30 Day Shred... anyone want to join me?

toastedbeagle · 16/05/2017 12:49

I started in Feb and managed 25 days or so but got a stinking cold and my whole health kick went down the drain. Think 8lbs heavier now Shock

I started yesterday with Day 1 Level 1 and determined to keep up with it.

I've also started playing tennis again and I'm determined that by my hols in 7 weeks I will be fitting back in my size 12 clothes.

Anyone want to join in with some daily motivation?

Yay!
What's next? Grin

SoupDragon · 09/07/2017 18:12

Hurrah!

babba2014 · 10/07/2017 13:51

I got to this thread after seeing a couple of years ago there were consistent monthly Jillian Michaels threads. Bring them back?
I've done 4 days of 30 day shred. This is after deciding I need to stop eating bad and take care of myself instead of eating away.
I did shred before having kids and got to day 9 then got busy but now nothing will stop me.

SoupDragon · 10/07/2017 14:04

Welcome :)

I am going to need to fit my shredding in the evenings for then next few days as I've got workmen in and I'm not sure they're ready for the sight of a red, sweaty middle aged woman in gym kit :o

clearsommespace · 10/07/2017 18:29

Ha! Soupdragon I avoid looking in the mirror until cooled and showered for exactly that reason!
So what shall we do? Have a new thread for all JM related business, stick with this one...
Still unable to jump in my living room coz of people staying but did a 7 mile hike with DH yesterday...

clearsommespace · 10/07/2017 18:32

I mean I try to avoid seeing sweaty middle aged woman even if it's me!

IronOrchid · 10/07/2017 21:40

Got my sweaty paws on Ripped in 30 (cheers, Amazon) and will start on Weds - reckon I deserve a few days off :D

IronOrchid · 12/07/2017 13:41

Hello all - how's everyone getting along with the Shred?

Just did L1 D1 of Ripped in 30. Some reassuringly familiar moves in there! Very sweaty now so for a shower, then it's a restorative cup of coffee for me.

SoupDragon · 12/07/2017 14:21

Forgive me Shredders for I have been slack and lazy... Blush

clearsommespace · 12/07/2017 18:19

Hown did you find it Ironorchid? IIRC it's a little easier than Shred level 1. Guests went gone today so I have no excuse. But I have got our of habit of getting up early to exercise before work. Sad
Soup, tomorrow is new day

SoupDragon · 12/07/2017 18:52

Yes, but I have to go to the bank to get cash to pay the builders.

I will start again thougheven though I haven't missed doing it in the slightest!

babba2014 · 13/07/2017 00:27

Day 6 of 30 day shred done. I think I've lost a little over 1kg so far (eating better too).

clearsommespace · 13/07/2017 06:28

That's great Babba.
Level 1 Ripped done. It's nice to have a different cool down.
I won't be able to keep you company all along Ironorchid as we go on holiday in less than 2 weeks. So I am planning to do Ripped on days when I am short of time and Killer Thighs when I have a bit longer. (Killer Thighs probably better preparation for hiking holiday)

IronOrchid · 13/07/2017 20:07

L1 D2 done.

I find the cardio harder in Ripped, clear - I struggle with fast legs and the dreaded running man! Enjoying the strength sections though as they seem to go quicker than the ones in Shred.

I now fit into the sports bra I bought two years ago, although the scales say my weight hasn't budged. (Not so) pro-tip - take your measurements on day one!

clearsommespace · 14/07/2017 07:23

You're right about some of the cardio being harder than Level 1 Shred. I'd pick running man and the touching floor skaters. But I think most of the strength moves are easier. But maybe I would feel differently if I hadn't come from Level 3 Shred! I don't find Fast Feet hard physically but it is an uncomfortable sensation keeping upper body still while moving the lower body like that!
Level 1 Day 2 done.

UsernameTaken2 · 14/07/2017 17:05

Can I try please?

My only problem is trying to work out how to do it in the garden instead of indoors.
The only room where I have plenty of space to move is the lounge and the floorboards are ruined and wouldn't take the hammering. Also it's so hot at night I'd probably pass out if I was to do it indoors.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I could do it outside? (I don't have a tablet or laptop to take outside btw)

babba2014 · 15/07/2017 06:24

On day 8, before I started my workout I weighed myself. I do it more often than I should as I want to understand how my weight fluctuates throughout the day to get a better understanding of my weight.
I came into this fully preparing not to lose weight and gain muscle instead but the scales show a -4lbs in weight. I'm still on level 1.
I believe it is the food change though. I don't eat unhealthily and it has worked for me.

IronOrchid · 16/07/2017 15:52

L1 D4 of Ri30 done.

Would have been day five but decided to 'take it easy' yesterday and do a Davina DVD instead - forgot that Davina is also insanely fit AND her workout was longer, so ended up doing 45 minutes! Derp.

Hm, not sure what to suggest Username - maybe watch the workout through once or twice, then work through the list of exercises outdoors? There are a few sites that list the moves in each section if those are any use?

Well done on your weight loss babba2014!

clearsommespace · 16/07/2017 19:32

Ha ha! So a change wasn't as good as rest for you Grin
User, DS tells me there are websites than convert youtube videos to audio files. (Not sure of the legal implications). If you've watched the video a few times, you should be able to manage with just the audio.
I did Killer Buns and Thighs level 1 today.

babba2014 · 17/07/2017 23:24

Level 2 of 30 day shred, day 1.
Are you kidding me? So much double movement. I didn't realise I was so awful at it.
And all the leg movements!!! My lower legs have felt it the worst during level one and I was hoping to ease the pressure during level two but nope, even more hardcore. I'm struggling. I don't even know if I'll be better in day 10.
Level one was amazing despite some struggles.

IronOrchid · 18/07/2017 16:18

Ri30 L1 D5 done.

Tried some yoga before bed last night and today's session felt fairly mellow...although my running man has devolved into spotty dog, so maybe that has something to do with it!

L2 of Shred is something I don't miss, baba. Planks as far as the eye can see, eh? Keep going though - I felt so much stronger by the start of L3.

babba2014 · 18/07/2017 23:52

Thanks for the encouragement!
Day 2 was much better as I knew what was coming. Phew! My legs are weak though. I didn't want to take a break but I think I will tomorrow.

clearsommespace · 19/07/2017 09:52

Day 3 of Ripped done.
What's a spotty dog?

clearsommespace · 19/07/2017 09:56

Just looked it up but couldn't really see the difference in the video I watched.

SoupDragon · 19/07/2017 10:35

After a week off, L2 D... um... I guess I should start at D1 again!

OMG I'm hot today (and not in a good way!)
