Hi lovelies! I was just about to join the running thread and saw it was almost full and couldn’t find another
I’ve copied below from the last thread and I hope you don’t mind me joining you all!

This is the 12th thread since it started with a few of us who wanted to chat about our running, running clothes, support each other and get some training tips.

We talk about our runs and support and encourage where needed.

Please feel free to come and join us and add your miles to our running total for the month for the whole thread in bold at the bottom of each post.
Currently on 10.2 for September

Best wishes

Good luck IRun4Me, it's nor easy fitting everything in.
Intervals for me this morning, lovely autumn sunshine.

Hi irun4me! It is difficult to fit everything in, my work is fairly calm at the moment so I’m trying to take advantage of it (mainly involves me staring at trainers online all day Smile).

Easy 4 on Monday and 6.5 club run last night.

emummy · 24/10/2018 11:03

Easy run this morning, lovely to be back in the forest again.

IRun4Me · 24/10/2018 20:08

I went. Just a short but nice one. I got myself ready and went out the door as soon as DH got home.
Feel so much better for it

Great work irun4me! Getting dressed and through the front door is the hardest bit. Glad you feel better for it too Smile

SkiMum99 · 25/10/2018 14:56

irun4me I too have to prioritise my ME time running but luckily my DH is the same so completes gets the need to run/cycle etc and we share the kids.
Welsh hilly 5k today as visiting family. Lovely views but ended up walk/running between the power line poles to keep myself going as was puffing hard!

IRun4Me · 25/10/2018 16:43

Luckily DH is very good and encourages/kicks me out the door. But I still feel guilty for the hours I spent every week when I was marathon training and am struggling to get back in to a routine.
I thought about doing a mini training plan to stick on the fridge but don’t want it to become a must do ‘chore’.
I get very jealous of people talking about forest runs and hills when I’m running the same streets or same flat countryside Grin

emummy · 25/10/2018 17:45

Come to Aberdeenshire IRun4Me, you'll soon be wishing for some flat countryside!

IRun4Me · 25/10/2018 18:22

That’s true emummy be careful what you wish for eh Wink

BusterTheBulldog · 26/10/2018 12:11

I know what you mean about it being a ‘chore’ irun, it could just be a rough one though, say Mondays easy run, wed intervals etc type thing? Might help everyone remember?

I did a flat intervals session and then continuous loop hills yesterday. I hated both, but always happy I’ve done them and I do feel it’s helping me. Confused

Just run my first 20km!! 2hrs7mins. So now I have a half marathon time to train to!
Buster I love the sound of continuous loop hills, we’ve got some really steep hills by me and I’m a bit of a hill junkie.

Irun I struggle with a ‘schedule’ as my week day runs are limited to time as I do them first thing before Dh leaves for work. So instead I tend to pick a route each week, usually a 5/6km and run it 4 days, trying to beat my time each day and do a different route each week on rotation. Then I do a long run either Friday or Saturday, and a midlength (maybe 8) or something like park run, or a ‘social’ run, and have one day off. I try not to have two days off in a row, telling myself if you run in the dark and the rain and the cold it’s good mental training!!

FATEdestiny · 26/10/2018 15:30

Well done thenewaveragebear1983, massive achievement!

IRun4Me · 26/10/2018 16:29

Well done thenewaveragebear Excellent achievement.
I did go out this morning for a short run with the dog. Didn’t want to be out too long as just starting to leave DC alone at home and he gets a bit twitchy if I’m gone to long. But at least I got out

Well done newaveragebear, great running! And well done to all getting out in busy lives.
Tempo run this morning, managed to get lucky and fit it in between snow showers! 2 degrees, way lower with windchill. 3 days ago I ran in shorts!

What do you all wear to run in this weather? I struggled to keep warm last weekend...running 4 or 5k and because I avoid pavements I have a bit of a walk to and from the park. Was thinking of wearing a fleece tomorrow over one or two ls tops and taking it off if I get too hot.

emummy · 27/10/2018 17:48

I started today in compression tights, t shirt, sleeves, long sleeves Ronhill top & waterproof, plus cap and gloves. Everything gradually came off down to the t shirt & tights as I was running quite hard (for me!). Tomorrow is an easy run so will go for winter tights, t shirt, sleeves & gilet, with cap & gloves.

FATEdestiny · 27/10/2018 17:55

I'm generally "hot blooded", in that I'm mostly always hot so dress to be cool all the time. The only time I feel a bit chilly on runs is during the cool-down walk home on very cold days.

I'm currently running in vest top and 3/4 leggings. I have gloves for cold days and detachable sleeves for very cold days - both of which I clip to my running belt a few in into my run once I'm sweating.

I do wear a sweatband/headband over my ears. It keeps my headphones in, stops sweat running into my eyes and stops my ears freezing in the wind.

I also always take a zip-up long sleeved running top, which I tie around my waist and put on after my run to keep me from getting too cold on the walk home.

130km / 80.8 October miles for me to date.

I wore leggings and a long sleeve top today plus headband. Perfect.

I will add a short sleeve top on top when it gets a bit colder.

When it's very cold (so maybe 2°c and less?) I add gloves and wear either short sleeve t shirt and a ronhill long sleeve fluorescent yellow running top (thicker than normal t shirt material but not fleece) or a long sleeve t shirt and the ronhill top.

Growingboys · 27/10/2018 18:28

I'm running in a long sleeved zip up top from Decathlon - I like it because it has a zipped pocket for my phone, and Nike capris.

It was cold this morning and I thought about gloves for the first time. Too early yet, but it won't be long!

Today was 5.8 miles along the river.

384.1 miles this year - that includes months off with various injuries, all of which I'm coming back from.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/10/2018 18:43

I wear running tights, I wear my calf cropped ones because they have a drawstring at the waist, (lost so much weight now that my others slip down) and I bought a couple of long sleeve jersey type running tops in primark a few months ago which are really coming into their own. I have a reflective hi-vis bib which I wear over the top. I have a headphones headband (which I got in Asda for 40p in their sale!!!) which combines headband/earmuff/headphones although it is a rather fetching shade of lurid green. Dh calls me 118118 when I go out in all my ‘kit’!!

I have had some great bits from Aldi and Lidl when they do a special offer of running/sports gear, washes well and lasts. Because I run every day I seem to need a lot of kit.

MsMartini · 27/10/2018 21:17

Thanks all, very helpful!

SkiMum99 · 27/10/2018 21:51

I’m planning to run tom and current forecast says “feels like” -3c at 9am Shock think I’ll be laying up and fishing out my fleece headband and winter legs, as I was hoping to go out abit earlier at 7/8am.

BusterTheBulldog · 28/10/2018 00:13

Smashed my park run Pb today by about 50 seconds! (5km Pb was by about 20 secs but it all counts!). I generally wear compression tights as much as possible as I find they help my wimpy legs. I’ll wear a T-shirt / vest and gloves until it’s less than 2ish and then go long sleeves. I am ALWAYS too warm though!

Well done thenew! Grin
