Hi lovelies! I was just about to join the running thread and saw it was almost full and couldn’t find another
I’ve copied below from the last thread and I hope you don’t mind me joining you all!

This is the 12th thread since it started with a few of us who wanted to chat about our running, running clothes, support each other and get some training tips.

We talk about our runs and support and encourage where needed.

Please feel free to come and join us and add your miles to our running total for the month for the whole thread in bold at the bottom of each post.
Currently on 10.2 for September

Best wishes

Well done FATE what a transformation!
Congrats on your 5k Daffo, great running!
More soggy running this morning, water literally running off my waterproof when I got home. Not running tomorrow so it will probably be sunny!

Crickey fate, that’s amazing, well done!!!

Back from hols and interval session today, found it v hard. Went out for early Morning run once on hols and was still 28degrees at 730am! Did a treadmill run second day but then (as ever with me) the effort dropped off and food consumption increased Blush.

Had also forgotten how hard i find running in the heat, give me rain and cold any day!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/11/2018 17:32

Fate that’s amazing. I’m a bit the same, I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be a ‘runner’, running races and getting up early on Sundays to do half marathons for fun! What a year!!

Geekster1963 · 29/11/2018 19:30

Hi can I join in? I’m going to have a proper read of the thread.

emummy · 29/11/2018 21:02

Welcome Geekster, come on in!

AuntieStella · 30/11/2018 00:08

I haven't posted for a while, as I damaged myself doing a half marathon and decided that yes, this time I will rest properly.

But until that point, November was going quite well. I managed a new Parkrun PB and hit my 1000k for 2018.

Not much in my events diary for December, other than a Santa Dash. And of course deciding about Christmas Day Parkrun and possible New Year double.

AuntieStella · 30/11/2018 00:10

Forgot to add the miles!

547.11

emummy · 01/12/2018 10:22

Hope you are recovered soon AuntieStella and can enjoy some Christmas running.
Steady run in town this morning, grey but dry, felt nice.

552.2

SkiMum99 · 01/12/2018 15:02

Had a cold all week but tested legs on Friday after dropping car at garage, then park run this morning. Wasn’t sure if to start a new total for Dec.

555.42 Nov
3.1 Dec

emummy · 01/12/2018 16:44

Oops yes it's December isn't it?! So

8.1

DaffoDeffo · 01/12/2018 21:05

I did 3k this morning Blush. I know it's not much but I was out late last night and just needed to do something! Are we counting in miles? I think it's about 1.8 miles

DaffoDeffo · 01/12/2018 21:06

So we will round it up to 10 miles

10 miles

DaffoDeffo · 01/12/2018 21:07

Thanks for all the praise. I'm really proud of myself! I never ever thought I would be able to run 5km!

emummy · 02/12/2018 09:58

Lovelyeasy run n country roads this morning. Cold, sunny, beautiful.

Thanks for the further details about the running club, Daisy. I think I will seriously look into it for the new year.

I run in the rain too. I live on the west coast of Scotland (AKA the wet west coast) and while I stalk the met office, the BBC and Channel 4 news weather forecasts, sometimes just can't avoid it. The rain itself is not usually a problem for me (I bought a decent lightweight waterproof), it is the surface flooding meaning having to run through inches of water. I wear the shoes recommended by a running shop so that the water comes in easily but goes out easily too. Splashed out on high quality socks to avoid blisters. Factor in time for a long, hot shower afterwards! It's actually pretty fun and you don't half get kudos from non-runners when you tell them you were out running in the rain Grin

Well done, Daffo, you are doing great!

Easy 10k in November and a parkrun plus an easy 2 miles afterwards yesterday. Got a PB and under the milestone I was hoping for so pleased about that.

November: 561.7
December: 24.1

IRun4Me · 02/12/2018 17:23

Haven’t been out for a week as have had a horrid cold/virus which has floored me. Have really missed the running but hoping to get out there in the next few days.
Impressed by everyone’s achievements.
I also will run in the rain, quite like it actually. Did a half marathon in the snow a couple of years back. The actual running was fine - it was the hanging around beforehand which was hard, especially as my feet got soaked and then took ages to warm up.
It’s the wind which I find hard - problem is I live in quite a windy part of the country Shock

SkiMum99 · 03/12/2018 14:35

Hope you feel better soon irun4me, I was feeling coldiee weird ear ache/gland thing last week had to force myself to do ParkRun on Saturday. But today I’ve enjoyed my long run day, got 10.5m in and only couple of light rain showers ran in T-shirt & summer capris as so flipping warm but wind was challenging at times swirling round me but luckily mostly head/side on first half then I looped back it was side/behind me helping push me home.

Hopefully this won’t out me too much but old acquaintance ran the Oman Ultra at the weekend 140k with over 7000m of climbing!!! She did it in an amazing time, just flipping mind blowing that a human body can be pushed to those limits and still smile across the finish line!

34.6

emummy · 04/12/2018 14:37

Chilly run in the sunshine this afternoon, only about 2 degrees. Beautiful day though.
That Oman race sounds really tough SkiMum, what an achievement.

39.6

WhyDidIEatThat · 05/12/2018 07:58

I’m creeping back both to these threads and running after quite some time. You’re all seriously inspiring me! Ran one mile on Monday as part of a longer walk, then two miles yesterday. Plan is to keep to these sort of distances so various injury prone bits of myself don’t notice what I’m up to.

So 3 miles added to 39.6 makes 42.6

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/12/2018 09:16

Do any of you do the Trust10 runs at the National trust properties? They are just fun run type things, not races- last Sunday of the month, although the December one is on 23rd Dec at the one by me. I’m going to go along to try it out. I am hoping to do a few races before my half next year so this could be good practice

emummy · 05/12/2018 11:33

Short runs to & from bootcamp this morning in the frost. Very chilly - -2 or 3 I think, very pretty with the frost everywhere.
Had exciting park run meeting this week, final training session, and set the date for our trial run in about 6 weeks time. It's all getting very real!

44.8

Daisydoesnt · 05/12/2018 13:39

I went to running training again last night, my second session of torture! We were on the proper track this time and after warming up the session was:
100m at your 10km pace, then 100m at your 1mile pace, then 100m at 10km pace, then 100m at 1mile pace - we did that 5 times, then jogged for 2mins recovery, then did 2 more complete sets with the 2min jog in between. I think that's 6km in total? It was weirdly good fun, although I did finish last again. There were a few other runners behind me but they dropped out towards then end whereas I doggedly plodded on!

It would be quite an easy session to replicate on the roads at home, if you had some handy lamp posts.

I haven't heard of Trust10s newaverage but that sounds interesting - I'm off to look them up. Thanks!

Including my total for December so far 59.1

emummy · 05/12/2018 14:21

Well you finished ahead of those who dropped out! Well done, sounds like hard work!

Geekster1963 · 05/12/2018 17:52

I’m just catching up slowly with the thread.

My story is I started running at the end of February 2014, I had a bit of a mid life crisis and realised I needed to do something about my weight and fitness.

I decided to do the couch to 5k and went out that night before I could change my mind, and I’ve been running ever since.

emummy · 06/12/2018 11:20

Welcome back WhyDid!
Couch to 5k is great Geekster, so many of us started running that way. What sort of running do you do now?
Easy run in the forest for me this morning, grey and damp today but not actually raining, hurray!
