!

I’m a smug Fitbit user as well.
Don’t get me started on running clothing though. As well as the leggings issue my other bug bear is tops. All my vest tops are shaped with elastic so they fit over my (curvy) bum and don’t ride up. But trying to get short sleeved tops that aren’t square, box shape is a nightmare. They end up riding up if I have a jacket over the top or I end up with a draught around my middle.
And as for colours. Why if it is practical and fits it is black and/or pink? But if it comes in different colours it is not so practical and more made for ‘fashion‘ wear than exercise.
Rant over GrinGrin

TriSkiRun99 · 18/02/2019 16:11

I hear you run4me I am of the —massive— larger chest build but with a bra band & shock absorber can run reasonable comfortabley but ended up buying a mans run jacket the other day (it was cheap) to fit my chest & had to take 15cm off the sleeve lengthGrin luckily I’m handy with sewing machine. Vest tops just don’t cover me I found this summer Hmm they had big arm holes (what’s that about?!) enough for half a boob to escape out😂.... don’t get me started on swimming costumes either as obviously big boobed ladies don’t “do” proper swimming either...
I’ve got halfterm cabin fever already today as Monday is usually my long run day but couldn’t go today, but think my youngest is happy to cycle tom so we may attempt a 10k ...what could possibly go wrong Grin —multiple stops, lots sweets, frustrated mummy—

TriSkiRun99 · 18/02/2019 16:12

Arrh strike out fail too.

emummy · 19/02/2019 12:40

TriSkiRun the vests from RunMummyRun are tighter around the arms if you want to take a look.

Well done for Sunday, thenew - your old 10k PB is just about my current one! I'd love to get back there eventually, but I'm currently way to heavy and not putting in enough miles. My goal for May at the moment is just to finish without walking.

I'm planning 6k tonight, maybe a tiny bit further. Will be dicking about on MapMyRun to plan a route this afternoon while my boss isn't lookingSmile

TriSkiRun99 · 19/02/2019 14:23

Thanks emummy I’ll take a look.

Managed a 10k with my 7yr old on her bike, it took 2hrs with a park stop & snack breaks but it was a lovely day for it. Just gotta clean the dog crap off her trainer soles now Sad she ran in it in the kids playpark grrrrr!

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 20/02/2019 10:35

Oh yuck, TriSkiRun! It's always so tempting just to burn themSmile

I was really pleased with last night's 6k - it was slow and steady as planned, but my heart rate was well under control throughout and it felt easy and comfortable. I was pondering as I finished with plenty in the tank that I could probably make it round 10k OK now. I'm not going to try it (much as I'd love to) because I'm too scared of breaking another bit of me if I go too far too soon so I'll stick to the gentle build up. But it is tempting! And I'm really looking forward to Sunday's 7k along the river now!

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 21/02/2019 12:12

Took advantage of working from home to sneak in 5k on my way home from nursery drop off. Tried a new route that worked very well - I expect it will become a regular one.

Nice run today. Mostly off road so the dog was happy too

Nice earlish 10k as DH had day off so I could have a child free hour Smile I always look forward to HT with the kids but crave some alone time after I’ve reached mid-week & going back to work starts to look easier Grin. I’ve added yesterday’s miles on to the running total as well.

I'm very very nervous about tomorrow, is that normal or am I just being a muppet?! Annoyingly, what I normally do to calm my nerves is to run, and I'm not going to, so instead I've eaten lots of biscuits and now I'm worried that I'll have made it difficult for myself. I know I'm being an idiot.

emummy · 23/02/2019 17:55

It's totally normal to be nervous about something that matters to you! I'm sure your body will metabolise the biscuits in plenty of time! Good luck, I hope you have a fabulous day!

emummy · 23/02/2019 17:56

Forgot to add my run checking the parkrun course before my RD stint today!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/02/2019 18:04

you'll be totally awesome thenewaveragebear.

DaffoDeffo · 23/02/2019 19:00

Did a 10km in 2 parts. My first one. Second half was much faster than first half funnily enough. I think I get in a zone! Still find it amazing that a year ago I couldn't run a km!

Hi all I've just found this thread and wonder if anyone has advice on dealing with a runny nose while running, I don't want to have to faff about with tissues or carry them but I'm pretty sure wiping your nose on your sleeve isnt the done thing at 44!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/02/2019 20:14

On I have to carry tissues, I tuck a few into my bra and carry extras in my bumbag. It's not exactly glamorous but it's necessary!
