A thread for all things running in 2018.

This is the 11th thread since it started with a few of us who wanted to chat about our running, running clothes, support each other and get some training tips.

We talk about our runs and support and encourage where needed.

Please feel free to come and join us and add your miles to our running total for the month for the whole thread in bold at the bottom of each post.
Currently on 29.2 for January.

Good luck @stegosauruslady!

emummy · 21/03/2018 21:15

Yes good luck stegosauruslady! I hope the weather is kind and you have a good day.
Evening run today as can't fit it in tomorrow. Easy recovery run in town, ten whole degrees, tropical!
Hope your husband behaves Buster!

stegosauruslady · 22/03/2018 11:58

Thank you! I'm looking forward to it (and to my beer in the shower afterwards!).

3 miles today with DP, I'm not running until the race now Confused

269.55 Does anyone fancy runnning .45 of a mile to tidy it up? Grin

LadyLance · 22/03/2018 15:17

@Stegosauruslady I wasn't going to run today, but I did a mixed gym session and ran 2.3km which I think we can call 1.45 miles to tidy it up a bit!

I also went on the new cross country ski machine, which used some interesting muscles!

stegosauruslady · 22/03/2018 18:10

LadyLance Phew, that is so much better!

emummy · 23/03/2018 12:09

Wet and pretty chilly run in the forest. Quite proud of myself - kept going when I wanted to stop, pushed pace & effort on the hills, so pleased with that run. And then I find it had 400 m of ascent, that's 1300 ft! Must plan less hilly routes!

BusterTheBulldog · 23/03/2018 14:12

Well done emummy you are hardcore, I hate hills!

Good luck for sun stegosauraus beer in the shower though?!

6 to add from me, I’ve finally worked out that body pump the day before kills my legs for a run, so have cancelled tomorrow’s class to hopefully prove the theory by having a good run on sun-we will see!

Beautiful sunny morning, lovely run! Took a less hilly option and had a lovely time.

Lovely sunny run this morning, went around the roads with my mother (who is madly fit and puts me to shame!) 5.2 miles at a decent pace and ran up all the hills!

Sounds like everyone is having some good runs this weekend.

LadyLance · 25/03/2018 13:03

Well done stegosauruslady that's very impressive!

Hope you had good weather for the run as well!

stegosauruslady · 25/03/2018 13:04

Thanks LadyLance It has been beautifully sunny...warm enough that I ran it in my short shorts!

emummy · 25/03/2018 13:48

Well done stegosauruslady! Great result

BusterTheBulldog · 26/03/2018 09:59

Well done stegosaurauslady! Great work!

Hungover 10 from me yest.

LadyLance · 26/03/2018 12:26

Buster I don't think I could cope with running a mile with a hangover- well done!

3 miles today in the gym. I've run over 50 miles in March now, so signed up for the 50 mile "race at your pace" challenge for April!

cinnamon!! I was wondering how you were! Hello!

cinnamongreyhound · 27/03/2018 07:52

Hi emummy! I’m ok, had a bit of a tough time with dh and my stepdad has been in icu with pneumonia for nearly 3 weeks now. The boys are good and I’m still running 20+ miles a week. I did Cambridge hm in my pw time for a hm and I’m NEVER doing another one again but otherwise I’m happy running in the forest with my friends and my dogs. How’s things with you?

Sorry to hear about your troubles cinnamon, I hope things are improving for you. Running in the forest sounds perfect. All well here, soldiering on with marathon training; the snow has been replaced by torrential rain, much fun! Welcome back

emummy · 27/03/2018 11:51

Lovely soggy muddy forest interval session, went well. I actually enjoyed it - is enjoying interval sessions a sign of madness? Or just a sign I should be running them faster?!

BusterTheBulldog · 27/03/2018 22:58

7 yest and 6.5 at club run tonight, managed 3 legs in 8 min mile group tonight, a record for me!

Hi cinnamon thank you for starting this thread Smile

I didn’t realise how bad my hangover was till I was 3 miles in ladylance, was one of those sneaky ones where you think you’ve escaped and then it hits you-not good!!

LadyLance · 28/03/2018 12:37

Hi cinnamon I'd like to add my thanks for starting the thread as well, it's been a really supportive home as I've started running. Hope things are going better for you now.

emummy I do interval sessions sometimes and probably don't run them fast enough, but I do enjoy them more than just tempo running- maybe it's the variety or the feeling that I'm pushing myself?

Buster Sounds like you're doing really well! I never get hangovers like that, though- I either feel dreadful or fine, no in-between!

Ran 5 miles/8k in the gym today, hoping to manage 3 miles on the roads tomorrow if it's not too wet/miserable.

4 miles from me in the pouring down rain! I'm very soggy now.

BusterTheBulldog · 29/03/2018 23:35

12 from me today. Hammered it down when I was half way round, lovely!

Does anyone else tense their arms when they run? Husband told me I looked like a Dalek (glad he’s started to come out with me Hmm) and in fairness, I am aware of it, tend to loosen by the end. Try and put my arms down every so often but other than that not sure what I can do?!
