Hi lovelies! I was just about to join the running thread and saw it was almost full and couldn’t find another
I’ve copied below from the last thread and I hope you don’t mind me joining you all!

This is the 12th thread since it started with a few of us who wanted to chat about our running, running clothes, support each other and get some training tips.

We talk about our runs and support and encourage where needed.

Please feel free to come and join us and add your miles to our running total for the month for the whole thread in bold at the bottom of each post.
Currently on 10.2 for September

Best wishes

I will do :( it's funny how it takes will power to stop yourself running when in the beginning it takes will power to get going. I compromised, wrapped up well and went for a very gentle walk in the sunshine.
I'm rubbish at resting. I expect many of us here are.

TriSkiRun99 · 28/01/2019 13:53

Oh get well soon kitten you will feel better for it, even if it sucks at the time.

Well done those running in the wind at the weekend it was brutal ere I took my youngest swimming & we could only just get the car door open it was blowing a huleee here.

Just did my long run after a Pilates class, but with the wind and heavy legs I cut it bit short to 12.5k from my planned 16k/10m still a very cold energy sapping wind here.
Sorry I couldn’t “see” the running total on my phone to add my miles on.

TriSkiRun99 · 28/01/2019 13:54

Rest I meant kitten doh!

emummy · 29/01/2019 12:17

Tempo run this morning. No further snow here since Sunday, so just a lovely mix of slush, snow and ice. It also rained a lot on Sunday so there are huge frozen puddles right across some of the paths which slowed me down a bit! Felt good though thanks to a better night of sleep with only one hot flush.

816.8 including TriSkiRun's.

emummy · 30/01/2019 10:52

To & from boot camp in the snow & bright sunshine. Beautiful morning.

Hope you’re feeling better OYBK?

7.5 at club run last night and 5.5 of intervals today. I’m still ‘not right’ but feeling a tiny bit of speed returning lately.

Those of you that run regularly in snow / ice- how do you do it? I have no choice of at least a couple of miles on pavements each run, do you just be brave and stride out on to it? I’m never sure what is best! It’s that horrible I’ve here so not enough for trail shoes but enough to send me flying with one misstep Sad

*its that horrrible frosty ice here - that should say!

IRun4Me · 30/01/2019 19:00

Still doing the running everyday January and hit 100 miles since the beginning of the month.
We had snow overnight but it was really icy this morning so delayed my run. I can run in snow, sleet, rain but don’t like ice - I only have to look at it and fall over.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/01/2019 21:21

I am thanks Buster :) I've managed a run today. It was on glazed pavements and it was a bit hair raising. Slow too, partly out of sheer terror!

Friday might be a bit impossible with the current forecast. Watch out those in Wales, the SW, central areas and maybe the SE.

FATEdestiny · 31/01/2019 11:51

Stunning canal path 11km this morning in the frost. Was meant to be a tempo run but kept stopping because it was so gain beautiful I felt compelled to take a photo!

That looks lovely FATE! Beautiful and sunny here but freezing; -8 when Dh left at 7:30, -6 for my run. Did a pyramid session while simultaneously checking the route for our inaugural Parkrun on Saturday- going to need some gritting I think!

Lovely pics fate, glad you’re feeling better oybk, super cold here today but actually less slippy which is good. Steady 5 for me, felt a little more like old me but by no means totally right.

How exciting for Saturday emummy! Is everything in place?

emummy · 31/01/2019 18:11

We're all organised Buster, it all depends on the weather now! And they have been logging and have seriously churned up part of the route, so we may need our back up route. Fingers crossed it will be ok!

TriSkiRun99 · 31/01/2019 19:42

Good luck for Sat emummy our ParkRun is just over a year old and regularly gets 400 folk. It’s been brill for our town inspired lots of folk to get running. Forecast is windchill-6c on Sat at moment Smile gulp!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2019 20:25

Exciting Emummy!! I hope you can find the path Grin

emummy · 02/02/2019 11:06

We had to cancel Sad. Too icy yesterday, then it was well below freezing last night and we have 2 inches of snow today. Forecast looks milder for next weekend so hopefully we will start then.
Hill reps in the snow today then for me with my Yaktrax on!

Our parkrun was the only one local that was still on today but I decided that taking ds wouldn’t be wise so rest day here!

TriSkiRun99 · 02/02/2019 19:56

That’s a shame emummy but probably wise for the first one. I ran with a friend who’d never done PR before today and we had icy puddles to dodge but it was a stunning beautiful, cold blue sky day.

emummy · 03/02/2019 17:20

Lovely afternoon run in the sunshine, some roads and some snowy woodland paths. Phone ran out of battery halway round so daydreamed my way through the rest - will need to catch up on my podcasts while ironing tonight instead!

Oops, forgot it's February! New total 20

Topsyturvey10 · 03/02/2019 18:11

26.2 that's a marathon done already!
My new trail shoes (Salomon Speedcross 4) didn't really get the test I was hoping for as the ground was completely frozen here.

BusterTheBulldog · 04/02/2019 08:46

That’s a shame emummy, definitely sensible though. Our local ones cancelled too this weekend.

Easy 3 from me on sat and 11mile LSR yesterday.

emummy · 05/02/2019 10:55

Hilly interval session in town, had to stick to gritted paths, everywhere else has thick ice. Lovely sunny day though.

Usual park plod for me. I got a discount code for a subscription to Women's Running if anyone wants it. It's £6.75 every 3 months dd while a single copy is nearly £5. I am trying in immerse myself in all things running to keep me motivated.

BusterTheBulldog · 06/02/2019 10:08

Yes please topsyturvey if you don’t mind sharing!

9miles club run last night for me. Intervals later, hoping for a nine icy session this week.
