Inspired by this thread a few months ago. Passed through the 1000km mark on my bike for 2018 on my way to work this morning. Have now readjusted my target for 1000miles but not sure I will make it. Hope you don’t mind me joining!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/08/2018 23:18

Lampy I’m about to do the same with running, not sure I’ll get to 1600 km though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/08/2018 21:40

Thanks Amy, I’m pretty pleased with myself today! Need a new goal now though. I don’t think I’ll manage 1000 miles (that would be 1600 km) before the end of the year. Maybe 1450 km? (the length of the uk by road!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/08/2018 20:34

SkiGirl007 · 31/08/2018 08:51

That’s Awersome well done! Over 1000ks whoop whoop! Grin
Well done amy too sounds like you keeping on track.

I’ve had nearly 4wks of no running and chomping at the bit to get back out for a 5k at the weekend after our holiday. I’ve upped my walking this week and had long swim yesterday in a pool after 2sea swims this week. Plus daily Physio exercises so hoping I can build the running back up again Smile I’ve crossed over the 1k mark if I add in all the walking this week. But still want to keep aiming for the running total higher than last years. Love having this thread to make me realise how far I’m exercising despite the two non-running dips this yearSmile

Signed up for a half marathon today, in April next year. Instantly regretting it, but I’m sure with some proper training I’ll be fine Hmm

amysaurus87 · 03/09/2018 07:14

24.46 miles done this week, it would have been more but my fitbit strap broke so I wasn't wearing it for a day or so.

477.05/522.95

Almost half way!!

SkiGirl007 · 03/09/2018 08:20

Ran 5k yesterday Grin first km was stop /start still in a lot pain did stretches then as I expected muscles “released” and ran 4K without stopping or feeling out of breath. Hoping a couple of 5k a week for next few wks will help build back up strength and lesson pain.

Your be fine doing a half bear as you have a lot of strength to run daily. I did it last year on 2x5/7k runs a week and one long run that I added to every wk till I got to running 2hrs + non stop. Gd luck. I’d like to get back to that if my flipping body can stand upto it.

Running 439k
Skiing 20k
Rowing 18k,
Cycling 461.5k
Coastal Walking 10k
Swimming 41k = total 989k

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/09/2018 08:24

Ski I hope so. I will be picking your brains for tips. My longest run to date is 14km.

Glad your run went well! I love that feeling when suddenly the sluggish feeling lifts and like you say, your muscles release. It’s like changing from 2nd to 3rd gear in the car.

I have a ‘pinchy hip’ - or at least I did last night, so I’m hoping my slow 9 today won’t have left me injured. Pinchy was not caused by running I might add, it was caused by my lighting fast reflexes as Ds has developed a bad habit of charging at me full pelt and head butting my fanny pelvis, so I jumped out of the way when I saw him coming and pinched my hip/groin/something in that region. Bloody kids.
Oh, and I’m doing my first Parkrun tomorrow.
