Hi lovelies! I was just about to join the running thread and saw it was almost full and couldn’t find another
I’ve copied below from the last thread and I hope you don’t mind me joining you all!

This is the 12th thread since it started with a few of us who wanted to chat about our running, running clothes, support each other and get some training tips.

We talk about our runs and support and encourage where needed.

Please feel free to come and join us and add your miles to our running total for the month for the whole thread in bold at the bottom of each post.
Currently on 10.2 for September

Best wishes

Cross country pb! Hurray! By 10 whole seconds! Good run today, nice & muddy and those hills were nasty but good fun. Ds ran too and wasn't last so he's happy. Now for cake!

Yes, previous post was adding on the last October miles to that month's total. Sorry for causing confusion.

Mixed start to the month here - planned 10k cut short half way through (calf cramp that wouldn't shift), then a really nice Parkrun (bit of local-ish tourism, and a good time on a strange and slightly slimy course) but then today another 10k that just felt like hard work, but at least I did the distance I planned (I think that's as positive as I can get)

Wow skimum, that’s great for your daughter, it amazes me the speed of some of the kids!

I got a park run Pb too, finally broke 23 mins and got 22:42, was v pleased as probably won’t have chance to try again for a bit.

10 miles steady run yest too, iPhone headphones decided to give up ghost halfway which was bit annoying.

8m this morning after a Pilates class was hard going had to keep working on my motivation to keep moving so pace dropped off a bit but it keeps me on track with my training plan of HM by the end of the year.

Well done Buster, that's a fantastic time!
Good stuff SkiMum., well done for getting through that run.
Easy run around town for me this morning, found a new path in some woods which was fun. Not slept well this week so took it easy and it was lovely. Not a lovely day though, very gloomy here today.

A short one last night with the dog. The pavements are so uneven, spent the time focusing on not falling over the pavement or the dog!
I like finding new routes emummy can make it much more interesting.
Well done Buster and also skimum for ploughing on through

I was very good this evening - the dog needed a walk. So instead I put my gear on and took him for a quick run. Feel much better for it.

Must be the season for new runs. Travellers took over my usual run route last week so I swapped to a canel path route.

Not fancied the cancel path before, suspecting the totally flat and non-changing scenery might be boring but not at all. Some beautiful wildlife along the way. I'm loving the change so much that when the travellers left on Monday I kept up my new route instead of going back to my old faithful route.

FATEdestiny · 06/11/2018 19:39

Forgot to add my miles

Well done on your PBS emummy and Buster! Brilliant time, Buster!

Two steady runs for me from the weekend and today. I'm still struggling with balancing having a calorie deficit with having enough energy to run. I feel that I am running on tired legs even when I'm not. Certainly not getting any faster! Weather forecast looks pish so have finally bought a running rain jacket and winter tights which will hopefully be too warm for a while.

Haven't been on for ages but did 1.8 miles on Monday before my IT band was just too sore to carry on! I think I'm going to have to invest in a sports massage and more strength training. Fingers crossed another week or so will help!

Anotherotter I am the same, I always run before eating but I find that makes me really hungry later on. I do a low carb diet which isn’t always recommended for runners but if I do that and eat lots of protein I manage to keep my weight on a gradual downwards curve! It’s particularly tricky for me right now as I’m about 4lbs from target, I know it’s just a number but it’s a number I want to get to! My Fitbit says I’ve burned an average of 2600 cals a day this year but I eat nowhere near that most days so not sure what’s going on!

youreinacultcallyourdad · 07/11/2018 08:10

Any advice for complete beginners? I ran a lot as a kid/teenager but other than sporadic trips to the gym I haven’t done much in years. I’d love to get fit again but think I’d struggle with even 1 mile currently

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/11/2018 09:05

Your I was an absolute absolute beginner, started January 1st doing RED January (said I was going to run on our treadmill 10 minutes a day) and the first time I ran 10 minutes at 8km an hour and was sick; I’d literally not exercised in 10 years. I’m now running 2hrs at a time, 20kms for fun....I can’t actually quite believe it! My only advice is just to do it, I found by saying I’d run every single day at first made me have no excuses, but I didn’t push each run too far or too fast. By February I was aiming for 50km in the month, and by March had run my first 5km. I can’t believe how much it’s changed my life, I absolutely have the running bug now! Good luck!

BusterTheBulldog · 07/11/2018 09:10

Thanks All! Smile

Club run for me last night, realised it took me over 1000 miles for the year which is nice!

Have you heard of the couch to 5km app youreinacult? It’s a great way to start that lots of people on this thread have done.

I’ve started to think a bit more about what I eat. Had a McDonald’s before my long Sunday run and went quicker, maybe that is key?! Grin

youreinacultcallyourdad · 07/11/2018 11:09

I actually started the couch to 5k about 6 months ago but then life got in the way and I gave up after only a few runs. I’ve downloaded it again and will start this evening (I’m not UK based and it’s currently far to hot for daytime running) I tend to find that I get frustrated at how unfit I am and end up giving up or injuring myself so having something telling me what to do will be useful

Topsyturvey10 · 07/11/2018 19:04

The 10k looms and I can only add 4m this evening from yesterday's run. My race is next Saturday so let's hope that some cycling, a few runs and a truck load of determination will get me round....

Huntlybyelection · 08/11/2018 11:55

I had a bad day at work yesterday, but going for a run helped me clear my mind and set me back on track again. 3 miles, bit slower than I wanted because my running leggings kept falling down and I had to stop and cinch them in with my hair band!

My 3 miles and topsyturvey's 4miles makes the total

emummy · 08/11/2018 12:58

Welcome youreinacult! Good luck with C25k.
Easy run in the forest this morning, lovely and sunny and muddy!

IRun4Me · 08/11/2018 13:52

Short runs for me at the moment as I’m squeezing them in. But I’m getting out there Smile
Welcome youreinacult
Good luck on Saturday topsyturvey

Short 5k squeezed between school drop and work this morning. Hopefully can get a longer run in Sunday if weather improves.

Lovely run along the river in the sunshine

CalmConfident · 10/11/2018 12:37

Parkrun this morning, and a fastest time for 2018 👍 still s long way off my fitness (pb is 7 minutes faster) but making positive progress

IRun4Me · 10/11/2018 14:39

Lovely run this morning with the dog. Pushed myself to go that little bit further than I have recently, pleased with myself.

Park run tourists today, did Barclay Park Run-was tough! Hilly and muddy, plus I was hungover. Not a Pb in sight!

Couple of intervals sessions in the week, I love everything about intervals apart from the actual running Wink.

Do you have one of those dog belt thingys irun. I don’t have a dog but always think that looks fun!
