30 Day Shred... anyone want to join me?

I started in Feb and managed 25 days or so but got a stinking cold and my whole health kick went down the drain. Think 8lbs heavier now Shock

I started yesterday with Day 1 Level 1 and determined to keep up with it.

I've also started playing tennis again and I'm determined that by my hols in 7 weeks I will be fitting back in my size 12 clothes.

Anyone want to join in with some daily motivation?

I really need motivation to do this today. Been looking at results online and will force myself to get it done!

Freshprincess · 29/07/2017 12:28

Managed to do level 1 with only one rest day so pretty chuffed with that. Level 2 day 1 yesterday (eek I'd forgotten how much harder it is). Not looking forward to doing it later tbh.
I took a photo on day 3 (forgot on day 1) and then again on day 10. Whilst I wouldn't say 'shredded' definitely 'slightly less podgy'.

SkeletonSkins · 29/07/2017 13:32

I'm terrified of level 2 as I find level 1 hard ha!

Well level 1 day 4 today. Found the cardio hard as forgot to take my heart medication oops! Also feel like I'm rubbish at the push ups and last set of side lunges. Push ups I can do the easy way but don't really get far down enough and the side lunges I'm just rubbish at! Please reassure me that I'll improve. I feel like I really need to get lower but then when it comes to it my leg just won't do what I tell it to!

SkeletonSkins

Have you taken before pics??
I strongly recommend it, I did it at the beginning of each new level and it's so motivating when you get to level 20 and you can actually see that all the effort is actually doing something!
Level 2 isn't as bad as you think it's going to be I think I like it more than level 1 to be honest.
Also there is nothing wrong with sticking to the modified exercises if you can't do the full version you will improve and work your way up, I hate those side lunges too I found if there is an exercise I can't do or really struggle with then I'll just replace it with another similar jillian exercise I think this OK as long as you're constantly moving and working out, I have the jillian michaels app, just the free version, but it's very good for generating short workouts to target areas and also good for ideas on alternative exercises.

Honkyzeke · 30/07/2017 08:10
  • Not level 20 DAY 20! 😁
SkeletonSkins · 30/07/2017 08:59

Thanks for the advice Honky, yes I have taken before pics so hopefully that will serve as motivation! Glad to hear level 2 isn't the worst thing in existence haha I can definitely see me doing the easier options this time through but may then do it again with some of the tougher moves/heavier weights.

Rainatnight · 30/07/2017 09:45

Well done everyone! Keep it up!

Here's my embarrassing confession Blush

I thought that the video had 30 episodes and that it took you through days 1 - 30. So I did the first bit on day 1, the second bit on day 2, and the third bit on day 3. And then was like 'hang on, where's the rest of it?'

I didn't realise that you were supposed to do the first bit ten times...

So I went from level 1 to level 3 in 3 days.

I thought there was something wrong when I felt like I was going to die, dripping sweat all over the floor. I thought, 'how, this day 3 is a LOT harder'.

I'm a complete idiot. Blush

Rainatnight · 30/07/2017 09:45

'wow, this is a lot harder' not how....

IronOrchid · 30/07/2017 15:40

Oh dear, Rainatnight! At least you know what's in store Grin

L2 D5 of Ripped in 30 done. Not enjoying this vid as much as the Shred - can't pinpoint why, but don't feel like I'm getting any stronger. Almost jealous of all you Shredders out there Envy

UsernameTaken2 · 31/07/2017 07:41

I haven't done it for a couple of days. Life has sort of gotten in the way. But I WILL do it tonight. I've got a feeling that if I don't do it tonight then I'll never get back on it. I agree the side lunge things are what do me in. (Which makes me wonder if they're the only ring im doing properly)

Rainatnight · 31/07/2017 10:34

Grr, I'm going to have to do a rest day and I was really getting into it. I've woken up with a terrible pain in my neck, I think caused by taking a big step up in my weights yesterday.

Does anyone else find it hard not to involve/strain their neck in some of the exercises?

Tsuipenongin · 31/07/2017 11:33

I only got to day 2 of RI30 level one last week due to going away for a few days with my husband. Last night I decided to up my game and start level 2. It was ok, but I hate bloody mountain climbers and squat thrusts.

Freshprincess · 31/07/2017 13:16

The best bit of level 2 is when Jillian catches Natalie not going low enough on the squats Grin
Makes me feel better about half-arsing the plank jacks.

DividedKingdom · 31/07/2017 15:11

L1 D5 of Beginner Shred....had 1 rest day yesterday but did it today before breakfast Halo.

I'm so physically unfit. Could do with losing a bit but it's my energy/flexibility/stamina which are in crisis. Bit shocked that I can feel improvement in my muscles so soon not done even 1 proper press-up yet through and hoping I get better as the programme progresses.

Begninner is really accessible for people with near-zero muscles btw. When I complete, I'm planning on doing "proper" Shred but literally no way in hell could I start off with that.

SkeletonSkins · 31/07/2017 15:28

I bet you could divided, I'm honestly awful and I feel like I might die but I do make it through. That said, building these skills up over time will be good for you body and you'll really see the progress you're making.

No shred for me today as I'm off my exercise class which is basically the same thing. Will pick it up again tomorrow! I need variety or I just quitz

SkeletonSkins · 01/08/2017 13:57

L1 d5 starting to feel like I could do a little bit more today. Nearly gave up with it tbh as weighed myself and I've lost nothing at all, so felt really gutted about that as have been so good and have walked loads and eaten healthy too, but think I can see a difference in the mirror and clothes seem looser so hoping something is happening.

Honkyzeke · 01/08/2017 14:34

SkeletonSkins

Don't be disheartened, I was exactly the same didn't lose any weight during the shred but by the time I'd finished I was comfortably a dress size smaller and as I said before and after pics are a great incentive! I would suggest not weighting yourself until the end though.
Keep up the good work 😄

TheDogsMother · 01/08/2017 14:37

Can I join your Shred Thread ?

So after years of stop start with Level 1 30DS I finally tackled it and finished all the levels. I moved on to Ripped in 30 and am now on Day 4/Week 4. I'm wondering if I should keep going with Week 4 until I can do everything without modification or if I just move onto something else for the variety. I've tried a few and there's nothing like Jillian for results quickly and I'm really quite chuffed with myself for getting this far as I've never really kept at it with any of my previous workout regimes.

Rainatnight · 01/08/2017 15:44

Divided, I'm so pleased there's another 'Beginner'! Like you say, I'm so shocked how quickly I can feel an improvement in my muscles. I feel a bit stronger already, it's crazy.

IronOrchid · 02/08/2017 16:11

L2 Day 6 of Ri30 sorted.

I am useless at the cardio plank moves - they kill me. Almost looking forward to L3 (I fully expect to regret that statement).

SoupDragon · 02/08/2017 18:12

I need to find a way through L2. I hate it so much I've stopped doing it. I need some enthusiasm from somewhere!

SkeletonSkins · 02/08/2017 21:24

I did level 1 day 6 today. I'm still crap at those side lunges.

PhDPepper · 02/08/2017 21:33

Hello! I started level one on 15th July, and just moved onto level 2, I've lost 10 inches since then and I feel fantastic. I just ordered ripped in 30 just to mix it up a bit :)

PhDPepper · 02/08/2017 21:35

@SkeletonSkins I just do the punches again whilst doing a really see squat instead of doing the lunges.

SkeletonSkins · 02/08/2017 22:16

Think I might try that, thanks for the suggestion. Not getting anywhere with it!
