Wow I have long run envy! But happy to join the plodders Smile

4.8k yesterday, I was stopped abruptly when my son came back early from his play date feeling sick. He's fine but I didn't get back on it.

85.6/914.4

ladymelbourne1926 · 30/01/2018 15:44

Have logged 45 miles so far. No great but given my health it's a million times better than at this point last year.

BitOutOfPractice · 30/01/2018 15:54

I was feeling all super-smug about my totals (I'm going for 750km) and then I see all you lot! Grin

77km / 675km

Undercoverbanana · 30/01/2018 17:55

158 miles run. One more long run tomorrow night and January is done so should be 170 ish. Better start planning some tapering soon!

SkiGirl007 · 30/01/2018 22:06

I’m hoping to squeeze in 6k tom so I can hit my 90k target this month, which I’m super pleased with after loosing nearly 2wks sitting on the sofa with evil snoty coldie bug Smile

SkiGirl007 · 31/01/2018 21:50

Got 5.5k as was late home from work so total for Jan 89.5k. I did walk the 2k at lunchtime though Smile

atomicnotsoblonde · 01/02/2018 22:50

Tired legs tonight.., didn't run yesterday but a long day from brum to London and back... it's nearly the weekend 🍸🍻🥂🍷🍾🍹🍸

LoveVelo · 02/02/2018 16:28

atomicnotsoblonde glad your DS was ok!
ladymelbourne1926 45 miles is still good going!
undercoverbanana that's seriously good mileage, sounds like you have something of a training plan.
Speaking of plans, must try and think something through. I generally go out and if no time constraints (usually weekend) will try and go for a longer run.
Although I'd like to get back into cycling again this year so will have to plan getting 20-25 miles in running whilst still getting some rides in.
Anyway, 4 days off this week as away for work but able to get out for 6.4 miles today. Was 98.3, so plus today am at 104.7 miles for the year.

atomicnotsoblonde · 02/02/2018 19:27

Nice miles Love... I dream of eventually converting km to miles, but that's slightly ambitious at the moment!!!

6k

97.2/902.8

Night out tomorrow! Can't wait, it has been ages. Hopefully all will be well with new babysitter and I get to drink my body weight in gin because I deserve it

Pinkponiesrock · 02/02/2018 23:33

I’ve had a pretty busy week with 2 club sessions, coaching kids XC club and some runs with my girls.

Up to 104 miles for the year now so on target at the moment, with some in the bag should disaster hit.

SkiGirl007 · 03/02/2018 19:10

Wow 100m+ already some of you guys are motoring.

I knocked up a short 4.5k this morning but then did a km swim straight after. I’m do a Go-Tri in May so I’m doing some mini brick training Grin

Total: 95k in 2018

LoveVelo · 04/02/2018 08:23

Good to see you all still keeping at it- I think posting here helps as strava is just a tally.
10.6 miles yesterday so now on 115.3 total.
Will get out again today (as work commitments are a bit full on for the first few days next week) and see how I feel. (Plan my routes so depending how it feels, I can extend or use shorter bridle paths/ walkways to get back.)

atomicnotsoblonde · 04/02/2018 22:28

I managed 8.4k today 😊 this is the furthest I've ever run in my life! Once I got past 6.5 it felt easy. I'm a little bit achy tonight but I loved it!

105.6/894.4

LoveVelo · 04/02/2018 23:01

Steady plod whilst catching up on yesterday's radio 2 ( am of that age!) and happy to have done 16.5 miles, last couple had a few aches mind!
115.3 plus 16.5 today so now at 131.8 miles .
Hope you all had a great weekends running, and more so, just winning at life! (Zoe Ball R2 reference there!)

Pinkponiesrock · 05/02/2018 12:26

loveVelo
I’m also a Radio2 lover, I like listen to Friday night is music night too for a long run, the Harry Potter was amazing!
Just Parkrun plus a 2 mile warm up for me this weekend, it was more of a gin themed weekend than a running one, yesterday I was certainly not winnig at life!!

SkiGirl007 · 05/02/2018 12:59

Ssshhh I’m another Radio2 listener Grin but not when I’m running that’s mostly Faithless DJ mix but then that “ages” me as well 😂 I love the beat to keep me running but I only use one headphone so I can still hear the world around me. I’m dreading doing a HM with no music at the weekend but hopefully the company of my friend will compensate.

A nice fast 10.5k this morning as I’m tapering for the wend now.

Total: 106k this year.

SkiGirl007 · 05/02/2018 13:00

Well done atomicblonde hope a stretch today helps your achy legs.

atomicnotsoblonde · 07/02/2018 18:16

6k. 111.6/888.4

Hot.... not of the sexy kind! Mixed my inhalers up before starting so found it harder on my lungs today.

Still beating the couch Grin

LoveVelo · 08/02/2018 12:00

skigirl007, I love Faithless too, agree with what you say the tracks being good for running. I particularly like the long mixes for Insomnia, Mass Destruction and God is a DJ.
Good luck for your HM this weekend!
pinkponiesrock, gin themed weekend would have won hands down for me too, had that been a choice!
atomicnotsoblond, good work on increasing distance- I get aches too but find that Westlab reviving Epsom salts are really good in a hot bath for reliving them. (Cheap from BM stores as well, £2 or so.)
Anyone have any other tips on pre or post exercise lotions and potions?
I do like MOA fortifying bath potion after a long run, particularly on a cold day but it's rather pricey so used in moderation!
Also Espa fitness oil is lovely and warming, also pricey, but goes a long way.

SkiGirl007 · 08/02/2018 13:05

I’m another purchaser of Epsom salts from Home bargains in a hot bath post 10k+ run. It definitely helps me to not get the chills after running which I do sometimes if I just have a shower? Eating or drinking as well something warm immediately post run (in half hr) also seems to help on the really long runs. I like a warm pint of ribena with 1/4tsp of salt - seems to work just as well as expensive “recovery” drink Grin

LoveVelo · 08/02/2018 13:43

Warm Ribera sounds nice, I'll give it a try. My usual pre and post run is cherry juice which apparently assists in reducing inflammation. Not sure if this is correct or not although research suggests it helps.
Forgot to update running log- 6.3 miles on Tuesday so total now at 131.8 plus 6.3 so now at 138.1 miles

BitOutOfPractice · 08/02/2018 14:03

I’ve just battled with a5km run even though I’m poorly 85/665

atomicnotsoblonde · 08/02/2018 23:28

Cherry juice and warm ribena sound lovely! I usually just have a quick glut of squash before checking the kids haven't eaten other or worse gone hunting in the kitchen

5.6k.

atomicnotsoblonde · 10/02/2018 15:18

Hot!!! Trying not to die

LoveVelo · 11/02/2018 09:42

bitoutofpractice, extra kudos on getting out when not feeling well! Hope yore recovering well.
atomicnot so blonde, I like your method of counting down the challenge, I bet you're doing at least the same distances running after the kids!
10.4 miles yesterday listening to last weeks pick of the pops on radio 2 - was 1984 and 1991. Seems I remember 1991 through rose tinted glasses, I didn't recall Do the Bartman!(KLF made up for it)
148.5 miles so far.
