30 Day Shred... anyone want to join me?

I started in Feb and managed 25 days or so but got a stinking cold and my whole health kick went down the drain. Think 8lbs heavier now Shock

I started yesterday with Day 1 Level 1 and determined to keep up with it.

I've also started playing tennis again and I'm determined that by my hols in 7 weeks I will be fitting back in my size 12 clothes.

Anyone want to join in with some daily motivation?

I'm on day 16 now. Day 6 of level two. My eyes are as dead as Natalie's, however got lots of compliments at work yesterday and my tight trousers felt way looser all over. That keeps me going!

clearsommespace · 10/06/2017 13:22

That's great Vicar. Rest day for me today. Good job too as yesterday I managed to let a log roll on one foot and stub my toe on the other foot! No serious harm done.

clearsommespace · 12/06/2017 08:37

Day 11 complete.

SoupDragon · 12/06/2017 09:46

I've finally been in the right place mentally to get back to this ( I last did it in the month before christmas and before that, this time last year when shorts weather beckoned!!)

D1 L1 done. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised at how long the base fitness has lasted between attempts. When I did this for the very first time a couple of years ago, I was dead after the warm up!

SoupDragon · 12/06/2017 09:47

And this time, I took photos for the first time. They are not good!!

clearsommespace · 13/06/2017 10:17

That's good news Soupdragon.
Day 12 complete.

SheGotOffThePlane · 13/06/2017 10:28

I'm going to start this tomorrow. I've got slightly dodgy knees though, can I do less squats and still have similar results?
Plus I need to be able to bend for my job, if I'm throwing myself into a car bum first it looks very unprofessional Grin

SoupDragon · 13/06/2017 12:06

L1 D2 ticked off :)

My 16 year old is currently walking round the house in just shorts flaunting the 6 pack he got through fuck all effort and a diet mostly consisting of bacon. Git.

SoupDragon · 13/06/2017 12:08

I think Shred is quite tough on the knees. You could do smaller squat movements or I used to substitute in a different exercise if there was one my back protested at.

Level 2 day 3 complete. Can't decide which I hate most: the V raises or the cardio combo in circuit 1.

SoupDragon · 14/06/2017 09:34

L1 D3 and the only time I think ivpm going to die is, bizarrely, the first cardio circuit with jacks and jump rope. I don't know why but that first set kills me!

clearsommespace · 15/06/2017 12:13

Level 2 day 4 complete. This time tomorrow I'll be halfway through Smile
How did you get on shegotofftheplane ?
How's everyone else doing?

SoupDragon · 15/06/2017 13:13

I've not been able to do D4 yet today, it will have to wait til this evening I think. I'm already hurting less though!

clearsommespace · 16/06/2017 07:09

Level 2 day 5 complete.

clearsommespace · 17/06/2017 06:40

Level 2 day 6 complete.
Rest day for me tomorrow.

SoupDragon · 17/06/2017 06:45

I did L1 D4 yesterday having had to have a rest day on Thursday. Not sure I'll manage D5 today though as I'm not feeling well.

clearsommespace · 17/06/2017 11:29

That's a shame. Hope you feel better soon.

Gemi33 · 18/06/2017 13:27

Hi

I really need to start exercising again - I've done the Shred before but never got past level 1, I think I get bored! I'd really like to do the full 30 days. I'm not a morning person and struggle to fit it in then but if I leave it until the evening I'm too tired so need to think when is best. You all sound like you're doing well, well done and any tips welcome,

xx

What works for me is being on a thread like this. When people post it's quite motivating. Not sure whether a bunch of strangers of the Internet (hope I'm not offending anyone ) would notice or care if I give up but it does help when I don't feel like doing it.
Also Shred is repetitive so does get boring but you also really feel the improvements. So if there's an exercise with say 20 reps and the first time you skip no. 10 the next time you can push yourself to try to go to 12 before skipping one. Or if you are following Anita try to do the first 2 Nathalie's way and the next day the first 4.

clearsommespace · 19/06/2017 09:22

soupdragon how are you feeling?
Level 2 day 7 done.
Level 3 is looming on the horizon!

SoupDragon · 19/06/2017 09:44

Not too bad, thanks. I've done no exercise but, on the plus side, I've not eaten much this weekend! :o

Chipsandonionrings · 19/06/2017 10:01

hi I want to join you but it's boiling here. I usually do it in the garage ( concrete floor so no danger of snapping a floor board!)

I am off for a sea swim tonight but will start tomorrow - will bring the fan into the garage.

I last did this before my wedding and it works really quickly and really boosted my fitness. I have never done the whole 30 days so that's my aim.

clearsommespace · 20/06/2017 07:07

I did it at 6am. It was already 18 degrees outside and warmer in the living room as downstairs windows closed all night.
Anyway that's level 2 day 8 ticked off.
Sea swim sounds lovely!

Chipsandonionrings · 20/06/2017 08:32

it was. I don't actually swim much, more bobbing about. it was nice to be cool but the sea is so much warmer than it was a couple of months ago. well done for doing it at 6am. knowing the British summer it will be raining again in 2 days so I will start then.

dudsville · 20/06/2017 08:38

Ooh, this thread is an inspiration. I did this a few years back. Used to do it first thing of a morning. Great results, I felt so strong, but didn't keep it up. Think I might do it again but would have to find a different time of day. I'm going to take before and after pics.
