You'll soon be ready for the Brecon infantry course Grin

or not Confused

did ripped as normal yesterday morning and was then really sore rest of the day/last night (back/legs/hips) so have had to have a total rest day today to see if I can get things to settle back down... hope you've had a better weekend!

clearsommespace · 25/03/2019 09:05

I hope the rest day did the trick.
L4 yesterday and L1 today.

OP posts:
swimmingdory · 26/03/2019 19:11

L1 days 5/6 done ✅

clearsommespace · 28/03/2019 07:20

How are you feeling Sturmundcalm ?

I've done Ripped L2 and L3 since Monday.
Tomorrow L4 then I'll have finished my 'Ripped in 20' (5 days of each level)

Dory are you beginning to feel ready for the challenge of L2?

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 31/03/2019 18:32

I'm ok - although totally running behind! Did L1 in 8 days, have now done 7 days of L2 in 14 days...

Had been planning on doing 8 days of L2 but think I might switch up as my lower back is not loving this. I had similar with my knees and L2 of the shred, and moving up to L3 was actually a bit of a relief. Which means that I should really be watching L3 tonight to prepare myself for the horror doesn't it??

Am hoping that I'll eventually get to your level of consistency!

clearsommespace · 01/04/2019 05:15

It's best not to take any risks.

My knee felt not quite right going up and down stairs over the weekend so I am having a day off today. Enforced day off tomorrow due to work commitments. Hopefully that will be enough rest.

L3 is hideous on the quads and triceps. Personally I find L4 less difficult than L3. Good luck!

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 01/04/2019 07:54

yep - whole new world of pain this morning! there were a couple of cardio moves that i struggled with cause my quads were killing me rather than because i was totally out of breath... and my triceps were screaming at points, but i think my upper arms are toning faster with Ripped than they did with the Shred so I can live with that Wink

hope your knee recovers ASAP!

instituute · 01/04/2019 13:54

Do you do the same level one work out everyday?

clearsommespace · 01/04/2019 21:31

Hi instituute

Shred has 3 levels, one workout at each level. You're supposed to start with L1 for 10 days (with breaks it takes longer) then move up to the next level.

Doing the same work out 10 times running might seem dull but I find there are different phases. It hurts at first, then you get used to it, then it seems manageable and you start to feel ready to move up.

Jillian Michaels recommends working out 5 days a week. You should have at least 1 rest day a week.

Sturm, I think you are referring to the squat jacks after the duck walk. It's such a cruel way to order the moves!

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 02/04/2019 12:12

clearsomme - yeah, this morning was worse than yesterday because my muscles were already sore so circuit three had me slightly demented! there are quite a few moves where I'm doing the beginner version in this level so will probably need to do 8 days to be able to move on... I may also need to switch rooms as I don't have quite enough space to manage the duck walk properly - although not a major issue today as I don't have the muscles to manage it properly either Wine

clearsommespace · 05/04/2019 17:21

How are you doing?
My knee feels normal again and has done for 2 days so I will start the Shred again this weekend and hopefully not have any problems.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 05/04/2019 17:56

hmmm... knew that I wouldn't be able to do thursday due to work but ended up not doing wednesday as my muscles were killing me - particularly my arms. did it again this morning which was ok except for the fact I ended up feeling like i was going to vomit again! I feel as though i'm really "uneven" on this level - there are some moves I'm managing fine but others where I'm struggling with even the beginner version. think it is partly down to just how much of it is focused on your quads...

aiming to do again tomorrow morning but going to go hill walking sunday so probably tuesday before i'm back to it! glad your knee has recovered - know how frustrating it can be when you can't do stuff.

clearsommespace · 08/04/2019 06:40

30DS L1 D1&D2 done.

I'd forgotten how hard the first strength circuit is! I was quite sore along my sides afterwards. No problems with the jumping, lunging and squatting though, not after Ripped.

Hope you enjoyed your hill walking. Sadly I spent most of the weekend inside: a day of cooking and then a day of feasting (family celebrations).

OP posts:
clearsommespace · 08/04/2019 06:43

That came out wrong. I was happy to feast with people I love but it's a shame there wasn't also time to get out of the city.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 08/04/2019 19:54

know what you mean - i get a bit stir crazy if inside too much.

decided to be brave and do both ripped and the hillwalk yesterday and am ok today so that's me L3D5 done and hoping to start L4 this Friday. If I manage to keep up the pace I should get finished easter monday which would be 6 weeks and a day which is not too bad.

also lost weight despite going over quite a few days - so 4.3kg in 4 weeks; if I can just maintain that rate I'll actually be ripped in no time Wink

clearsommespace · 09/04/2019 10:51

Excellent progress! Star
L1 D3 Shred done.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 11/04/2019 12:36

are you going to work your way right through the Shred?

that's me finished level 3 Ripped and watched level 4... looks pretty ab-heavy which would be good as my stomach is my most in-need-of-work area but at the same time I think i may struggle with some of it!

going to google what i could do after this one Confused may give myself a week or two off but think i need a plan in place!

clearsommespace · 12/04/2019 05:42

Yes I think I will.

I wanted to do something 'easy' to get back into it after a week off so did L1.
But although the abs and cardio are easy after Ripped, the strength is tough. It's the keeping going 1 minute rather than the actual moves. So I thought I'd do L1 it until the strength felt manageable.
Did D5 yesterday and it's getting there but still not a 'cake walk'.

About to start D6.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 12/04/2019 15:01

yeah - I cope better with the 30second strength intervals in Ripped. although the burpee/scissor jump cardio combo in level 4 this morning had me very much not coping Grin

I've ordered 6 week 6 pack - looks as though there's less strength in it but was only £3.50 so looked worth a try! one of the strength ones was appealling but would have meant buying new weights so will probably leave that till i can ask for them for christmas...

clearsommespace · 12/04/2019 15:20

6 week 6 pack is very effective and aerobic.
I was thinking this morning that I should do it again but I don't know if I can face it!

Which strength DVD were you thinking of?

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 12/04/2019 15:35

ha ha - if you can't face it I should probably be very afraid!!

was lift and shred I was looking at, reviews seemed to be good and short sessions.

clearsommespace · 15/04/2019 12:53

Just typed a long message and lost it. GRRR.
L1 Shred D8 done.

You'll be fine with 6 week 6 pack, as long as you imagine you are doing it to save your loved ones!

OP posts:
clearsommespace · 18/04/2019 15:36

L1 D10 done.
L2 tomorrow...although we are invited to a BBC tonight so I may prefer the extra time in bed. I am working tomorrow so no chance if I don't get up early.

OP posts:
Sturmundcalm · 18/04/2019 16:53

I took the last 2 days off as was leaving early for work and my knees were also bothering me - think that full 2mins in a deep squat in circuit 1 is a bit much for me... did do better this morning to be fair after the break - am now doing pretty much even split between beginner and advanced versions across the exercises but still got 4 days to go! fingers crossed can get finished for Monday.

enjoy level 2 - I found it hardgoing, actually preferred level 3 of the shred.
