How was the athletics emummy?
Buster I don't have a recommendation for "go faster" plans, but there are lots out there, so if you find one you like, hopefully that will give you more motivation?
That sounds like a super fun run mayathebee!
athing Good luck for the ballot! I was sort of thinking of entering, but I know I won't have the time to fit in training next year!
salsamad I don't have much very useful advice, I'm afraid, but I have heard/read that the 220-age formula is not always very accurate, especially if you are very fit or have always been active. One suggestion I've read for working out your actual max heart rate is to run up a hill 3-4 times quickly, then run up it twice more, as fast as you possibly can. The highest heart rate you record will be close to your maximum heart rate. You can also get your maximum heart rate measured/assessed professionally.
I'm less sure about the rest of this, but as I understand it, exceeding max heart rate is only very dangerous if you already have heart issues. However, if you've truly exceeded your maximum heart rate, you're much slower to recover, more at risk from injury and get less benefit from training. As you're recovering well, I don't think you're actually exceeding your maximum heart rate.
I ran 5.7 miles today, two thirty minute sets of interval training on the treadmill. I was trying to push myself a bit, and didn't feel like I was dying at the end, so that was good!
